I thought I would miss Matty more, now we get to see him thriving on his own channel, whilst watching the podcast powerhouses smash these new videos. Absolutely LOVE what Mikey and Ryan are bringing to the channel, and appreciate their effort and relatable performance in front of camera. Big love from the UK. Smashing it lads!👍🏼 The TXG cell has multiplied and we're all the better for it. Roll on TXG in the Toon ⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪
I love the Rogue ST LS 3 wood. It looks good behind the ball and I love the shallow face. Sits flat and not upright and glides off the turf for the off the deck shots. Best fw I’ve hit in a while. I played the Sim2 last year and this one beat it out.
Good review. Would love to see Mike (slower swing speed) compare Rogue ST max 4/5 irons to 4/5 hybrids as that transition is something I’ll be looking at with a new set this year and Calloway offers both options.
Today, TXG fit me for Callaway irons & driver. Surprised me. Tomorrow, I'm back for woods and hybrids. Can't wait to see what else Callaway has to offer.
I would like to hear a little more about the shafts used, what shaft you would prefer and what shafts are available for the slower swing speed. Great work.
Second this. It would be great to see which of the stock shafts perfoms better for each of the three different swing speeds from Mikey to RB to Ian. That will give a better idea of the product to most consumers that do not have access to a top fitting facility like TXG
Hey txg would love to see an in-depth review of the Titleist 718 ap2 I know it’s old but a comparison between the t-series and the value in today’s market
I just don't understand the lack of adjustability - I'm still using an adjustable Callaway Epic Subzero 13.5 with the heavy weight forward and lofted to 14.5 because I've set it up for a draw - and if I change my bag around, which I've done many times, I can play it at 12.5-degrees, put the heavy weight at the back, and then hit 5 yard fades with it. I bought an unadjustable Rogue Subzero 5-wood as an experiment, but that thing was a hook machine and I will never make that mistake again.
Would love to see the same model used in different lofts during testing. I think that would give us consumers a great idea of distance gaps with certain models, especially the low spin ones. Great video as always
Callaway has been smashing it since Mavrik Sub-zero. It’s definitely getting more and more refined as we see that Jailbreak Tech evolve in Epic Speed and Rogue ST. When it comes to fairways, hybrids and drivers, they’re probably number 1 for me.
Excellent review. Not been this impressed by the Callaway line up since the GBB titanium series in the late 90’s. Will definitely be having a play with them at the range 😀👍
Great video! I think this proves that this year's regular model (not LS or Pro) in either driver or fairway/hybrid category may cover a huge demographics even including some high speed players. After watching several reviews I believe Callaway has done a great job in mixing foregivness and spin control in most models
Played the mavrik pro hybrid 3 with the KBS a shaft for last two years. Just switching to PXG Gen 4. Could play so many shots from high to low to knock downs when in the tree lines. Amazing sound and feel. Callaway has nailed the shape not to closed and not larger footprint. The only down side was the lack of adjustability.
I would love to see you guys test twist face strike for strike. I know Ian loves Taylormade but I was surprised to hear him leaning in to twist face. I’ve heard studies and multiple reviewers saying twist face does nothing, but I have never seen the results personally and would really like to know for certain.
@@clubchampionmedia mark crossfield today was of course discrediting it (not surprising) but he was talking about the year long study he did with tour players and himself and saw nothing in twist face. Would love to hear a conversation between you two about it.
@@clubchampionmedia Glad to hear it, Crossfield mentioned a 4 year test across the PGA Tour and his own 400 shot test in lockdown showed no benefit, then again he doesn’t believe in shafts either. I’ve also heard Shiels question it. I have a TM 3w myself, but would still love to see it tested.
@@ianshepherd6476 Perhaps there is merit in real world testing. I play clubs, that are well outdated (according to the marketing). I had an initial fit a decade ago and am shooting my lowest scores today (70s).
Another great video. Thanks. I have a ping g425 nine wood in the bag. Really liking it. My most consistent and straightest club in my bag. Can do a lot with it. Feels automatic. Fairway woods really suit my game and swing. The Nine wood is great on approach shots. Next club in the bag is 5 hybrid, 6 hybrid. Sometimes I stripe them but results can vary. They are not as easy or automatic. I am considering the st max 11 wood. To replace those pesky hybrids. Any thoughts? Would st max 11 wood hold a green?
