The old fulla picking up the rubbish at the end 😔
Yeah, this generation is fucked
Homeless looking for cans
@@neff6477 not true. He's part of a group of elderly volunteers that clean the streets up the day after big nights like this
Nah that’s the can man, he makes about $1/kg and he needs a raise
The cameraman trying to get a good shot 😂
that last shot is sad but a great way to end it . These kids will be ditching the fuckin mess they made and heading back to a nice job at their dads law firm in a few years. Old mate will still be picking up trash.
So true. Selfish losers is what they are.
That's kinda f*king heart breaking
It is man
Boofuckinghoo
as an introvert and this being my absolute worst nightmare this was very interesting to watch!!
As an introvert, being in this environment is what helped transform me from a nervous hermit to a somewhat semi-social person.
It's an absolute baptism by fire if you're not prepared, lmao
@@tonglongkiwi You mean an alcoholic?
@@tonglongkiwi I'm an introvert but I can still hold conversations with people, maybe I need to go here to fully get out of my shell lol
Your only an intovert because its the new trend nowdays just say you hate people lol its all goods not everyone is a people person hahahaits not actually a mental health thing being called and introvert lol i hate people and the party life aswell but i dont label myself a introvert i've had my days of all nighters and drinking till the sun rises again ya just need to get out there and socialise social media and covid has fucked alot of peoples ability to socialise
As a Brit who’s never heard of the New Zealand party scene, you lads are fucking gems for bringing this shit to my attention
Brings back memories of my time at Otago University. I wasn’t involved in the party scene or flatting but they attracted lots of unwanted media attention and commentary. For many undergraduates, this is the first time they can live without parental oversight. The idea is that they can all have fun and rebel for a period of their lives. Sometimes it can come back to bite people as Sam Uffindel the National MP learnt the hard way.
Big swing and a miss for that joke. Cringe.
Yeah he's a wanker
@@SporkandMore imagine supporting a right wing party. Cringe
@@djdivile National, right wing? Now there's a joke!
@@djdivile national is left wing numpty
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the definition of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"
Absolutely!
Dunedin looks sick but they should all come together and do a clean up once a week or something.
This won't work because there's a thing called tomorrow
They regularly do.
NOT gonna happen🤣🤣
Oh look, it's the consequences of closing all the student bars! Thanks Harlene Hayne!
Dunners has always had a party problem, but it has gotten much worse in the last decade.
Bring back the Proctors Stocks!
How many bars did they close?
nah this has been like this for years
all started going down hill after they closed starters on clyde street
Bars wouldn't do shit, Hamilton has an entire generation of pill addicts no older than 18.. NZ has a culture that promotes being a fxckwit, having designated places for fuckwitism won't change the peer pressure and binge drinking culture that exists and is almost seen as a right of passage in this country.
@@rokinco8598 bro what lmao
Way before that
I ended up leaving Otago because this kind of student culture wasn't for me. Enjoying university life much more now that I changed university.
What uni you going to now and would you recommend it?
You sound boring asf
You just have to avoid castle street and thats about it.
You can enjoy OU without getting involved in this.
@@sarge_4412 I really enjoyed Victoria in Wellington. Depends what you want to study though. There's definitely drinking culture there but you can entirely avoid it
Love the contrast of the serious reporter. Bright future ahead for this fella.
"If you dance to the bass enough you forget about your childhood trauma for a little bit"
Damn bro, you came with the raw shit
These videos are awesome, it's cool to see you guys getting out and documenting this stuff. Reminds me of Channel 5 at its peak, and the presenter's deadpan delivery lets all the interesting people he interviews shine a lot. Super cool.
Channel 5 at its peak? Channel 5 is very recent and definitely still in it's prime at the moment.
@@YungSheogorath Well back when it was All Gas No Brakes is what I meant, my bad. The tone seems to have shifted between the two.
@@Lvl3NPC oh right I getcha bro, yeah nah I agree All Gas No Brakes aside from a couple videos definitely leaned heavily into a more comedy format like these guys are, rather than the half serious half comedic tone Channel 5 leans into more now. Plus they have a bigger budget with Channel 5 now it seems. Andrew's content though is at its prime at the moment though I reckon with the current Channel 5 stuff, real good.
Fuck off, it's bullshit
hope y'all are getting a new mic cover
Haha yuck
It looks like ibiza for homeless people.
So they party like idiots, but also don't clean up after themselves? Damn. I get that you're only young once but if you can go flatting like an adult, you can clean up your own mess like adults
Yeah i agree. The partying and behaviour was fine imo given their age but leaving the old man to clean up their shit, not cool.
@@francestyler5146 he doesn’t clean it up lmao he picks up empty cans to trade in for money, the people who hosted the night before normally clean it
@@lillyhatipov1077 I mean even if hes trading it it still counts as cleaning. And yeah my bad didnt know that, the vid just makes it appear as if they trash the street and just leave it like that.
@@lillyhatipov1077 castle street ain’t never clean, they’re all bunch of diseased rats
@@lillyhatipov1077 now they don’t ya pasty fuck lmao
3:37 "we left Martin there, he takes care of us bro" had me fucking dying. these guys sound like mad lads
aye shit had me tearing crying
absolutely love the vibe but reality living conditions r a bit disturbing lol
Not to them they don't care
@@Trajan2401 we do care, it's fking freezing down here
@@neoguriiin hahahaha mate just hop on the piss. It'll help warm ya up ay
There's plenty of flats that aren't this rank, if you choose to live on castle you know what you're getting into lol
@@nootnoot2979 yeah, these would defintely be the extreme rather than the norm
6:48 if that guy can calculate 18*2 after 36 drinks he must be a genius when he's sober
He hasn't been sober since last Christmas
Nah as a cody man we alcoholics all know that two 18s equals 36 off heart

