You are great as always Eugene. Thanks for sharing your secrets with us :)
To anyone in a place on the tour, book a lesson so I can be jealous of you. The whole video at Drum Technique Academy is excellent. Such a neat instructor.
Great video Eugene ! for me the best swivel is (like you or ken) much more on horizontal plan because if you dribble with your ankle only in a vertical mouvement you have to keep your legs in hight position leading to an overuse of the hip flexor to compensate and stabilise the legs , but Hip flexor are attached to the last 5 vertebra so the lumbar spine could be injured due to the extra works of the hip flexor specifically for an extended period of time of playing at hight tempo. Anatomically horizontal swivel is better
well done my friend!
awesome
You are the man! Really impressive and motivated. Thanks for that and see u soon.
best drum tutorial. your motivations is too good. love you brother ♥♥
Great, great video !! Thank You, Eugene.
Thank you Eugene!
i really need to give it a try at the practice kit
Make sure to come and play in sweden sometime!
Thank you.
Yes, yes, yes!! Great 😍
Fantastic.
Really interested in a lesson, but I'm shy AF hahaha
Thanks for the motivation man, you really inspire me!
do it, just booked mine... im miles, like a thousand away from his level.... but its fun and you will get something from it amd get inspired... really recommend it
I understand being shy and reserved about it, but it really is one of those awesome opportunities. He gives very productive advice at the Drum Technique Academy and can give you a lot of ideas about getting where you want to go.
@@timorus8090 I booked mine yesterday! I'm really excited but also pretty nervous
@@Matthijsbergsla Definitely understand. It can seem intimidating. I think it's awesome being available for people, especially on a tour. It's a great opportunity to ask and learn from someone of that high level about technique, application, and drumming in general with immediate, personal feedback. I hope you have as much fun as I think you will. If he does the same when he is over here, I should book some time too!
Awesome man great video.Im gona practice this technique and hopefully be able to get the hang of it.
amazing
Yeahhh, great tutorial Eugene 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

@@EugeneRyabchenkoDrummer I am!
Thanks for uploading this bro, it really inspires me to build my feet faster 😁
I reeeally want to try that technique out!
Just hoping my feet won't go off the drum pedals when doing that. lol
Hello eugene .. i got a question .. in one of your older video about advance bass drum technic you said that the angle of the beater should be at almost 90° from the bass drum with full spring tension but in this video( if i see correctly) your beater seem to be at a 45° ... is it because after a while of practice you suppose to return at a shorter angle or its just for the video .... by the way you one hell of a teacher.. wish you a good day
thanks man, i'll become nile additional drummer
Hi Eugene I'm getting really into playing with a double kick peddle and I set up a daily practice routine that I have been sticking to for the last couple months but I still feel a bit uncomfortable when playing. I tried everything from positioning my bass drum differently and having my throne higher or lower or sitting further away from the kit but I still feel that my legs are bent too much towards me and it's difficult for me to lift them quickly. Also, I have my feet right at the top of my pedal and not further down like you do in this video but if I want to bring them down I end up moving back and sitting too far away from the kit. How do I get a perfect position that doesn't feel awkward when using the double kick pedal? Please help!
Ps: love your vids bro, keep it up! They've been teaching me a lot!
I am guessing that you are using too much of "leg motion". I don't know your settings but first you have to place your feet a bit further down, but not too much. Around the middle and a bit to the front of the pedal should be fine. Get your spring tension to a level that doesn't require you to lift your legs up and try to work your ankles and push the pedal as if you were bouncing a basketball. Using leg motion is totally normal, everybody does up until 160-180 bpm, but the thing you have to get rid of is lifting your legs on your own. The pedal should do that for you, you just have to work your way into pushing without getting too tense. Do exercises like 16th notes at whatever tempo you are comfy with, for at least five minutes straight. Put time into slower tempos and technique and do endurance exercises as often as you can.
What pattern do most people use for this technique. I can think of 4 possibilities. In In Out Out, In Out Out In, Out Out In In, Out In In Out. In Out Out In seems most natural to me.
I do in out out in as well
This is kinda what I do
Looks like something that Tim Waterson explained in his older videos.
I like that this time you where not mean to your brother
why i do the swivel technic left and right didnt work?
Hmmm, so would it be accurate to say, pure up and down ankle motion would be the best technique to specialize in, for someone who wants to maximize the amount of power they’re hits have?
I also used this Technic.why cannot play swivel?
i have tried swivel technique in jamming studio but why not?
hey man great video! thanks. can you explain what is the tik tik noise? is it come from your pedal? bcs ı have same issue in my axis longboards
I've tried swivel technique but It's impossible. No matter how I do the beater just stops, as soon as I move my feet horizontal.
PezrulezHaakon you using direct drive?
Great, as always! Got a question - My swivel is more inner side to the normal position, than side to side. Is it normal? I feel not comfortable moving my right hell to the right as much as i can move it to the left.
As long as it is comfortable and works for you, then yes it's normal.
I think he confused horizontal with vertical and vice versa, but great video.
why do i do swivel technique so please can you explain?
What do you mean?
Touring with?
Do you think it will cause knee problems long term?
Knee problems are a symptom of improper technique. Swiveling is driven by ankle motion, but often times in the beginning stages of learning this technique, drummers will try to play it too fast and with their muscles tensed in addition to their body not understanding the proper motions.
If you are having knee pain, I would suggest trying a few things:
1. Set spring tension to Med/ Med-High. I would definitely not recommend trying to learn this technique with max spring tension. The fact that swiveling can be done with NO spring should say a lot about how important and effective playing the proper technique is. (There is a YT vid of James Payne doing this for reference.)
2. I would suggest setting the click to a slow but comfortable pace. The best thing you can do to build muscle memory is to play slow for long periods of time.
3. Make sure your seat is set to a proper, comfortable height. Sit to the back of your seat so that you can be balanced as well as making it harder to use your entire leg so that the focus is more on your ankles.
I’ve been putting a grip of work into this technique and along the way I’ve really come to understand the importance of playing slow to give your body the chance to really understand how it should move and for you to be able to practice relaxed. I had some knee pain early on and it was because I was tense and with the ankle motions not developed at that point, I think naturally people will try to drive the motion from their knees instead and that’s a definite problem. As soon as I corrected these things, the pain went away almost immediately and has not been back. I hope this is helpful. Cheers.

That pedal rattle tho
It's the clicking of the footblaster trigger I assume
