A tip for the microphone, it doesn't have to be right up on your collar. You could get something like a lanyard and wear it on it, and even slip it into your shirt to hide it.
I've seen people clip it to the bill of their cap as well. :)
Jacob, I'm convinced that the longer you have been watching The Carpetbagger, the more fun it gets. The more times you return to places you've taken us before, the more we get to say "Oh yeah, I remember when that happened!" or a place you went or a change to the place! Its like little easter eggs randomly appearing in your videos and are always such a treat!
As for the mic, actually, I thought it did an exceptional job! Sometimes we get a lot of wind or you're JUST a little too far away from the mic and it gets tougher, but that didn't even REMOTELY happen with the mic!

I was so heartbroken when they tore down World of Illusions. Every time I would visit and see that I instantly took me back to my childhood going there with my dad. Last time I was there I talked to a local worker and he talked about how alcohol is totally taking over. So many “moonshine” businesses opening up because it’s big money. It’s moving away from being the family friendly place it used to be . Hopefully maybe the trend will change. Thanks for your coverage Jacob!!

I really enjoyed the theming of the car museum vs a car museum that is set up in a warehouse setting.
I spent a night in the Rocky Top Suite at the Gatlinburg Inn. Really cool big room, they've kept it pretty much the same. A true pilgrimage for any east Tennessean.

Fun fact...if you stand at 5 guys and look up at the space needle....you can log onto the space needle site and view the camera and see yourself lol. Yeah, we were bored....

My dad lived in that area years and years and years ago. He has been passed away for 10 years.

I love the new camera. Took me a few videos to get used to it because the whole "feel" was so different from your previous videos. But now that I'm used to it, I love it. As far as the mike sounding muffled, I've read that updating the transmitter firmware has improved it a little bit for some people. DJI, I think, is aware and is probably working on a fix as we speak.

I worked at Star Cars around 2002 2003. How I got the job was crazy and I have some cool stories about working there. Love seeing it expanding.

The sound is different but completely acceptable. Perhaps the tone difference is due to the position of the mic 🤷🏽♂️. But I continue to enjoy the video quality from the new camera!

I'm so excited for your upcoming road trip! I love pretty much all your videos, but your road trip videos are my favorite. Makes me miss having a car and being able to just go wherever the road takes me. And I agree with the others that the new mic sounds "weird." Maybe, like others have suggested, if you clip it to your hat or somewhere lower on your shirt, it would help? 🤷♀ Might be worth a try before ditching it entirely.
The episode was great! I really enjoy your channel, even the oldies! So personally I find the new mic a little stuffy, like in a closet kinda vibe. If you decide to go with the mic, a suggestion would be maybe attaching a magnet to it so you can apply it lower on your shirt. I would hate to have to adjust to something rubbing on my neck, personally. Either way you decide, I'm here for it! You rock!

We loved our week in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg April 21-28th - wish we could've met up with you! We loved Earthquake and rode it 3 times!!!!
From here on out, anytime we see footage of the road and Jacob's hat while he's driving, I'll always imagine him driving that simulator.
Additionally, I hung out with the speedworks people back in the day and it’s not surprising that Matt has his space in gburg now. My wife and I went through mysterious mansion a couple weeks ago and I was so freaking good. I truly love this town.

Could it be because he's using the attached mike?
I think he needs to adjust the settings on his external mic. His picture is A+ sound is a bit muffled or flat.

For many years my family would visit Gatlinburg and we'd walk by the aquarium but the road behind the mall always seemed baren so we avoided it. Now after all these years I find out there's a cool mansion back there?!? Now I want to take that path before I move out!

The last time I was there a couple of years ago, I was a little disappointed at how ritzy things were getting. It's becoming very Disneyland where I missed it being this weird, quirky, backwoods tourist spot. Its lost a lot of its charm but the views are still nice at least.

Although I love the growth of Gatlinburg, it’s sad to see a lot of the charm that that the town once had, be torn down and replaced by modern looking distilleries.

I was at Star Cars a few years ago, and I accidentally bumped into the time machine from Back to the Future. The side mirror wasn't attached very well and it fell in the floor, so I picked it up and put it back on. To be honest, I considered taking it with me, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I had lol
Did Star Cars w hubby and now 20 yr old son about 4 years ago...they enjoyed it...
I enjoyed the TITANTIC museum in Pigeon Forge better and Alcatraz East better because I am only like Ford Mustangs so dont really have a ton of interest in others...lol..

Sounds great with the blue tooth mike. If you want, you can get a smaller lavalier mike and clip that to your collar and feed the wire through your shirt, plug it into the blue tooth mike, clip it on a belt, or pants, and it won't be so conspicuous that you have a mike on. The videos are great. It's like I am along with a friend even if we have never met!

Anything you ever want to know about any of those cars, don't hesitate to ask! That McLaren Senna goes for around 3.5mil with the full carbon body. The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-engine v-12. Cars are kinda my thing lol.
I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t like the new microphone. It sounds muffled in a way that’s honestly a strain to hear. Then again that might just be my own personal sensory issues.

In 2026 For My 30th Birthday I'm Going To A RESORT Called DISNEY AULANI HOTEL I've Never Been There Before But I'll Go There To Meet Characters Like DUFFY AND SHELLIEMAY And Other Characters As Well If You Haven't Been There Before I Recommend If You Could Go There At Some Point Anytime
I'm 52 and was at Disneyland in March. I got to meet Pete and Claribelle. I was so excited!!! It's funny how awesome meeting the characters is for some of us. I hope you have a great time.