I lived in Dunedin 2 years ago. For 3 years. In Waverley. What I can say is I never saw the students unless I went to the CBD. Like, ever. Where I lived was truly beautiful. Half that city is.
interview the old chap at the end, he looked like the most interesting person on the vid
This was absolutely gold! was so surprised when I saw you guys had barely over two thousand subs, felt like i was watching something along the lines of guy williams lmao, keep up the good shit blokes.
Keep 'em coming legends. Thanks a lot for the excellent fillums.
I stayed the night at a mates house on the weekend very near here, and bro it was literally impossible to sleep. There were 5 people who got up on the roof of the house next to us and blared music for a couple of hours until the cops told them they couldn’t stay there bc it wasn’t their house 😭
A lot of my family and friends went to university in Christchurch and Dunedin, got degrees they don't use or outright failed, got into debt they're still paying off, I knew I wouldn't be good at uni as I'd drink like these kids and not apply myself to any of the lessons, so I Joined the military, still did a lot of drinking but I got paid and went all over the place.
I'm not saying that higher education is pointless, far from it, I think it's important to know yourself and have a clear image of what you want to do with your future, so young people please just have a think about what you want to do, and if you don't need to put yourself in massive debt, don't. Be a trailblazer and don't do things just because everyone else has told you this is what you have to do. If that makes sense
I get your point, but since when was joining the military being a trial blazer? lol
@@msgesus4518 do your own thing is what I mean, I wasn't talking about joining the military, hence the full stop
Full sick advice lad
interesting take :) I went to uni and make more than my peers who went into retail/hospo
@@Karenkyliev
Well done. You're the lucky one. Not skilled, not educated. Lucky.
Not much has changed over the generations except they are getting lazier. I'm in my 30s, did the same shit back in my teens in the same place, but we helped at least clean the streets afterwards, the houses, were always a dump but having enough people complain about broken glass puncturing tyres n shit on the weekly you end up just cleaning up after yourself. It's a life lesson.
Spoilt entitled lil 💩 these days
I've never seen so much rubbish on Dunedin Streets. the locals are very tolerant, until they are not
@@TheLazyGeneTV Do all locals end up renting and relocating outside this mess ?
So glad i cam across this channel, some great grass roots reporting you guys are doing. Keep up the good work.
4:21 "this week it's like day nine"
Didn't know there was more than 7 days in a week 😂😂
I love this channel! Thanks for putting out good content :)
I was a bit jealous of the send here until i saw the old man cleaning up. Sad ending ones.
Kiwi here, love to see videos from a New Zealander like this, PLEASE make more bro I'm begging you
Love how they say the most breather shit then just start talking about their studies, love uni students
Didn't realise Luxon was also a policeman
keep up the awesome videos! such good quality and the footage at the end really provided a moment for reflection
Very nice work. Reminds me of All Gas No Brakes or Channel 5 with Andrew Callahan. I love Dunedin!
This gave me a hangover just from watching.
Awesome video again guys - such a hectic/wild part of their life that I never experienced myself. Loved it
Someone finally made this. Awesome production guys
This video is, by far, one of the best videos that I have seen to date...
"The brains of NZ." Future professionals . "Jesus wept".
As an introvert with no friends this is such a culture shock to me 😂😂😂💀
It was never this bad in the late 80’s early 90’s when I was at Otago. We had great pubs to go to: Cook, Gardies, Bowler, Ori, Cactus Jacks, Robbie Burns, etc, places where students could drink as much as they liked but the minute they went mental the bouncers kicked them out. It was great. It was affordable, though, which is a big difference.
Yo thanks for this documentary! I just visited Dunedin while on holiday to check out the area. I didn't realise the houses all had names too. Keep it up
this is my new favorite youtube channel
Lived in Dunedin my whole life and loved every minute of it 🤙🏻
just watched all your videos.. great work across the board and hope you keep it coming! perhaps look at the ufo community next?
Bloody excellent content, keep it up! I died laughing at how you edited the section about "Breathers" haha. Brilliant
Amazing video as always
This sort of report coverage is out of the norm, which is unique and what I prefer...
It's like a mix of Paddy Gower, Gen Z and Kiwi ingenuity. Keep it up
love this content
Love the videos boys, new fan.
dude at 10:50 has a great enthusiasm for a concept fully explained
Solid video lads! Great to see good ole Castle Street is still killin brain cells 10years on from when we were there as students lol!
20 years since my tour of duty started there - same shit, different day.
BACK IN MY DAY- we went to Bath st for the DNB and watched CowTv for the walk of shame. Great vid and some true morsels of wisdom from the streets.
The walk of shame was THE BEST !! And EVERYONE watched it!! 100% agree!!
Walk of shame, that shit was gold! 😂😂😂
I was there from 1987 to 1991 and it seems to have not changed in the slightest. Except there was probably a bit more violence in the old days. These kids seem more friendly and nice.
Party life has always been wicked in dunners but i remember years ago flats used to clean up after themselves so conditions were all goods, and the party life was still there and tbh better than it is nowdays haha
Some of the flats a fuckin vile around castle street
Okkkkkkaaaaaaybooomer
@@9G0D bruh I'm 21 and attend uni, I used to live on north leith street and there were some disgusting drive ways with rubbish bags piled up and often end up torn open leaving shit all on the place.

