- A quick look at my 1’ x 6.5’ HO Scale switching layout that I have tucked away in the corner of my garage. Another example of how you can fit a small train layout in places you might not think you can.

I'm currently building a layout in my room
[00 scale]
The beauty of a railroad layout is that there is always some small project or another to keep you busy.
Years ago a built a small 4x8 room addition to my house and build an American Flyer shelf layout along the two adjoining walls that didn't have doors.
Nice layout! Love those baby hi cubes
You have a beautiful semi big semi medium size layout. I love the arrangement on it. The engine & Boxcars love the roadnames.
Superb
Just because you can fit a layout does not mean you can fit a complete loop. That said after about 15 years of never having the combination of space, money, and time, I was able to start building my 10'x4' OO layout recently, and I am very happy with it.
yea front yard HO Yarden Railway is my solution- I used Bachman silver nickel plated, EZ-track it has taken the hot sun here in SoCal pretty well ! ❤ Thanks for sharing - the lizards in my garage will poop on the tracks just for kicks! 😂
"Lizard Plate Road"😅😅😅 Maybe we can get one for an engineer
I agree, there's always room for a train layout! My latest H0 layout is 95 x 85 cm 🙂
95 cm is like 37.4". That is a tight space.
I am still not a metric person.
I built a 23' X 9" n scale layout in my garage alongside my 2nd garage bay. The 9" width means I can still park a 2nd car in my garage, while still allowing for 3 lines of track. I have light rail trains that travel the northbound track, switchover to the southbound side at the last stop, and then reverses to go southbound. Then I repeat at the end of that run.
love this idea
I’m building a 70x70cm n scale train layout in my room I’m just getting started this month on this amazing project and I’m so happy to be running trains😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thank you 👍 Great videos!
Brilliant deduction! 👍🏻😁
thank you Steve!!👍👍💙
Nice one, sir. Many thanks for the demonstration!
Thank you.
My current and first one I'm working on at the moment is a 1x4 ethanol plant, it's been a wild ride for making my first layout. Then once mine is done, off I go to make my little brother his own 1x4
thank you for showing it...great layout..
you can also fit an n scale layout in a briefcase
I'm in the UK and I've seen smaller HO layouts. This is cool, though.
I had 1 in the shed. Then moved it to the living room with 2 fold down tables sides. It was 6x4 closed and 4x8 opened. Worked great.
I currently building a H0m Railroad myself
Rheatian Railroad in winter with moving sleds,2,70m x 0,90m.
Finding a place for my layout isn’t the problem, having the funds is
Yes, it's getting very expensive. I miss the days of $5 kits and 25 cent track sections. And that wasn't that long ago.
Exactly I'll stick to fishing 🎣 😄
@@David-yo5readjusting for inflation, the kits are roughly the same amount and have more detail, however the track has been blown out of proportion if you aren't buying atlas snap or flex track.
You're just not looking in the right places for cheap stuff, go to a train show with $100, and you can leave with 6 coaches, 3 freight cars, 2 cabooses, and a locomotive if you haggle and make deals.
Awesome idea , does the train turn around or just straight.
Just straight
Still cool 😎
its really nice but i like full circuts to run trains on
So groovy! ❤🎉
You should try a British layout sometime. There are lots of nice narrow gauge and industrial engines for lines like this
Thank you fonally a 6' layout. Ive got a 6 by maybe 2' space still drcodong if i wanna use thr full space as a freemo module or not
Used 2 run a 3 rail ; don't have it now : worse luck but I'll have 2 get a n other layout as it's sadly missed !
Keep up the good work Steve ; v enjoyable !
i wish i had that
Dude u have more stuff in the garage than I have in my house.. lll😅
Mission accomplished. Lol
That's awesome. I'm working on one that goes around my ceiling. How do you make you flat buildings look that good?
excellent switching layout! The British are also quite good at making short interesting switching layouts, often using a track cartridge at the neck of the turnout arrangement to allow car selections to be shuffled on and off the shelf layout
You might have the room but the main thing that is hard is time😂
@@RylandEaly this is true, and why I only get like 4-5 hours of sleep the majority of nights now. Between my day job, my volunteer work in the evenings and Saturdays at my son’s high school, and doing YT, time is certainly hard to come by and the biggest limiting factor.
I have room, just not enough money
Just use N scale, or if you really don’t have space use Z scale
Is that Burlington Northern boxcar an old athearn bluebox kit? I have one and its great, I thought I recognized it
It isn’t a blue box kit but it might be an Athearn one. I don’t remember but I do have some Athearn cars but I don’t remember what is what.
Great short video Steve especially of that little switching layout in your garage! I'm a disabled Delawarian due to a hereditary nerve disease and was wondering if you could donate a sticker to my railroad room I'm creating. Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA
I don’t have any stickers at the moment, I’ll have to try and get a batch at some point soon.
Or get T scale?
That’s not acceptable for me. I sold my house and I had a 27 x 24 layout and now I don’t have a basement and I only have a garage that’s not happening. I do have a backyard and I’m considering all options doing a outdoor backyard, HO scale, layout.
Bro my garage collapsed in January theres no switching layout going in there
Oh man, sorry to hear that.
What railroad is that locomotive?
Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway (Chicago area).
Thank you @@StevesTrains! Also love the layout!
Would have gone N scale
I sort of like N scale and O scale better than HO scale for switching actually. Each of those have distinct advantages whereas HO is mostly a compromise of both.
Proof you do have room for a train layout n scale
What's the track plan, man?
Layout in American Flyer Is too big for closet. Land lords don't allow working layouts anyway.
👍😎🇲🇽
I _know_ I don't have room for a train layout, not even at N gauge.
I’m building a T-Gauge layout on a hat that I’ll have a video on in a couple of weeks hopefully.
@@StevesTrains How thrilling. Around and around and around she goes. Woo-hoo.
@@craigcorson3036wow, I can't believe you don't got what you want with an attitude like that!
I run mine above the window on a shelf circling the room! Pain in the butt to maintain!
I’ve wanted to add something like that to my office. I’m sure the maintenance is problematic.
@StevesTrains also bad when we had a 6.4 magnitude earthquake!
Yikes, bad for the trains and worse for your head if they fall on you!
Meh, I could get something bigger than that in N scale
A closet? Really?
2 x the modeling in N scale. I'm just saying.
HA! i dont have a garage
Not having room for a layout is a lie, take t scale for example
sorry but it’s just a diorama at this point…
I don’t have a garage 💀💀💀💀💀
I have three kids. bought a bunk bed and moved them all into one room. It's cramped for them, but now I have just a room for my trains. My trains. They can take turns watching me play.
Lol don't have a house XD
