My dad died when i was 16 and im still struggling at 35, i wish i was as strong as her, her husband was a lovely gentleman.
So sorry for your loss, they say times a healer. I don't believe that, it's almost 28yrs since I lost my dad to cancer and exactly 8wks my mum suddenly dropped dead in the street. I was a complete and utter mess. If only I had a small piece of the strength that Kate and the children have shown. Her husband was a good man, husband and father to the children
I was on sick leave for three short months to care for my 65 year old mum from August to November last year when she passed away after she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. This interview made me cry so much, through absolute admiration and sympathy for Kate and her beautiful, caring children. SO much of what you said resonated with my experience and feelings Ive had before and since her death, sending strength and love to them all ❤️

You are such a selfless person Kate. I send my greatest sympathies to you and your family. You are an absolute inspiration and woman of extreme courage. I'm a consultant in Emergency Medicine with children of the same age as yours. My mental heath has been damaged beyond belief from the covid years on top of all other tragedies that I see and have seen over 30 years in the job. You give me inspiration to be stronger, to pick up and carry on as a middle aged mum with so many stresses in a failing NHS. Thank you for being such an amazing role model.

I'm 33, I work full time and help care for a terminally ill sister and disabled dad, as my aging mother can't do it alone. Its hard - I see all my friends getting married, buying homes, getting promotions and I'm stuck, life on hold. But it's an extreme honour to help my family despite how hard it gets. Well done Kate!

I lost my husband suddenly 18 weeks ago he died in front of while I tried to resuscitate him. Yes you can be strong and I went back to work as a nurse but I'm still grieving and I can see myself in Kate. She is putting on a brave face just like I still am she has to do what she thinks is right for her. You shouldn't judge until you have lived it

Don't watch her if it annoys you. I don't watch GMB. Came across this accidentally. I do feel bad for anyone grieving. My husband had covid 3 times each time on ICU with complications and now long covid admitted 9 times this past 4 months struggling to breath heart issues diabetes was fit and healthy previously, not been well enough to work since. I think the fascination is that it all started with covid and as Kate is In the public eye and popular. Rip 🙏 to all who we lost to covid and since due to complications.
Well maybe you don't want to see it but other people do. And maybe they feel something listening to her. Maybe don't watch if you don't want to listen to her. But maybe people need to hear it.

Like what?? How to make money when your partners dying. Award ceremonies, camera crews in the bedroom when he was on his last, books, she certainly didn't give up any of her jobs that's for sure. I'm sure she'll have someone else in tow before long (if she hasn't already) and "poor Derek" won't even enter her mind.

I think that Kate is a very strong woman. Her children Darcey and Billy have been so supportive of their parents. I was shocked to see Darcey carrying her Dad's coffin it was very brave of her. How the family have got through this have thoroughly humbled me. Kate, Darcey and Billy have now got to start building their lives now. I really admire Kate, Darcey and Billy bless them all. What a beautiful & strong human being! Derek was v blessed 2 hve family he deserved. From what we now know, it is criminal that man-made Covid pandemic was allowed 2 break out, in 1st place! Kate now has added purpose 2 become a fantastic & tenacious campaigner, activist & ambassador for unsung professional heroes & heroines of Carers in the UK, so underpaid, undervalued & mostly immigrants. Im so sorry 4 yr loss & millions of others, less fortunate..

Kate my Mum died in 2020 April 26th from Medical Negligence. I took on caring for my Mum for 13 years and i had many fights with Social Services and the Hospital admin. I would love to come on GMB and speak with you so the public will hear my story. Its heart breaking that we have a care sector that's business profit based instead community based care. Kate you have a heart of Gold. God Be With You.
What arguments did you have with social services
I have sympathy for anyone who has lost their husband, my dad lost his wife my mother very young. It is so very painful, but at the same time, it is a private time.
But something that feels so uncomfortable is this over sharing with everyone about Derek. I mean we will never really know the truth on why he passed away, but as long as the whole country believes this was due to long covid, then a sucession of books, documentarys and god knows what else can help paddle this covid narrative. Yes its really sad, but there is no denying she is and will continue to make money off all this oversharing, something just doesnt pass the sniff test, I did hear "problems with addiction" but of course we will never ever really know. This mans very front and centre covid diagnosis did a great job supporting and helping the government paddle there lockdown justifications and keep this scare tactic going. I hope they all find peace and try and deal with this loss privately as a family I think his dignity must be respected at some point.

The caring profession is such a hard thing to do i respect all the ones who have chosen this way of life and the ones like you kate who have no choice but to be a carer so I just want to say thank you all it is not a job it is a vocation
