I recently had the chance to review three new Skullcandy headphones: Skullcandy Indy, Skullcandy Indy Fuel, and Skullcandy Indy Evo. In this review, I’ll look at each model, and I’ll also get into some of the similarities and differences.
What each of these Skullcandy models have
I’ll try to keep this simple and organized, by starting out sharing what each of these headphones has first: all are truly wireless in-ear earbuds with Bluetooth connectivity, each comes with a charging case, each is IP55 water resistant, and they all have touch controls on the buds.
What’s different
Let’s look at some of the features that set each earbud apart:

Now that you know what sets each one apart, I’ll dive in on what it’s like to use each one…
Skullcandy Indy
Fit & feel
These earbud have a good sound isolating fit that seals out outside noise very well. They may feel a bit big and bulky, and they do fill up the ear concha, and while I was only wearing them for short bursts, I could see these becoming uncomfortable after a while.. They also stick out from the ears a lot, but the rounded edges mean they don’t feel like they’re catching on hair and hands.
Sound quality
What these earbuds lack in colour options and creative design, they make up for in bass. The moment I put these on, I was wowed by the bass and how substantial it is. Overall the sound quality is outstanding and I was quite surprised that this entry level modelsounds as good as it does.
For $60, I think these are an outstanding value.
Skullcandy Indy Evo
Pairing problems
Right away the biggest downside of these for me is the pairing process (the fact there’s an entire page of instructions with 8 steps in the manual should be a clue). It’s complicated, and difficult and I struggled to get them to pair to my iphone. They biggest issue seems to be that each bud wants to try to pair to the phone individually (two versions of Indy Evo show up in the Bluetooth menu) and once one bud is paired, the other won’t connect (I tried pairing to both an iPhone 11 and a new Samsung Note 20 and had the same issues).
Fit & feel
With their edgy silicone loops, these definitely fit snugly in the ear. With a much more rounded design than the Indy, they seems like they protrude a lot less too. Even so, I found these quite ear-filling and uncomfortable after just 20 minutes.
Sound quality
I was surprised that I found these didn’t sound as good as the Indys. The overall sound quality was a bit flat and the bass wasn’t as striking.
I never got a good chance to use Ambient Mode, where the earbuds let in some noise so you can hear what’s happening around you. The tap sequence to get this turned on is extremely difficult to manage: ‘tap once and hold two seconds’. The buds kept reverting to adjusting the volume and skipping a track (other tap controls). Only once was I able to get Ambient mode turned on and it sounded really kind of rough and staticky and hollow.
Skullcandy Indy Fuel
Pairing process:
I had a similar issue pairing these as I did with the Evo. See above.
Fit & feel
The fit on these is identical to the Evos. With those silicone loops, these are similarly snug in the ear. With a much more rounded design than the Indy, they seems like they protrude a lot less too. Even so, I found these quite ear-filling and uncomfortable after just 20 minutes. I asked my husband to try them out and he said they felt pretty comfortable for him (and kind of stole them from me).
Sound quality
The sound quality is good; I’d say it’s pretty much equal to the Evo.
Which Skullcandy Indy would I choose?
For me, this is an easy choice: it’s Skullcandy Indy all the way. For the price, these are an excellent set of earbuds with great sound quality and easy pairing. There’s no pairing problems, and no finicky fiddling with things like Ambient Mode. Наука
You'll find the Evo/Fuel sounds MUCH better when you put the movie mode.
Which ones are better ps I don't care a piece for the price

I just got the Indy evo for 60 bucks directly from their page and I did not struggle at all to pair with my phone sound quality is very decent no regrets on my purchase

Is it really loud?
Like some noise cancelling
Canadians…
Thanx for the great review. Informative and concise. Helped me decide.
