I appreciate your openness and honesty talking about these difficult things. There was one thing I wanted to add to this and it’s pointed to married brothers. Use your sexuality as a drive to be a better husband and also to view your sexuality as a gift for your wife. If you cultivate it in such a way where you aren’t using it up wasting time watching porn or even just lusting after women it can be such a life changing experience in your marriage if you focus all of it on satisfying your wife. This has been a big battle in my life for a long time and when I finally saw sexuality as a gift from God rather than a vice it’s changed everything! Remain faithful to your upward calling brother!
My biggest issue as of late is boredom, "idle hands" if you will. The pulse comes and my resilience is trash.
I completely understand that. My best word of advice (and this is advice I rarely follow even to this day out of the stubbornness of my flesh) but when you find yourself idle like that, fill it with something productive. It can be working out, or a new hobby, hanging out with people, or even reading the Word (or memorizing it!) because those are all things that will bear fruit in life. I cannot recommend it enough, but I understand firsthand the difficulty of applying it day to day. May the Lord be with you through this battle, my friend.
Just don’t be by yourself at moments when the pulse is likely to come in hard, and always be asleep before 10PM
@@danielmunsaka2051 as a 16 year old boy, I make sure all my electronic devices are with my parents before I go to bed. It removes the temptation of using them when I'm alone.
As a drummer, I go to my drums and play along to some worship music. I have a dog so I sometimes walk her. Sometimes i just have to go outside my house for 20 mins and pray until the temptation leaves. And above all these things, read God's word!
Use that energy for physical or mental labor, keep those idle hands active, it’s easiest to resist when you’re tired from working out that day

I think one of the big mistakes we make especially when it comes to lust is to put confidence in our flesh. If we watch or listen to things whuch are not conducive to living a pure life, we cannot be suprised when we fall in this area. The same goes for those we keep company with. Your flesh will use any opportunity it can to keep you in lust, don't trust it.
We need to consume only that content which is conducive to living a pure life. Hang around those who create an environment of godliness.
Another verse I found very useful was in the book of James:
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you."
He’s right. I’ve been doing this for a long while. I’m still doing it. I say I can control it. That I can hold the fire to my chest and not get burned. But in reality, I only last for so long before I allow myself to fall. It’s a problem I have.
This was exactly the video I needed. I've been tied to lust for so long, but today is the day I break free, even though it will be a long road, it will be worth it. It's time to pursue God with all my heart, soul, and mind.
Read the book atomic habits because at the end of the day, you need to understand how habits form, how to identify triggers, how to put road blocks in those bad habits in order that you never fall to list again. God gave us the ability to know information like this so we need to learn it and use it for his glory and his alone. Your will just isn’t strong enough at the end of the day and we need to fundamentally hack our system in order that we break these addictions.
Brother, let me commend you by saying that I appreciate your vulnerability and desire to seek His face and to wage war against that plague of lust. Take all this as secondary and bring it to God ofcourse, but just remember man, the more we seek Him, the more we will continue to grow. Accountability is beautiful and it's important and needed, but it's not to crush you to the point to where if you fall once, that God's done with you. It's for building up, honesty and even as Isaac said it, an encouragement to be driven to want to live a life of purity.
I used to be an addict and even struggled with lust, thoughts, etc. I just got delivered from a spirit of lust and brother I promise you there is freedom! That doesn't mean sinlessness, but goodness gracious, bro seek a relationship with the Holy Spirit and I promise you it'll pay off. The head of the church Himself, go to Him and He will help you. He will help you on that road and growing in repentance, but also on what He did on the cross for you, grace, mercy and forgiveness, and from there He will propel you into following convictions, obedience and yes Holiness. But Holiness without grace is legalism. Just remember that. Trust me man, I'm a testimony. He loves you, go to Him and know that you desire to have victory over lust, He will guide you into it. It doesn't mean we are not prone, that's why we keep our eyes on Him and Take up the armor of God and block the attacks of the enemy and be careful. And also make sure we don't put ourselves in those situations to be attacked or tempted. There is grace, it's not our own efforts, it's His strength. But don't give up, It's not about perfection, it's about progress. That's sanctification and it's an everyday thing. Remember, the righteous fall 7 times, but they still get up and rise up.
Also, just for advice, the devil likes to plant darts/thoughts into your mind and convince you that they are yours to keep you in bondage. He will use your imperfections against you. He's done it to me, but through deliverance it was brought to my attention. The Holy Spirit loves us, and just keep seeking Him man. Seek Deliverance if needed, I would recommend 813 centurion Ministries. They are amazing siblings in Christ. That's where I got my deliverance. But trust me, the Lord will help us and holds us accountable. I just quit my job to avoid lust, sexual perversion and temptation in ways that were putting me in danger of getting attacked or falling into it habitually. It was the environment and His conviction led me out. It was that I would be more prone and that I was already being pulled into it. But yes, we have to take responsibility for our actions, repent and confess our sins, but there is grace and mercy and it's not about perfection, it's about progress and seeking His face in the word and on that secret place with the Holy Spirit. The spirit of lust, or even jezebel, perversion, pornography, all them, will make it hard for you to feel free or be free. So, work on your heart with Him, and I would highly recommend deliverance. Your father is there the entire time and you can trust Him. Brother it will help us, as we continue to press into Him and have victory over lust. It's not about being sinless, it's about knowing Jesus finished it at the cross and there is deliverance, mercy and forgiveness for you. Start with accountability apps of needed, filter key word apps, and even an honest heart self examination. But go to the Holy Spirit above all else, He loves you and won't give up on you and will give you grace and help you grow, even if it's painful. He loves you brother. God bless and hope this helped.