Awesome video. Loving my Rogue Max 3 wood. Working it left & right. Looking forward to the Rogue ST Max driver review & how it compares to the Epic Max & Speed drivers. Come on Mikey, do for us, the average golfers. Ian, you should also show how it can compete with the Max LS as well on high SS distance. You did it last year with Epic Max, Speed & Max LS. Max won (even though it was 1* lower). I bought the Rogue st Max driver, 10.5 set to 8.5 & it out performed the Epic Max & LS. Keeping my Epic Max LS since it outperformed the Rogue Max LS. Let’s see what you get if you compare them as well. You guys have lots to do with the Rogue drivers. Looking forward to it. Yes, I’m a Callaway woods guy. Thanks.
Great review… another review you might do someday would be a shaft comparison between GD tour AD XC, Tensei white raw, Tensei white 1K, evenflow white t1100. Maybe you can tell what I’m getting at. Tip stiff, stability focused, low launch, low spin shafts.
Ian - what's your take on forgiveness of the st ls? I've hit it and it performed really well. It seems that tungsten weight is 28g in all the heads so the biggest difference for the ls is the added circular weight near the face. How's st ls compare to stealth and stealth+ 3w?
I think if you need fade bias it is better to go into the adjustable range of the Epic. Callaway seem to be releasing an adjustable range one year and non-adjustable the next. Personally I think this is good because I can get a low spin driver or fairway wood without it looking like I am going to push it 20 yards right but people who want that fade bias also have a range so Callaway have a really good spread of clubs for all tastes and profiles of golfer.
Good comparison. Struggling with filling my bag and these are top of list. Like the look and sound of fairway woods. Especially the LS model. Probably more preferred ball flight with the hybrid, although I hate the shape. Waiting to test the Pro hybrid because of the more attractive shape. Then no clue the best way to fill between driver and 5 iron.
i was in a fitting for a fairway wood, LS was love at first swing and it just kept delivering. also didnt thnk i would like the av blue as much as i do
I like that Ian was a bit frustrated with the pro hybrid, its nice for a little bit of negativity/criticism. Not every club has to be all sunshine and rainbows
I definitely want the 3 wood . I’m thinking around July they will be 65% off regular price on eBay. Callaway just dosent hold any 2nd hand value anymore
Not sure I could invest in a bonded hybrid. Having adjustability in that section of the bag can make such a difference when getting gapping right during a season.
Great review from Ian's perspective - my gut wanted to see RB and Mike try all these as well, but I can see that really dragging the video long. I do really hope we can get a full bag fitting video series with Mike and RB with the year's product. Side note - I'm jealous that Ian can get such good fairway wood strikes with a 1.5-2* up AoA. If I saw those numbers I'd be in full on panic mode
Indeed, he said a couple times he caught the ball a bit thin, but off the carpet, there's not a lot of vertical room for error on the strike without bouncing into the ball and getting a flub topper! At least grass and dirt compress a bit, fitting floors not so much.
Max line performed better for Ian it seems. Looks like the 3h was too hot in comparison with numbers of the 3w, might need a 4h in that line for proper gaping. Would have liked to see hydrid max line compared w their more lofted woods to see performance differences
Great video boys! any chance you guys can take a look at the new Wilson Triad balls? They seem pretty interesting would love to have you guys check em out
Couple times now Ian has commented on how much twist face has helped his shots. Just watched Mark Crossfield basically say twist face does absolutely nothing. Curious if may be you guys can do a test to see if it does help.
If you listen to Mark closely, he says twist face doesn’t help him. It actually hurts him because an open faced toe strike with twist face doesn’t come back nearly as much as Driver with bulge and roll.
I love Callaway drivers, their fairway woods are not for me. I tried the epic 3 wood and was very disappointed. For me personally, I need to flatten my woods and hybrids, something Titleist does extremely well.
Same here. Callaway driver & TaylorMade fairways & hybrids. Although I've chatted a little by replacing my 5-wood with a 17 degree Callaway Super Hybrid.
It honestly feels like RB was muscled into these videos by Club Champions to read a sales pitch for new clubs off a script. It really takes away from the experience of the channel. I'm not sure if I'll stay subscribed.