I have been using this earbuds (Indy evo)for 1 month
Didn't face any problem but yesterday the right ear bud sensor suddenly stopped working
I just put them back into the care and reconnected and it worked perfectly fine for first few minutes and then again it stopped
So I made an reset but the same issues was continued
Please help me out with this issue
This was super helpful thank u I have the original but I lost one of them but I was thinking of getting new ones like the ones that has the features but I might go back to the originals
Great review
Awesome video on this black friday
Do the different versions have cross compatibility regarding the silicon loop? I mean, if I have the simple indy version, can I fit the other versions fit fins? Anyways, would it worth? Mine frops this part very frequently :(
Love my Skullcandy Dimes, these look promising as well🔥
Thank you so much for the video Erin! This really helped me to buy the right earphone. 😊
Which ones did you get ?
@@xPRINCEOFDEATH we won't utter a word
Great video .. 👍🏻 keep going 👏🏻
The Indy evos are easily the best wireless earbud that skullcandy has. I love them so much!
That's great!
I love your demo on these earbuds
Thank you very much!
@@ErinLawrenceTV Hlo dear
Sony xb 700 vs SKULLCANDY indy evo which is better in sound quality?
I appreciate this review !!! Now I know what's fit my taste
That's great, thank you!
great comparison! thanks im gonna get indy!
indy evo : )
Have the Fuel, paring is an issue with me as well as others. The problem is syncing both right and left buds together before pairing such that you get paired with either right or left but not both. Keep on trying you will get it both working but frustrating.
thank you so much
you helped me make a proper choice :")
Thanks for the compliment ☺️
I got some evos for $40 they sound great and only thing is that my ears are weird and I don't know how to wear them but that's just me. I like them and the connectivity. The connectivity is no problem for me, in elaborating of that it shows up as two devices but connect at the same time even though the other Evo on the Bluetooth menu claims to not be connected it is, and the first earbud will be the one to announce it but when you play the music is will play in both buds. The range and quality are amazing I play tennis and my phone is at the end of the court and the sound is great but I found with some headphones it is just as static as evos. So when there was trouble so it is not the earbuds connectivity it is my main hub(the phone) so just make sure the music player has a good cast for Bluetooth. I bought these because idk I just didn't care about wireless charging from the fuels and got a "better" set than the $50 ones. I found them at a good price on Amazon no specifics except for that so I wish you luck and fair biddings
What wireless headphones do you recommend that have a microphone that actually works?
The Skull candy venues are very good in my opinion, giving you great sound and decent bass with the awesome noise cancelling feature. They mic is pretty good for wireless headphones and do a decent job. The battery is very good, with a 24 hour battery life and rapid charge, giving you 6 hours of battery with only 10 minutes of charge :) however it depends on your price point as they cost around £140 depending on where you look. I have nothing bad to say about so should be a good choice 👍🏼
Yesterday i bought indy fuel from costco.sound quality is very good.
What is the best Skullcandy Indy Evo or JBL tune 230nc
Who else had 0 trouble pairing , still learning the taps but they aren’t as difficult to work out as you said just a struggle to remember
Thanks for the great review. Had a quick question... Can I charge evo earbuds with the fuel charging case?
Good question. I’ve never tried.
Thank you, I wish I would have watched this before I bought a and Indy Fuel, it wold have saved me 6 hours of frustration. I tried the Indy but had similar issues with Paring, controls and bugs. Battery is only good for about an hour of play as well.
Must be defective.
Yo those are defective. Took me 30 seconds to pair them (indy Fuel) and battery lasts forever you got yourself a lemon,
Mam I bought evo yesterday and have no problem with the pairing, it just paired at once when I took out both buds.
I bought them today and its pretty good.
I'm on my third pair of INDY EarBuds in as many days. All were stone dead out of the box, and I've had charging and battery life issues with all three. Often one earbud will not charge, and I get between 50min to 1:50 min operation per charge, and about two charges per case charge. The third set power's off when it says it has 30% remaining so I suspect the earbud batteries may be damaged from setting for months in a completely discharged state.
I've also had connection issues and it's hard to control the volume and playback using the touch controls on two Android devices, a windows laptop and an Ipad. Mic audio quality is poor and muffled, microphone levels are over-driven, and I suspect it may not be using A2DP for mic audio, but low bit rate codec.
I've also noticed audio quality differences between devices, and even quality change dramatically from one connection to another on the same device, and I suspect has to do with the codec changing between devices.
