  • This is my EDC pocket dump, covering why I carry the items I carry from used to importance. This should serve as a starting point for most folks if you’re unsure of what to carry in your daily life. There are LOADS of tools out there, make sure you don’t get suckered into gadgets. Carry purposeful and useful tools that will help you in daily tasks and likely contingencies you may encounter.

    If you ever need a new wallet, the magpul daka bifold is awesome. Thin and minimal but the daka material is great for a wallet.

      I'm eyeballing some leather wallets with RFID blocking material built in. I have the Magpul slim Daka wallet that I used for some work based cards while I was active duty. Also doubled as my badge holder at work, despite the security folk being upset that it wasn't fully visible.

    @Blakewater, I've been wearing Bianchi OWB Leather holster and double mag pouches for 40+ years. Never had a problem with it softening nor collapsing. Bianchi is some of the best leather in the industry. I've NEVER liked IWB and, personally find it useless. My shirts cover no problem and they don't print, but I don't wear skin tight clothing. Just not comfortable for me.

    • @Blakewater0326
      @Blakewater0326  3 месяца назад +1

      @@TACTICALNOMAD IWB keeps the blaster tighter to you and does reduce printing. This is an undeniable fact, regardless of opinion. What it does change, is of course one would need to size up their pants a bit to accommodate. For overweight people IWB is less comfortable, so for those folks OWB may be the way they have to go until they can slim down.
      IWB also keeps the blaster more hidden as you move around, because the shirt lifting doesn’t reveal a holster; only more of your trousers/ shorts.
      Rigid holsters make more sense and hold up longer. There are plenty of examples out there of people negligently discharging their firearm into themselves because their holster collapsed or an external pressure was able to move the trigger during a tussle or sometimes simply leaning into something. No, leather is not an automatic “you’ll shoot your eye out”, however, it isn’t the smartest overall. You use leather, and that’s your choice. I won’t, nor will I recommend it over rigid materials such as kydex.

      If you're western NC there are some open enrollment classes listed for Waynesville, NC through www.oriontraininggroup.com/ that I will be instructing.

    Multiple knives but no medical? And in the vehicle doesnt count, the point of EDC is that you C-arry it E-very D-ay. Otherwise I've a full-on fighting load and spare tire as my EDC.

    • @Blakewater0326

      Yep. Carry it every day...in my truck. Wear it when I believe it's necessary. Outside that, I have the knowledge and training to improvise, which is what we will have to do in any serious crisis regardless. It's a hard pill to swallow that skills are more important than hardware, as most folks just want to carry gadgets and falsely equate that to capability.
      And yes, multiple knives because I like knives and carrying a few is mostly just entertaining for me while each knife does serve a specific purpose and redundancy. Such as cutting up clothing to make dressings and tourniquets.

    I stand by my opinion that the insistance on carrying concealed is the single greatest thing to happen to pro gun control groups ever. It takes law abiding gun owners that carry everywhere they go and turns them into mythical creatures. I know i carry and you know i carry but to a leftist or even a moderate people that carry might as well be bigfoot.
    I get why people feel concealing is important. There are a lot of good points that make a lot of sense. The catch is that the quality of people we are defending against has gone down and the price of carrying concealed has gone up. Im telling you if you ever end up using this thing its going to be in one of two situations. Either you have an active shooter that isnt smart enough to look for people carrying in the first place or someone that specificly has a problem with you in which case carring concealed not only isnt helping you its likely increasing the chances that person will resort to violence.
    The only argument for concealed carry that still matters in 2023 is the risk of someone reaching for your weapon. Im not gonna lie, its a risk and it happens. The key is being aware of whats around you, being responsible and having backups all of which you should be doing to some extent anyway. What it comes down to is your safety vs the safety of future generations. Are you willing to sacrafice the abilty of future generations to defend themselves for a bit of extra safety now. The choice is yours but if you do side with extra safety for you at the expense of future generations maybe not act like your the guy thats going to save the single woman in the parking lot. Just saying.

      Carrying concealed means the bad guys don't know who's carrying, as you stated. That means they don't target you first with an ambush before moving on to whatever nefarious task they might be up to, and there's the issue of having to wrestle for you blaster because everyone can see you with it.
      Carrying, whether concealed or open, is a responsibility that far too few take seriously. Guys who carry on empty chambers or never practice their draw because they think they'll have "time" to slowly bring out the gun.
      Carrying concealed is the responsible thing to do. Keeps everyone calm, and the bad guys guessing.
