It’s a shame this event didn’t last beyond the ‘90s (to my knowledge, which may be incorrect). The Baker format was always interesting to watch, and you got to see a lot of people who were not professional bowlers for a living take part. But Prime typically aired these on weekday afternoons, which meant it would never have the same clout as the PBA on ABC and ESPN, which aired live (with some occasional exceptions on the ABC telecasts).
Despite this I watched a few of these anyway in my high school years. It was one of the few places of solace I could count on at the time. It didn’t hurt that I recognized Jay Randolph and Earl Anthony from NBC’s PBA Fall Tour coverage (1984-1991).

The thing that breaks my heart is that these were exciting to be a part of, brackets galore, thousands being won, all kinds of different styles on tough conditions.
Now if this was on today it’d be a bunch of two handers throwing urethane. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