Ok don't need to spam the same comment on every indy video this is the second time I've seen you
My indy have great sound great bass but I just bought the evos and they sound like absolute fcking garbage the bass is also way less soi d quality is so bad? Is this in issue cuz it should not be possible an upgraded version with 10 dollar sound?
very good ... congratulations on the video
Can you do sesh Evo as well?
Please tell which TWS is best under 100 $
Do you still sale the Indy evo?
Good review.
Nice review lady!
Hello! Existing a difference at skullcandy Evo and Fuel?
Only wireless charging the rest is the same
Same except Fuel has wireless charging.
Fuel has wireless charging, evo doesn’t
How does the sound compare between the Indy and the Indy fuel ?
Everything is same except for wireless charging which comes with indy fuel
I just bought a pair of Indy today and you are completely wrong about their bass. I've listend songs like Paradise - Meduza, Kygo - Hot Stuff and i gotta tell you that on MAX VOLUME the bass distorted the overall sound to the point that i was forced to lower down the volume .You can give a little search on the internet and you will see that a lot of people are having the same issue. Its just a matter of songs untill you realise what i am talking about. I am gonna repeat myself, only if you listen to them at full volume. I've send the headphones back and gonna try the Indy Evos. Hope they dont dissapoint me as these did.
The noise cancelling is subtle but improves sound quality by lowering the noise floor. The double tap and hold is confusing instructions, you hold on the second to change modes, triple tap hold does the eq. Thing is still a botched product with high failure rate.
They are good to workout with they don't Fallout your ears That was one of my biggest problems with earbuds Especially when you want to jump rope. Sound quality Was a 7 out of 10 wishes is OK. So if you somebody who's looking for something to stay in your ears this will be a good option
Great feedback. Thanks for posting Adrian.
Are they both the same size?
Pretty much. Yes
I'm getting that fuel
❤️
You should document battery life of the earbuds themselves individually.
I got the indys and indy evos, I can guarantee the quality from each set of earbuds varies. My indys sound leagues above the evos, to the point where I'm returning my evos tomorrow. I'm extremely disappointed with skullcandy here, especially considering that the evos were supposed to be a successor. I am not impressed by any means. Whatever you do, get the indys.
Thanks so much for sharing with us feedback. I think others will find it helpful
@@ErinLawrenceTV oh, I returned them and I got a new pair, still fairly disappointed. The bass is worse by a lot compared to the indys, they have a weird static which I can notice, but after that, the actual highs and mids are really crisp. The bass is still fairly good to be honest.
Ikr do you also feel like the evo sound quality is worse like wtf? Should be better sound quality is soooo bad on the evo sounds like 10 dollaar earbuds. Is this an issue or are they rly this bad?
After this crap, I chose to return them again. They don't sound good. Indys are ten times better. The right indy evo bud literally stopped working. I'm done with skullcandy lol
Still have my indy, glad i didn't "upgrade"
Can you do a giveaway
I love my indy but I lost one bud so it's time for me to move on😢
:(

Thanks ma'am for this video.. Now i have cleared my mind which 1 i have to buy..
😊👌
I getthe Fuel earbutts..
Sometimes the simpler ones are the best.
hello from brazil...
😃😃😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💋💋💋
Do not be afraid in front of the camera,♥️♥️♥️ make video (add some fun )
It's easy to copy the AirPod design, but hard to replicate the Apple 'magic'. Mostly because of the propriety hardware Apple uses. The pairing challenges you had is more than enough to not recommend these! Good review as always!
So should I get airpods instead?
Do not buy these. I've switched two pairs from warranty within four months. Also tons of connection issues. These are complete garbage and I hate them. As a kid who worked hard for these I'm furious with the amount of time I need to put in for them to connect properly let alone work.
So sorry to hear that Tom.
Great Video! MAGA from New Zealand!
The Indy Evo is garbage. you are smiling because you probably got to do a review on a device comped to you from the manufacturer. In reality it does nothing you say it does. the mic is useless. you bought a pair if earpieces and only one will work at a time. They will not pair to themselves, forget trying to do so. A waste of 80 bux