Man...guys pay attention to what Issac is saying here. These are words of wisdom spoken from experience. Try to embark on the journey of discovering what true manhood means and what its like to live it out. Give yourself grace, give yourself time, but don't give yourself a way out.
Addiction is impossibly hard. Not truly impossible, but so hard to overcome that it feels like you'll never be free. God loves you all, don't give up on yourselves or the beautiful story that God is building out of your mess.

It'll take too long and im pushing 33. So yes I give up on myself. I give up on this desire for a wife. I was never good enough for one and I just have to get used to it.

Yes, it's like we are who we spend time around, in a sense.. if someone looked at the RUclipsrs that I watch or even the people I talk to then I think they would have a pretty good image of me. I feel alone sometimes but I'm not embarrassed or ashamed of what I watch and who I talk to. Would you watch/do this thing around Jesus?

depends on your browser, if it supports UBlock Origin, that works on all ads for me
although if you're on mobile I don't think you can put a blocker into the app, unless you use a browser

Growing up the females in my family all pushed the idea of dating and getting a girlfriend ecer since being in 1sr grade. Any girl i talk to must be a gf or someone i like according to them and still to this day, 30 now. It has psychologically ruinee me so now i cant be friends with women without wanting to date them fast. I feel guilt any time i try to just be friends because my intentions feel impure due to my family. All that plus lust makes time around women scarey and sickening.

Thanks for this message. Never thought about this pov before from the perspective of what your watching and giving your time to would you share that also with your friends and family. Would you be brave enough to bring that darkness into the light and turn away from it once and for all being led by Christ. That can be any type of media/entertainment. I appreciate this and I'm definitely going to start purging more from my life and serving Christ more however I can.

It doesn't make any sense that you have to spend time with someone you want to be more like. How could a healthy friendship form if someone is trying to live up to the level of the other person, while they should also be trying to be more like you? Or is it just one-sided and the better off person is basically your mentor? Is every friendship a mentorship? I've never understood that concept.
So basically when he says the people (friends) you surrounded yourself with is the person you become.
It’s not necessarily a mentorship but more like a comfort thing.
Like let’s say you’ve never been a gamer and your friend is. He says we should play a bit sometime, people will most likely say okay. You play one game and eventually another until you both play every weekend and this happens with just talking or joking around about anything even sexually because you guys are friends so you guys are comfortable but of course is you don’t hang around often and are a different person then they are, also don’t talk much to each other then you’re most likely to separate from them that’s what happens after high school because are they really your friends or people you know, hopefully this can help out brother!
I think the key point is that both should be living to be like Jesus, and in that case you can use help, mentorship or look up to some qualities of the other person, as Paul mentions in some of his epistoles.
I don't think it's always mentorship.
It's also the value system of the friends that matters.
If you spend time with born-again Christian people, even if they make mistakes or have bad habits, you as a group are all trying to grow together.
With worldly friends, the influence is negative.

@@mrspeedysmax64 It makes sense to me that worldly influence can be negative for ourselves, but I have compassion for the lost. How are we supposed to make disciples? If we spend too much time with people of the world, we become like them, but wouldn't they become more like us? If we spend a little bit of time with people of the world, is the impact really felt? If we're just in our Christian incubators all the time, how are we supposed to be a light to the dark world? I really struggle with this logically
