- Rating the capital cities I’ve visited in Europe so far
These are OPINIONS based on my experiences traveling in each city
This perspective is not one of living and working in these places
So here we go:
Paris 🇫🇷 - 7/10
I experienced such a range of emotions visiting Paris. Sometimes it was 1000/10 because of how amazing the city is, but other times it was overwhelming and/or dirty.
Brussels 🇧🇪 - 5/10
To me Brussels was honestly average. I didn’t dislike it but nothing stood out as amazing either.
Vienna 🇦🇹 - 8.5/10
Really peaceful and such a high quality of life! But I thought it was expensive for accommodation and eating/drinking out.
Prague 🇨🇿 - 9.5/10
It’s beautiful, affordable, has great transportation, and so much to do. It does get super crowded in December and summer though.
Bratislava 🇸🇰 - 8/10
I really enjoyed it and think it’s underrated/overshadowed by Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. It’s a chill city but it’s not very big so I wouldn’t spend as much time here as others.
Zagreb 🇭🇷 - 7.5/10
Overall the city is fun and nice for a few days and I love the Croatian people! So my opinion of Zagreb shouldn’t reflect my views on all of Croatia. It’s just that my favorite part of Croatia is the seaside towns and Zagreb isn’t on the sea.
Nicosia 🇨🇾 - 6/10
This is a really fascinating city because it’s divided into two sides (Greek and Turkish). Cool in its own right but I don’t feel it can compare to other capitals in Europe.
Ljubljana🇸🇮 - 9/10
Great and vibrant city. But it’s small so after a few days I felt more like going into nature in Slovenia which my favorite thing about the country 😁
Budapest 🇭🇺 - 9.5/10
Honestly loved Budapest! Such a great place to visit and experience. Just not a 10/10 for me because the food scene wasn’t as good as other countries in my opinion.

@@JakeBraymiller Try Olomouc, you can reach by train from Prague, it should have direct connection to Vienna and Krakow. Just 2 hours ride from Prague, so you can save on hotel.
Rating Brussels 5 is not knowing Brussels, just for the beauty of Grand Place at night it’s worth much more than 5, all the beautiful chocolate shops, the fries, beers, waffles, beautiful buildings and house’s architecture etc… And the city is full of different events throughout the year.

Well the weather is bad almost all the time there. Plus it's quite dirty and has many unsafe areas. There are some nice places, sure, but it cannot really compare to cities like Prague or Budapest in that regard. There are cities in Belgium that are far more beautiful than Brussels.
@@Hiddencheese2886 Depends on everyone’s taste. I have a friend who overall preferred Brussels than Prague and Budapest. Mostly after seeing Atomium and Grand Place at night and bc of the details of the building in general.
@@lemondechico3194Brussels is quite boring compared to other capitals. It doesnt have much advantage over some others like Rome is special, Prague is special, Barcelona is special, Warsaw is extremely lively. And the crime rate is also not very ideal. Its one of worst in western europe in fact.

Interesting score for Vienna. I was just there and would give it a 10/10. Beautiful buildings, great public transportation, lots of green space, fabulous cultural offerings, excellent food. And the people were a lot friendly than I had experienced them years ago.
I’d agree with everything you said! It’s a great city. For me the biggest problem was that I felt Vienna was very expensive for accommodations and going out to restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. Significantly more affordable in Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest.
I've just got back visiting Prague/Vienna/Naples/Rome/Dubrovnik and I'd say they are 9/7
5/6.5/9/8.5 respectively. I totally agree with your Vienna point, it was very expensive compared to Prague plus Prague had a greater variety of beautiful buildings. I have to visit Eastern Europe further with your recommendations, big thanks!

Zagreb above Paris?? You're trippin bro. Even though I love Croatia, and Zagreb people were amazing when I went there last year, I must admit that the city was nothing special, even more when you compare it with other cities in the country.

I visited and spent time in London, Barcelona, Pamplona, Zagreb, Budapest, Wien, Bratislava, München, Würzburg, Lübeck, Hamburg, Genève, Lausanne, Brussels, Antwerp, Gent, Brugge, Charleroi, Rotterdam, Terneuzen, Milano, Torino, Venezia, Firenze, Bologna, Modena, Ferrara, Ravenna, Roma, Perugia, Terni and lot of french cities because it's my country.
Ljubljana has something special but most of those cities were cool in my opinion especially Würzburg and Bologna who complete my top 3

Warsaw has extremely boring flat landscape. Also to travel there is pain in the ass, its so remote from any other EU cities except maybe Berlin and Vilnius. Also the nightlife is kinda average compared to Prague, Budapest, Amsterdam or Berlin.

How is Zagreb 7.5/10?! It literally has original Croats and not like Vienna, where only 40% are Austrians, so you barely get to try the local food. And the people are nice. Just explain how is it 7.5? Oh I saw the desc, but you shouldnt lower the rating because it isnt the best part, focus on what Zagreb has and not what it doesnt. Also you are the one of many people who see Croatias beauty only at coast
It's not only about how many people are local. 7.5 is still nice, but Zagreb just doesn't have as much to offer as some of the other cities. People are nice, yes, but the public transport is bad, traffic is bad, and a lot of ugly brutalist buildings all over the place.
