    Sweet video. Nice breakdown of the movement. Things are easier to understand in isolation.

    Ive been working on these for the past few weeks! Mcdavid puck control. I saw McDavid in the last game (game 6) skate the puck up the ice so beautifully with no quick handles.

      Love it! The ability to “touch” or tap the puck with control is absolutely game changing and McDavid is undoubtedly one of the best.

    Hello, I am new to hockey and have a question…
    I am right handed and have been playing with a right handed stick. I feel more comfortable catching, passing, and shooting the puck with this stick.
    That being said, I feel more comfortable dribbling and maneuvering the puck with a left handed stick.
    What do you think is best for me to do?
    Should I learn how to catch, pass, shoot with a left handed stick or dribble / maneuver with a right handed stick?
    Thanks in advance!

      Thanks for the question! Honestly, I have not run across that problem before so I'm not quite sure, typically you would pick the one that feels most comfortable.
      What I can tell you is that the top hand is the one that mostly controls the stick so try stick handling and shooting with the only the top hand (as much as you can) with a right and left handed stick and see which one feels more comfortable.
      I wouldn't say that is a definitive/ conclusive test, but maybe it will get you closer to figuring it out.
      Maybe try going a week with a right stick and a week with a left stick and notice if you feel more comfortable after a slightly longer period of time.
      Hopefully that helps a bit, but, you just have to keep testing until you figure it out.

    Do you have any videos about the backward crossunder? I learned the forward crossunder thanks to your video?

    • @TheDownhillSkater
      @TheDownhillSkater  Год назад

      I don't have anything on the backwards crossunder right now, it's something that I need to work on myself. Theoretically, everything is the same, you need good y-angle, shin angle, "lean" .... Try doing the same thing you did to learn the forward crossunder going backwards and see if that helps. I'll make a note of doing a video on the backwards crossunder. Thanks for the question Ilya!

    What’s the difference between this and a crossOVER?

    • @TheDownhillSkater
      @TheDownhillSkater  Год назад +1

      Good question, it’s more of a language thing.
      In a crossover. There is two components, an under “push” and an “over” push. Conventionally people describe the entire movement as the crossover due to the crossover push.
      But my personal preference is to describe the entire movement as a crossunder due to the under push.
      If you want a more in-depth explanation, I left the full video where I go over my reasoning in the description down below.
      And why crossunder is a more appropriate name than crossover.
      Hope that helps!
