Mini turbo is important, indeed. We all know that. In this time trial example, that Badwagon actually had a advantage in anti-gravity speed. While the mini-turbo focused build still ended up with a better time, that was still much harder than it should've been.
I've been digging into hidden stats outside of Mini Turbo and find that most of my karts have higher speeds in Water/Air than ground or anti-gravity. Not something I want to see. This helps though. Thanks Alex.
That's how my favorite Landship combos are! I will say it's great getting a track like Dolphin Shoals in those cases because you have that added speed. It makes life a bit easier.
All valid points and the comparison didn't even factor in that the Baby Rosa combo in a race environment would do WAY better due to the recovery being leagues better than the Bowser Badwagon combo when hit by items in a race and no one here can tell me they race regularly without getting hit by one or two red shells. (especially with this games awful distance based item system with 2nd place getting triple reds and a single almost constantly)
So absolutely, accel/Mini Turbo will almost always come out on top in a race environment. However I can give top speed vehicles more credit in TT's but still, I don't think they even beat Accel and Mini Turbo at that.
Also, correct me if I am wrong. But you technically CAN see your mini turbo stat on the character select stat screen. It should mirror your accel stat. (Which is why I grouped them together.)

You're right about acceleration = mini turbo in most cases. The Waluigi Wiggler is a good example of one such build where the two stats are equal, 4.25 after putting them into numbers.
However, the Daisy Jet Bike I've been running recently with its components being Rollers and the Paper Glider has an Acceleration of 4, with its Mini Turbo being slightly higher at 4.25. This example shows that while you can generalize what your build's mini turbo stat is by looking at the acceleration stat, it isn't always equal. If there is a difference, the karts Mini Turbo stat could be .25 points higher or lower than the acceleration. I haven't seen a gap larger than that.

It's baffling to me that they thought traction (a situational stat that only affects performance on sand and ice) was important enough to show the player, but mini turbo wasn't. If anything, showing traction just confuses players, making them think it affects how sharp your general turns are, when that's all handling.
