Just a recommendation in order to save your drills. You should lower the speed for drilling especially with bigger drills otherwise you risk burning them. Also you should tram that tailstock as its not centered with the chuck. You can see the center drill wondering until finding the center. Good job.
Tram tail stock or check for cylinder wear on tail stock bore or quill. You have massive run out. You should also use a shock coupling to connect motor to gear box to save wear on the gear box bull and pinion gears.
In order to start a tap straight you need to put it in the drill press and start it and then shut it off and just before it looses momentum you start it into the piece you are taping and then hold it down and undo the chuck and finish with the hand chuck. Simple to do to ensure a straight tap.
hello sorry I have the same motor that you have you coupled it as you did and has no force stops, I used a gearbox screw without end, to start and increase the force requires a simple reducer with 4 gears, yours and 'so .... yours and only simple gearbox ? Thank you answer me I bless you from Italy Sicily Palermo
As I have very little knowledge regarding lathes can I ask why it is I often see the centering bit walk off center when drilling ? I have seen this many times in other videos as well. thanks
Dang dude your hailstorm is way off center with your headstock! Even that center drill walked over to find the center. You might want to slow your spindle speed up about 75% when you're usin those bigger drills and a little lube or coolant wouldn't hurt either. A self taught machinist is always learnin. I learn somethin new every day my damn self. I would imagine you've taken care of that tailstock by now. Nice hoist idea.
Nice build, but hang on, you use lubrication when you tap the threads because its something your doing manually, but don't use any lubrication when that poor machine saw is cutting, nor when your machine lathe is drilling... Those poor, poor tools... :'-( Hope you were nice to them after and resharpened their cutting edges?...
Thanks for the video I enjoyed all 3 videos on your electric hoist.
Good winch turned out!

Bug in the shaft and centered welding? A dubious thing.
Interesting project. Doug

I think you should had cut a key way into your coupler

👍
What kind of motor is that? Can it pull some good weight without the gear box?
Moi j’utilise un flector pour accoupler le moteur à la boite vitesses
👍👍
thanks ..good you idea.
