  • In this episode of Masterworks: Expert Voices, join Ferrari Historian Marcel Massini and RM Sotheby’s Ian Kelleher in an exploration of an extraordinary 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.
The third of only 36 examples built, the Ferrari GTO on offer has passed through an unbroken chain of ownership that includes some of the most prominent Ferrari collectors in the world. From early owners Eduardo Lualdi-Gabardi and Gianni Bulgari to current owner Dr. Gregory Whitten, this 250 GTO has “an exceptional race history” and contains “95% or more of the original body work”. The 250 GTO will be offered as the centerpiece of RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey Auction, 24-25 August.

This car and the car which was Phil Hill's personal car (given to him by Enzo) and which the Hill Family still owns (as far as I know) are the TWO best examples of the Model and MARQUE and are of the two different styles. Oh to own them both!!!!

Don cankook your a fucking idiot car culture is so much bigger than you and the 250 gto was a racing icon and still is Enzo Ferrari founded the company in the 1920s you know during the financial crisis around the world it was his and everybody who has ever worked at Ferrari dream to race and race fast they even built the first car to do over 200 mph or over 320 Kmh Ferrari is still the pinnacle of form functionality and furious speed today and if you think that the car should do nothing els but get you point a to point be and sit in the garage all day till needed then you sir are a peace of shit no good to society or the human race fuck you.

Ok I would just like to say that the gto in question is actually a 1964 250 gto I’m a history buff when it comes to Ferrari and I can tell you that the gto has two body styles over the gto s three year production run the 1962 gto had normal tail pipes the 1963 model had side pipes and the 1964 gto had the second gen body only 64s had this body and only a small group of gto’s Where built in 64 so I can say that is a 1964 250gto series 2 body.
