Actually it's a part of a trilogy about atomic bombing of Hiroshima during WW2. The Apocalypse is part 1, Above the black sea is part 2 and Under the red sky is part 3.
Did you notice that Miho was tossing picks to the audience though she only plucks but still she's got her signature picks and they are all sold out now naturally. They are premium now. This song is related to Above the Black Sea for three reasons. One, the title Red and Black, and Sky and Sea. Second, the backgrounds. Both songs have WW2 as the theme. Under the Red Sky is of atomic bombs and Above the Black Sea is of Kamikaze bombing. Third, they both are homage to Rachmaninov's pieces. Under the Red Sky is from Symphony No.2 and Above the Black Sea is from Piano Concerto No.2. Miyako is a great fan of Rachmaninov and said she wrote Under the Red Sky and Above the Black Sea as her love letters to Rachmaninov. Miyako played piano solo of Concerto No.2 before Final Collision ruclips.net/video/9VKrcsyQPUQ/видео.html, but I want it as the introduction of Above the Black Sea ruclips.net/video/Y9w81lmw2no/видео.html.
When writing the lyrics to "Under the Red Sky", Asami approached it as a sequel to "The Apocalypse", from both their debut EP and first album, which is about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
@@waterwalker9600 Thanks for that information! I'm obviously going to have to dig even deeper to 'really' understand these women. I pulled up the lyrics from all 3 side by side and can see the story line. Amazing lyrical artistry by Asami - and as an American, trying to put myself into a Japanese perspective on this was very sobering.
LOVEBITES - Under The Red Sky lyrics: Rupture of the Heavens Blinding rays piercing through on a killing spree Looming in the distance, come the thundering roars of calamity Eerie bitter silence, from the whirling black smoke and insanity Time has stopped and frozen Held my breath with the death of humanity If somewhere God really exists How would He take our shame and great disgrace? "Apocalyse", "Above the Black Sea" and "Under the Red Sky" are all about the last days of WWII. "Apocalypse" and UtRS are about the atomic bombings and their aftermath. AtBS is the thoughts of a Kamikaze pilot about to go on his suicide mission. Very few artists would have the courage to write about topics like this.
It's definitely a solemn subject to touch I'm sure. While no where near the same in devastation, the closest thing I can think of in modern times (at least for the US) is after 9-11 when a bunch of artists made songs about that topic. Not near the same I'm sure, but closest I can think of.
@@GlassMoonGaming There are some similarities, but one huge difference: 9-11 came out of nowhere and was unprovoked. In Japan, there is still deep disagreement over their role in the war, so the subject can be divisive.
That F underlying riff has Kill Em All / Ride The Lightning vibes all over them. Sick as hell! So heavy and fast! Love this and Above The Black Sea live! 🐺🦊 Love the react! PS. They are just fire, absolutely ruthless on their instruments. Really, who SOUNDS better than them??!!
Thanks for more LOVEBITES! Amazing songs, amazing band, amazing performances, amazing PEOPLE! End is not "just throwing stuff out" considering the outro music is "The Everlasting" written by Miyako. Appropriate following a song depicting such devastation, and to somehow embrace positivity in the face of the most catastrophic experience imaginable, all encompassed in the final chorus, "Sin in the sky It was that moment when I saw you smile A suffering I will never forget But again I will find you And take your hand Cause I know, together we will find a way to overcome !" Oh, Asami !! The perfect lyricist/vocalist for LOVEBITES! followed by the unified "choir" including "us" ... and the band showing respect to Wolf-Pack & taking a bow. Their departure from the stage reminds me of those 'boarding' the spaceship at the end of "Close Encounters" as the "aliens" depart ... though more 'magical' than 'alien' really... (ask Hiawatha, he knows...) A bit curious that you did not have the lyrics since you commented "Thanks! Will be handy during the premiere!" under whirled peace's lyrics comment, 17(?) hours before "premiere". Did you forget? btw, Midori uses slide in "The Apocalypse" (7,21 your vid; 3,32 original vid) and "Under The Red Sky" but no others (yet).
@@dregeye Thanks for letting me know there was more! The lyrics are just amazing, nothing left to be said. In the last two minutes, as they prepare to take their bow, you will see a lot of emotions come through just in their expressions and body language. Asami triumphant, Haruna joyful, Midori flirtatious, Miyako quietly satisfied, and Miho getting choked up. This concert has to have been a huge triumph for her, and she has said that she missed having her father there to see it. Its all there.
Great nod to a Rush classic, Red Sector A. The only other guitarist I’ve ever seen use slide regularly (which Midori actually does) is the Lord God Ritchie Blackmore himself. Pretty sure Miyako must have written the outro, as one of her top 5 influences is Brian May. It almost sounds like it could have been a studio outtake from A Night at the Opera or A Day at the Races. Great to see you becoming ever more engulfed in the glow of Lovebites.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it or not, but "The Apocalypse" and "Under the Red Sky" are both about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The studio version of "The Apocalypse" ends with a sudden and stark piano chord that rings out, echoing the actual bombing and immediate destruction and loss of life. To me, "Under the Red Sky" is about the beginning of the healing and rebuilding process and about finding hope amid the utter devastation. I *love* Midori's slide work on both songs. Midori recently tweeted out picture of her flexing and showing off her impressive physique, and Asami was looking over her shoulders making faces at the camera. I really envy whoever becomes their new bass guitarist for so many reasons. As a side note, I met the pilot of the plane that dropped that bomb. Colonel Tibbets lived in Columbus for his final years, and he and my high school social studies teacher would shoot skeet together. Colonel Tibbets came to school one day and talked to us about his involvement in WWII. He was kind and blunt and honest, all of which we appreciated. He was a man with presence, that look and feel about him that he had been through a lot of harrowing shit and survived to humbly tell the tale. As a side to to the side note, Bockscar, the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, is housed near me at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum. My wife and I go to the museum about 2 - 3 times per year, and we're always solemn when looking at it.
Wow! That's a great story to have! Very memorable I'm sure! I've always wanted to go Wright-Patterson, it seems like such a great museum to visit, especially for me since I've gotten more into aviation over the years. Thanks for sharing!

LOVEBITES - Under The Red Sky lyrics:
Rupture of the Heavens
Blinding rays piercing through on a killing spree
Looming in the distance, come the thundering roars of calamity
Eerie bitter silence, from the whirling black smoke and insanity
Time has stopped and frozen
Held my breath with the death of humanity
If somewhere God really exists
How would He take our shame and great disgrace?
Sin in the sky
It was that moment when I saw you smile
A suffering I will never forget
At the edge of this grey world
Holding you tight
Searching for a glimpse of hope that we can still believe in
Pounded by the black rain, while the world is engulfed in a bloody sea
Stolen in a moment; everything, everyone lost to history
If somewhere God really exists
How would He take our shame and great disgrace?
Sin in the sky
It was that moment when I saw you smile
A suffering I will never forget
But again I will find you
And take your hand
Cause I know, together we are stronger than this nightmare
Sin in the sky
It was that moment when I saw you smile
A suffering I will never forget
At the edge of this grey world
Holding you tight
Searching for a glimpse of hope that we can still believe in
Sin in the sky
It was that moment when I saw you smile
A suffering I will never forget
