@@SomenathGarai Students usually choose KGEC becoz they couldn't get a seat in CU (for same branch). Yes the seat intake in CU CSE is low (~20) compared to KGEC CSE (~60) but that doesnot justify the huge gap in closing rank. There is a clear gap in quality in terms of students, faculties, infrastructure and other parameters which comes into play for having such low closing ranks in CU. Despite the fact that 4year BTech started in 2015, placements in CU is bound to increase day by day becoz it is widely recognised all over world for producing most notable scientist and working professionals who are at leading positions in every sector imaginable. For that reason CU is also being featured among top 5 universities in almost every top rankings. KGEC being a regional/local college doesnot stand a chance in front of CU. And as of 2021 it's too naive to even imagine that CU can be compared to any local college under WBJEE. Dont think I am discouraging KGEC in any way. It is a good college no doubt. If you got a seat in KGEC then congrats, but also remember many students from KGEC will gladly leave their seats for CU in same branch. I witnessed the same during spot roundd of CU.

Highest on-campus for CSE was 12LPA by TCS digital (Arko Roy) and I am NOT talking about off-campus stats here... Highest on-campus offer from KGEC was 7 Lpa... Off campus offers are subject to market conditions and skills of the individual.... College plays no role in that ! Last year Shivraj bhaiya from CU CSE got placed in Work Application Singapore through offcampus interview and you can easily predict his CTC (which is NOT appropriate for me to mention in this context)...

Obviously CUCSE is better. KGEC CSE have hardly 2-3 faculties for 40+ students and that too faculties are CU alumni. There is no such renowned alumni of KGEC CSE whereas the alumni of CU CSE include the present director of ISI Kolkata (Dr.Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay), HOD of CSE dept of Jadavpur University (Dr.Ujjwal Maulick) & IIT Kharagpur (Dr.Dipanwita Roychoudhury), One of the top AI/ML Scientist presently in India (Dr.Sankar Kumar Pal) and the list goes on. CU Engineering also produced the highest number of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardees by CSIR for engineering which is the highest honour in India.

If someone is aiming for core branches then GG xD. This is not entirely fault of the economic condition of state/country, rather the below par quality of engineers these colleges produce. No one gives a double fuck about MAKAUT outside west bengal as it is unranked and not recognized, thus aspirants aiming for higher studies also have lesser scope. On the contrary, CU is internationally known for the quality of graduates it produce (mostly due to the tough and rigorous curicullum) and an engineer from CU certainly holds high regard among recruiters and faculties in both industrial and academic setup. Most companies don't visit CU often becoz of low supply of graduates and many among them prefer higher studies over job. Yes, students from departments like ECE, Optics, IT, CSE would happily turn down a 5-10lpa job for MS/direct PhD from Stanford, Northeastern, TU Munich, Max Planck Institute, ETH Zurich, EPFL, etc or MTech from IISc. This is not the case for students in KGEC. I dont want to demean an institute simply becoz of its affiliation with a 3rd class univ. like Makaut but judging it only on basis of handful of students (one or two) getting above average package and that also from off campus interview is very WRONG and this perception needs to be changed.

Yes. There is no doubt CU is far superior to MAKAUT affiliated colleges including KGEC. From placement point of view CU median ctc is 9.03 Lpa which is highest after JU.

CSE, ECE, EE, IEE students will study physics whereas CE, CT, PST & JFT will study chemistry...

Outdated content - Now Calcutta university offer most of the seat only to domicile candidate. Just like Jadhavpur. So, non domiciles have rarely any chance.
Go for CU obviously... Last year one guy (Saraswat Mazumdar GMR 1.4k) left IEM CSE for CU CSE in spot round becoz he was not getting it in normal rounds... I shifted my branch from IEM ECE to CU IEE in spot round which I couldn't get in normal counseling due to very high cutoffs... CU placement stats for newly passout batch in 2019 was much better compared to IEM... Also the fees is like 30k for entire BTech and median package as of NIRF report is 6.24LPA (Although CSE has much better stats)
C.U. - Chemicial Engineering, Chemical Technology & Polymer science technology... These branches have very good demand in industry and undoubtedly CU is the best place to study ... The median package is above 6 Lpa and highest is 15 Lpa last year... the department also provides 100% placements...
yes hostel milega... class commence hone ke few days badd aak form ayega... usko fill karoge, to hostel milega but tumhara house atleast 60Km away hona chahiye... Cu hostels are excellent especially the rajabazar and ballygunge one... The hostel rent per month is just rupees 40 and Electricity is 80. So anual fees comes out around 1440 rupees in total.
@@kingengine1155 Just be regular in classes. That's the only way to get good score in CU. Maintain good notes of subject and if you manage to score 8.5cgpa+ you can get good circuit branches like EE or IE. For ECE and CSE the cgpa requirement is most ,typically above 9. Good luck

Go for CU obviously... Last year one guy (Saraswat Mazumdar GMR 1.4k) left IEM CSE for CU CSE in spot round becoz he was not getting it in normal rounds... I shifted my branch from IEM ECE to CU IEE in spot round which I couldn't get in normal counseling due to very high cutoffs... CU placement stats for newly passout batch in 2019 was much better compared to IEM... Also the fees is like 30k for entire BTech and median package as of NIRF report is 6.24LPA (Although CSE has much better stats)

C.U. - Chemicial Engineering, Chemical Technology & Polymer science technology... These branches have very good demand in industry and undoubtedly CU is the best place to study ... The median package is above 6 Lpa and highest is 15 Lpa last year... the department also provides 100% placements...

yes hostel milega... class commence hone ke few days badd aak form ayega... usko fill karoge, to hostel milega but tumhara house atleast 60Km away hona chahiye... Cu hostels are excellent especially the rajabazar and ballygunge one... The hostel rent per month is just rupees 40 and Electricity is 80. So anual fees comes out around 1440 rupees in total.

@@kingengine1155 Just be regular in classes. That's the only way to get good score in CU. Maintain good notes of subject and if you manage to score 8.5cgpa+ you can get good circuit branches like EE or IE. For ECE and CSE the cgpa requirement is most ,typically above 9. Good luck
