These videos are always so interesting. Glad this niche bit of Doctor Who/BBC history is being documented.

Another great video Pip! Always thought it was odd that Time Warrior and Talons weren’t released uncut on VHS - two Bob Holmes bangers!

The Seeds of Death too. All three were supposed to be reissued uncut over 1999/2000 but were cancelled. It was probably due to the fact DVD was slowly taking over and VHS would soon be dead. Therefore, the BBC decided to get every unavailable story out although in May 2001, they reissued City of Death. Bit pointless since the slot could have gone to an unreleased story or one of those three edited tales.
After WHSmith brought out The Davros Collection in 2001, the Restoration Team suggested The Sontaran Collection as a follow-up. However, the retailers opted for The Time Lord Collection instead. Shame, as TTW could have come out unedited five or so years earlier.

I don't know why the credits on the master tape of episode 4 faded between the captions instead of straight cutting between them, did any other episodes do this?

It's the same across all four parts. The captions were badly keyed in at the time.

@@PipMadeleyI’m surprised they don’t recreate the credits when restoring without using the original credits as a side-by-side reference!
