The pull out drawer is a real stroke of genius. May I suggest a docking station with a 7 inch monitor and a wireless mouse and keyboard. That way you won't cover up the front of your box and it gives you more options.
nice man!! thanks for sharing. i love the laptop in the drawer. i put one on my 2u drawer. have not done a v3 video update. its never done. always tweaking the box. love the gator pro cases. i had 2 different 6U boxes. sold one and moved that stuff to 2 smaller 2u boxes. and then sold the empty extra 6u box i had. love it. peace from colorado and yell at me if you hear me on HF!
+HogAlleyHogs Not genius per se, but I was certainly pleased with myself when I found it. You work with what is cheap and works well! The trick is to use zip ties through the screw holes to hold it open and then use the metric bolt into the mounting bracket to hold it on. Best of luck!

+SurvivalTech Nord I felt the power requirements were a bit much for an internal battery, and the majority of the remote work I had been doing was through my club's portable power system, which really only required an Anderson Powerpole socket to their 14VDC system running on solar power. If I were to run this myself, I would use a 14V 40A DC solar power system I have. I would use Sealed AGM US Batteries and a 200watt solar system. Car batteries are also good ina pinch, and I have made an appropriate spade to Anderson adapter for the power socket. Thanks for writing!

+C Wood There really aren't many great laptop drawers out there, and in fact, in Revision 2 of this system, I have removed the laptop drawer and laptop to a carrying bag, since it is the single largest weight item. Even so, I used the Penn Elcom EX-6301B in this box, and it works well enough. I got mine for $65.60 as a scratch/dent item, but it's hard to find that cheap these days. Thanks for the info. I'm currently using a 2u drawer, but the weight is definitely a huge issue.
