That was a master stroke by Ford by adding real wood and wood veneers to the interior. It gave the car a touch of class as did the steering wheel treatment.

Beautiful example of a Cortina 1600E , just watching the video took me back to 1969 , My Dad who was a Ford enthusiast , added a brand new 1969 1600E to his 1966 Cortina GT ,he bought the 1600E with lotus suspension in London and drove it straight to Pakistan . It was white just like yours ,but I remember it having pin stripes and those Mod Bullet style wing Mirrors in vogue at the time .Thanks for uploading the video it was a treat for a Nostalgia freak .

Hi, my dad had a very special 2 door 1600e, in red . It was first owned by a big wig in Fords. My dad drove it to Portugal, sadly it got stolen in Essex in 1970 never got it back such a pity as it was so nice.

My favourite Cortinas are the Mk II and the Mk IV. I don't know why, since I've never had the pleasure of seeing either up close or in person.

Surprised that such a reputable company should describe this car as Mk 2 1600e! As there had not been a Mk 1 1600e, this description is incorrect. The position is that Ford launched a Series 1 1600e initially, then later the Series 2. The Mk2 description relates to subsequent Cortina’s, such as the Mk 2 GT, estate, two and four door saloons and of course the Mk 2 Lotus Cortina.

      It is a mk 2. Cortina people can see it’s a cortina. 1600 E. so what’s your point. It’s a cortina mk 2 1600 E to be precise.

White was never a good colour for these cars, except for the rare Lotus version of the MK2.
