Wouldn't it be something to go to a rave and see somebody doing this? Even ten years ago this would have science fiction, and twenty years ago... You wouldn't have dared put it in a movie.
I am awestruck, transfixed and amazed! (yeah, all those are redundant but whatever...!) I am now officially in love with the "CYR WHEEL," something I'd never heard of till I saw a guy with one at the FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL in Seattle yesterday. Didn't see him perform, just saw the wheel. He told me the name and I Googled it. WOW! I want one, and I want to use it like that guy. xo!
If you still want one, go to Etsy and there is a fellow named Anton in the Ukraine who makes very reasonably priced ones. Just got my first from him-wheel $390, shipping $115.
Well, I think another site was talking about how you can make your own from PVC pipe (or order from Etsy?) I think it would be real easy to do cuz I saw one yesterday and thought, "that looks just like PVC pipe hooked together in a circle!" How you would attach it, I don't know...
Cyr wheels are actually made from much stronger material... usually stainless steel or aluminum. They are coated with a thin PVC hose for protection (perhaps this is where the confusion comes from). The LED cyr wheel likely has some kind of groove routed into the metal to house the lights. They are not particularly easy to make without metal working skills and equipment, but for the adventurous, there are plenty of tutorials out there :)
hey guys and girls! I am a girl and I really want to start with the cyr wheel! It would be perfect if I could use the wheel inside and outside. What kind of wheel should I buy for the beginning and where? Thank U 4 Ur help!
The size and type of wheel is measured by you standing height and arm span. The same wheel can be used indoors and out but you'll need to care for it a bit more because the outdoors will cause your PVC (outer coating) to deteriorate more quickly and often feel slick indoors. The PVC can be replace so no worries. I suggest practicing anywhere smooth even if its outdoors in the beginning so you can practice as much as possible. We make 3 standard models and of course can customize to your specific needs if needed.
gym wheel/german wheel is not a prerequisite by any means however, there is crossover and there are skills in the rolling variation that are definitely less intimidating to approach in a gym wheel. The basic step or waltz in the cyr wheel is not traditionally related to gym wheel though. So, this would be much easier to start learning in a Cyr.
The LED effects are spectacular, but wearing a black costume makes his body movements secondary. Physical arts should show the body movements of the performer - otherwise it's a light show.
It'd probably be best if you have lots of experience, the sport can be dangerous and requires perfect balance. Injured fingers are pretty common too, practitioners avoid injury to their hands by placing them palm like on the inside of the hoop when they're hands are near the ground.
anyone of all ages can enjoy the art and exercise of Cyr. The mastery you like to achieve simply depends on how much time you spend on the apparatus enjoying and exploring first your basics principles then more creative movements. Like riding a bike or any physical activity.
My aerial silk trainer started when she was in her fourties, no previous experience and not fit at all. you should see her now. I have several Friends that started doing erial silk in heir 40s/50s. They are doing well.
When you add lights and glow-in-the-dark clothing it adds a cheese-factor and completely negates the guy’s talent. I’d rather watch a guy in ripped up sweats do a beautiful, raw routine on a cyr wheel with nothing else. No gimmicks, no lights, nothing modern. To me, this just looks like his own skills are so meh that he has to add crap to it to create buzz.

It's not PVC

@@DavidsDreamFactory Are these available to purchase yet?
Cool, not as many lights would have been better. Performer was oversighted by flashing lights.
Badassery

That's awesome. I bet the wheel was expensive though.
I made it!
@David's Dream Factory hi how much do you charge for such a wheel
The whole clip was in slow motion. I couldn't see any effects the wheel produces at high speed.
amazing!
Phenomenal!!

KeepOnRocking1000 would it be better if you start with gym wheel?

OMG
How do you not break your knuckles off the ground? x)
+e'rekt Zorah When inverted, Cry wheel performers are not grabbing onto the wheel, they're pushing out against it
Tyler Brown Ohhh Thank you for that! :)
You lift your fingers up when the wheel is on the ground.
show de mais
Could a middle aged lady do that? How do you keep from rolling over your hands?
It'd probably be best if you have lots of experience, the sport can be dangerous and requires perfect balance. Injured fingers are pretty common too, practitioners avoid injury to their hands by placing them palm like on the inside of the hoop when they're hands are near the ground.
They open thier hands when they roll upside-down
