Those Expansion Courier missions are data storage only as well. I started off exploring. I think i did 40 jumps one night in a Sidewinder, one way. The D-Scanner and FSS Scanner will help make some quick credits to upgrade.
I originally was going to suggest just jumps - but it's quicker to take a mission to deliver 5-14 LY away and get more from one mission than doing Dscans which require 20 LY away before selling. In a ship with 8LY range delivery is faste $... I tried both :)
Started an alt, immediately bought Mandalay stellar and went to do exobio. First day, 160 mil. With predefined ships, and just stellar editions, FDev new players really nice way to jump into exobio, laser mining etc, right off the bat.. Ofc there's that famous learning curve 😂😂
Fdev must have changed things, multiple starts, doing the training missions and not, at end received 10k. A new account, just a few days ago, I did the first ground mission, then quit out, skipped the tutorials, and got 250k..... Something had to change. Of all restarts, i was sent to Chamberlain's rest for noob are, only once i was somewhere else. edit: speeling : )
Ya there is some randomness there I think... I ended up in my first begginer mission about 60LY from the begginer zone so could not leave the one system I was in without loosing access to beginner area - whch was a bummer as I was going to shoot some video there as there are XenoBio scan plants there now.
That's ez, don't start with missions. They give nothing. Go to a resource extraction zone and hunt bounties but wait until the local law enforcement has the enemy ship health below 20% before firing at the target.
😉 That was me. Just did my first exo scan yesterday for 19 mil.

I think for brand new players in a beginner ship with NO money to upgrade it, courier missions are less risk than being at a HazRes :)