"alex, jane and this other girl called sophie"

Absolute scenes on Castle Street and another certified BANGER of a vid from the DOI. Great job lads, I bet that was a hectic night 😄
Big Channel 5 News vibes, keep it up bro.

@@aguyfromnewzealand3392 LMAO fr😂 infinite money glitch right there

I think something that needs to be said is that there is absolutely no chance of being able to go out as a student to a venue in NZ. Piss at a bar here is egregious so your only option is to either smash a box before you hit town or to just throw house parties. Why go out when its so expensive when you can just get your mates around
Amazing content
I remember Dunedin had really good rock bands this the 1960s many of the old houses still there
Love these vids you guy's are putting out. The future is looking bright down there for them by the looks of it.
glad this is blowing up for you guy's!
crazy good video, y'all deserve more recognition
Appreciate it!
Love the vids my cuzz. From nelson nz

Excellent, really funny. That last shot was good.
I love The Department of Information
beautiful content boys
thank you kindly
You guys are like kiwi channel 5 lmao this is gold
Student houses and parties seem remarkably similar to what it's like here in the Netherlands on the other side of the world.
Bro the amount of people I recognise from primary school and college here is crazy 😂
this is beautiful...
i live in dunedin. its a living nightmare and i'm 14-
Solid vid, subscribed 👌
As an American this cultural difference is insane.
Damn! Must be hell owning an apartment in that street/neighbourhood.
I work for the uni, literally on this street. Everything from us, to the botanical gardens (3-4 blocks) is either uni owned student accomodation/office space, or privately owned student flats. Well, and a uni owned Daycare, but that's on the block before it gets really rough.
If you don't want to deal with that lifestyle, you just don't live in the student area.
Campus Watch are usually pretty good at looking out for students and staff so I've never felt unsafe in the area.
The GOATs do it again
haha recognise the house with the destroyed wood table as the one Guy Williams visited years back.
I'd like to hear more about these green frogs.
A windscreen wiper (Commonwealth English) or windshield wiper (American English) is a device used to remove rain, snow, ice, washer fluid, water, or debris from a vehicle's front window. Almost all motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses, train locomotives, and watercraft with a cabin-and some aircraft-are equipped with one or more such wipers, which are usually a legal requirement.
A wiper generally consists of a metal arm; one end pivots, and the other end has a long rubber blade attached to it. The arm is powered by a motor, often an electric motor, although pneumatic power is also used for some vehicles. The blade is swung back and forth over the glass, pushing water, other precipitation, or any other impediments to visibility from its surface. The speed is usually adjustable on vehicles made after 1969, with several continuous rates and often one or more intermittent settings. Most personal automobiles use two synchronized radial-type arms, while many commercial vehicles use one or more pantograph arms.
God it's great to see this place hasn't changed - fantastic video team!
Gotta admit growing up in NZ as a teenager was Fucking EPIC. Rageing! Total freedom, pillaging and mass destruction. ........ .now, ....or even after you're 20 years old...not so much.
I missed out on that cause I shut myself away till I was 18 😅
@@JoshuaBakerSheridan I remember by the time I was 19 I was almost jaded and burnt out and didn't want to go to the pub anymore.......the legal age to be in the pub back then was 20.

They should come up with a recycling rule where they collect all the cans to give back to the community..
Absolute breathers
ay good stuff boys
that fucking mic is a super spreader event
I'm a little upset you didn't interview the old guy at the end! Would have been gold
when he said his sister had a baby I thought he was going to say he's a dad
I bet they all have serious mental health issues when they are alone 🤔
It's almost as if it's expected! I wonder what is really going through the foreign student minds about our colourful culture. Hopefully our dear friends in China get to see this eh. Very interesting and informative. Much appreciated for sharing this poignant inside reveal of our students plight. Must be difficult not knowing what the future holds in these uncertain times however I struggle with the mess created by our young then they happily watch elderly people clean up after them?
