Why is the US-Canada relationship so strategically important? According to the former Governor of the Bank of Canada, Mark Carney (also on the shortlist as a possible future Canadian Prime Minister), it all comes down to common values. Carney sits down with Ian Bremmer of GZERO World for a frank discussion about the future of US-Canada relations and why the relationship with our neighbor to the north is so crucial amid so much geopolitical uncertainty around the world.
“We're providing things to the United States that, from a strategic perspective, the US absolutely needs,” Carney stresses, “It needs clean energy; it needs critical metals and minerals from a reliable supplier; it needs a reliable partner in the backbone of artificial intelligence; and it needs capital, all things that Canada can bring.”
Bremmer pushes Carney on his political aspirations in Canada and whether he’d be interested in possibly becoming Prime Minister in the future. While Carney doesn’t answer directly, he does say that there are urgent domestic issues in Canada that need to be addressed, like the need to build millions of new homes and lower the cost of housing, address the threat of climate change, and retrain Canadian workers to be competitive in the age of artificial intelligence. Technological changes and investments in infrastructure will bring huge opportunities to Canada, Carney explains, adding, “We have a choice on that, and our governments need to align with it.”

A Liberal tabloid message readying Carney for takeover? The people are speaking out against Woke DEI, advertisers have been cutting back , Carney must denounce and support traditional values or else the Liberal party will be relegated to non-party status. Signed Conservative

Canada is a three-star hotel charging five-star prices. It desperately needs to figure out its housing situation. 6 million homes is a MASSIVE number and effectively the population of greater Dallas-Fort Worth. I don't see how that is actually executed when in the largest metropolitan areas, NIMBYism and local permitting costs make it too hard to actually build anything.

in Vancouver 30% of the cost of new development is fees and taxes.... The government suggesting they are concerned about housing is two-faced because it is a cash cow.
Carney is the Devil... he is deeply a WEF globalist and part of the "you'll own nothing and be happy ....and eat bugs" club.

I would strongly agree except I think the ongoing damage to the Liberals has become so severe that I think they would still be decimated even led by Carney. I fear Trudeau has left it too late to take his walk in the snow. I would not want to waste a potentially smart, good communicator like Carney in such an imminent disaster. I would suggest he should be parachuted into the Liberal leadership afterwards and lead the rebuilding of the party by taking back all those centre of the road voters that Trudeau alienated and who held their nose to vote Conservative because they felt nowhere else to go.
Also bear in mind Carney is the former governor of the Banks Canada and Bank of England, not a seasoned politician. He's never represented a riding. He has a lot to learn.
