    The highlights don't show how good of a game it really was. Both teams defended and moved the ball well, and was a physical game too.

    That was an amazing final! I think the Campana last minute miss was actually a pretty tricky one cause having to jump over the sliding defender delays his arrival to the ball. By the time he gets in reach of the ball it's past the post and that maneuver is crazy hard, even for a pro (I'd say given those circumstances he actually got pretty darn close to scoring haha). Callender got MOTM for that performance and Best GK award, Messi got awarded for best player and top goalscorer and gave back the captain armband to Yedlin so he can have the picture lifting the cup I assume.

    • @AbedCruz
      @AbedCruz Год назад +1

      Campana made a bad choice not to shoot the ball directly. He had all the chances to score by triggering a banger. Instead he chose a complicated action. That's why he missed it.

    • @jorge.im.linares
      @jorge.im.linares Год назад +1

      @@AbedCruz I think he obviously intended for the ball to go directly into the goal and missed, but he almost saved the play. You gotta be very precise in direct hits like this cause the GK was very well positioned. A couple of plays before NSC's #9 tried kicking it to the far post and Callender made a great save. The narrator said the kick was bad cause Callender didn't have to fully extend but you can see that the shot was going to hit the post, that's because Callender positioned himself perfectly as did the Nashville GK against Campana. It was a tricky play and Campana just didn't have the killer instinct to nail it.

    I'm really excited for the MLS season to resume. Miami has defeated the 4th and 5th place team(Philly and Nashville) in the MLS during this tournament. They play the first place team Cincinnati this Wed in the US Open Cup. Next Wed they play Nashville again for a regular season game.

    Wish they showed the whole shootout cause there were so many ridiculously well taken penalties. Really was a great game overall, Nashville defended really well and I was happy an MLS team finally didn’t just make it easy on Messi, he only had two shots the whole game, of course he scored one and hit the post with the other cause he’s Messi lol, but its more fun when he scores if it isn’t just awful defending. Mukhtar impressing isn’t surprising as was actually the best player in MLS before Messi signed with Miami.

    The next thing Messi can win is the US open cup. They play against Cincinnati FC in the semis on the 23rd. After that if they win 10/12 of the last MLS games they can compete for the MLS trophy as well

    • @Lucas_Tulic
      @Lucas_Tulic Год назад

      They're gonna have a hard time in the domestic league. I read that only the first eight qualify for the play offs. So, they have only 12 matches to reach 8th place at least. That's 36 points up for grabs TOTAL, and they're 14 points from 8th place right now, so is gonna be really hard for them.

    • @donviajero2580
      @donviajero2580 Год назад

      @@Lucas_Tulic The 8th and 9th place teams have a play-in game to make the playoffs, so Miami only has to reach 9th place. As it stands now, they have to make up 14 pts in 12 games on either Chicago or Montreal (who each have only 10 games remaining). That is going to be very tough.

    • @Lucas_Tulic

    So about the lineups… Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore on Nashville are both United States men’s national team players. Walker Zimmerman has been a starter over the last couple of years. Hany Mukhtar is one of the greatest players in MLS at this time. He had 34 goal contributions last season, he’s on pace to beat that this season. He has scored or assisted over half of every goal in Nashville‘s entire team history. He was the first player they ever signed as a club.

  • @HarveyWallbangers2
    @HarveyWallbangers2 Год назад +1

    For Nashville: Hany is reigning MLS MVP, Surridge came from Nottingham Forest. Godoy is a long-time international for Panama. Zimmerman, Moore, and McCarty have played on the USMNT-most prominently Zimmerman. He played in the 2022 World Cup and has been one of the better CBs in MLS for awhile.

    I actually do think its a bit of a hard one with Campana. He's a great player. I think the defender going down in front of him threw his positioning and speed off.

    • @Lucas_Tulic
      @Lucas_Tulic Год назад

      The truth is that Campana is an average player at best, even if you compare him with the standards of that league. You just have to look at his career and, of course, his statistics as a forward. He's just an average player. I mean, he's a sub for Martínez for a reason, and Josef hasn't showed much so far other than not knowing how to play with Messi. It's early days, I know, and maybe they will connect and they will improve, but what Campana did the other night was a clear example of why he's in the bench at Inter Miami. If Luis Suárez get there next year, he'll have to look for another team for sure.

    Upon first glance, this looked like a howler of a missed opportunity.
    A closer look from different angles tells a different story. The defender, initially beaten badly, rallied heroically. The goalkeeper also held fast and made himself big. The two combined to disrupt the Miami attacker and force him into taking an uncomfortable, awkward stroke at the ball.
    They did so without fouling and without offering him a clean follow-up. Only in my amateur opinion, that was some of the best defending of a sure-thing counter attack I've ever seen.
    Even so, he should have buried it.

      Yeah, Nashville job on Messi was so good that he scored a classic goal that EVERYBODY knows he's gonna try, running 30 meters alone, unmarked, and then in the second half he did another classic Messi move and put it on the post. You can try to shut him down, but as we've seen for the last 16-17 years straight, you will not succeed.
