  • The Greek Islands are a photography playground. On an afternoon in Ios, Greece, I go out for some landscape photography.

    My Camera Gear: bit.ly/BvSGear
It's hot here in Greece. But, I manage to fight through the heat for some landscape photography over on some rocks on the island of Ios. Ios, Greece is one of the lesser travelled islands and not nearly as photographed as places like Santorini, Mykonos, or even Naxos. But, it's beautiful. And despite the fact that I'm supposed to be on vacation, I can't help but do some landscape photography.

I'm curious: landscape photographers, when you go on vacation, do you ever leave your cameras behind and just chill??

Never. The light is amazing and the colours BOUNCE. Looking forward to your visit to Serifos. Loved our visit there.

I can't. Not that I am a real landscape photographer yet. But I always want to have a camera to not miss something epic. The world has so much to offer.

Not exclusively landscape, but if I went on vacation without my camera I'm pretty sure I would just straight up die

      I was wondering : 90% camera, 10% chill ?? .... Naahhh .... 100% camera ... :-) Kind regards, Guy.

I came across this saying that reminded me of BvS "Benevolent and wise people note their own nature and aptitude, even their own spiritual state of being through mountains and water, hence their happiness at the sight of natural scenery" and dam you are happy when your near water with your camera. Great video 😎👍

The Greek Islands are magical, you can not help soaking up everything they offer. We all need a holiday to relax and recharge the batteries, enjoy.

What a beautiful location! Even if I am supposed to "relax" on a vacation, I would still be the one out taking pictures and video. That's how I relax! 😁

Looks like a great adventure...that island just seems calm, which is awesome. Good choice on the sea stacks! Looking forward to Milos!

Great to see another video! Looks amazing, love all the editing, must be a ton of work. I feel a little like I traveled there but didn’t have to deal with the pain of leaving my house:)

Nice video and great advice about exploring unpopulated areas alone. Years ago when I first got into photography as a hobby I went to Paris and spent 9 days running around ticking off my shot list. At the end, I realized I hadn't gone to a single museum, spent more than a few minutes over a coffee, or otherwise enjoyed what that magical city has to offer. I vowed never to do this again. Now I always include time for sightseeing, relaxed dining, cultural activities and just hanging out in my itinerary, along with time for photography. I don't see the point in coming home with a bunch of great photos of a place I didn't (really) visit.

Totally agree. The way I do it now is I split my time (on holiday trips). Sunrise for photography, afternoons for exploring.

Nice to see you left the flip-flops in the room and wore some proper footwear on your hike.
    Carry on. 👍🥂 🥾

It's amazing that you can still get excited about seascapes. Considering you live in Lagos!

Haha, I like "new". Lagos has great seascapes, but I've photographed most of them. I always get more excited about finding/discovering new things.

About the deaths, I'm surprised this hasn't been the "trend" earlier. In Croatia, we've ben having these problems eith tourists for at least two decades if not more. They go hiking without enough or any water and juice/isotonic drinks (water is neccessary, but not smart alone) in hot weather with scorching sun, and seldom shade, no food or barely a snack, no hat, and to top it off, not only are our coastal mountains more dangerous than most hikes in Greece, but also tourists go hiking in flip flops, slides or sandals.
The mountain rescue service has hands full of them every summer, and while fortunately most are smart enough to at least call for help in time, we still have multiple dead every year. Some because of what I've mentioned, some because they aren't aware of their surroundings and how dangerous our mountains are (or they want to try their luck), and they fall off cliffs into hardly accessible areas. Most of the time by the time they're finally found, they're dead. And those found in time can take hours or even up to two days to be extracted.
But some go missing and who knows if they will ever be found. The mountain rescue service has awareness campaigns for tourists every year and billboards all over Croatia, and so many still manage to ignore them.

Great video again Brendan showing the beauty of Greece. I am off again on holiday soon with my wife and I always have a hard decision to make, do I take just my iPhone, compact camera or DSLR camera. Do I want the weight of the DSLR plus lenses to carry in the heat, what lenes do I take, I always seem to leave the lens I want at home. Decisions, decisions!

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  Месяц назад +1

Haha, I always say: "I'll just bring one lens and one body" and then am like, "well I did pay for entire carry-on". haha

Dude. RUclips constantly unsubscribes me from your channel. I’ll be thinking that dude hasn’t put out a video in awhile and you are not in my subscribers list. Probably need to ask them what’s up. I can’t be the only one.
