Interesting fact for you. The name ‘bone folder’ originated in Victoria Britain when people making books used a tool like that, made of bone, for folding pages. Thought you’d enjoy this fun fact
You never fail to make me laugh out loud! “as long as I don’t need an engineering degree…” So true! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I haven’t made an accordion fold yet, so I guess I’ll give that a try.
An alternative on the pop-up card is to cut strips of cardstock, or even acetate, for your pop-ups, rather than cutting slits into a panel. Probably the easiest way is to make the length of your strip 5 times the size of your pop-up. For instance, for a 1" tall pop-up, you want a 5" long strip (1" x 5 = 5"). 1/2" tall pop-up - make a 2-1/2" long strip. Score the strip at the measurements of the final pop-up size. For the 1" pop-up, score every 1". Then fold on the score lines & glue the overlapping sections together to form a square (or a cube with 2 missing sides). There's your pop-up mechanism. Just glue 2 (adjacent) sides into the crease of the card if you want them along the inside fold. Or, you can glue 1 side of the pop-up down anywhere in your card, to make it "floating." You can also make rectangle cubes by altering the lengths between the score lines. Very versatile. And as I said, it will work with acetate, as well, if you want to "camouflage" your pop-ups more. For that, I would recommend a lighter-weight acetate & score very well, since acetate by its nature doesn't want to stay flat when you fold it. Not sure I would do that personally, but it is an option. Anyway, I know that's a long explanation, and it can involve a hint of math to figure out the strip length, but at least not an engineering degree! LOL I think it actually takes longer to put it into words than to do it, or even show/demonstrate it. At least for me. :) Anyway, thank you for sharing these. Take care, & have a wonderful day! :)
Very nice. I thought an easel card was something else (also no dies needed): when you add an extra panel and make it stand up. But yours is nice too and even easier.
First, I want to say…You ALWAYS make me smile, always, and even laugh out loud at times. 😊 You are a great inspiration, and I love your simple approach to card making…love all the cards! Family members are a huge bonus. ❤
What a brilliant video, I've been having a block and this has motivated me to get going again, so thank you so much. Love your videos always fun and funny. You're a gem. Thanks Laurel and have a beautiful day xxx
I totally agree with you, you don’t need all those dies for pop-ups or special folds. Scissors and sometimes ruler and knife! Great examples, I had fun watching! Thanks for sharing👍
FANTASTIC tips!!! I like to make an open ended box shape with a bit of a lip extending up. Then glue on stuff from the "magic Mug". Makes an impressive card, but making them small enough to slide into the box part a snack size candy bar makes an easy way to give treats to any manner of groups. My doctor's office....my Bible study group....the mail carrier.....and, of course, the grandchildren! :)
Thank you for sharing these ideas. I don't have a lot of the fancy tools and machines that some creators use. Their cards are always beautiful but not something I can duplicate easily. Folds I can do! (Your son did a great job acting annoying🤭)
WoW! This YT tute is a keeper!. Faves & Techniques Eazy, Peezy playlist...so I'm sure to find it when I need it. Thank you Laurel. By the way, you are perfect for ads.
Loved your ideas and finished cards! I believe you easel card was not quite correct - an easel card usually has multiple folds on the top and a stopper on the bottom so the card is propped up when you tuck the top behind the stopper....
Love the simplicity of the crafting. Sometimes we get so bogged down in all the fancy tools that we just don't even start. Or at least that's what happens to me sometimes...
I absolutely loved the easiest, which was the first one for me. I have stencils and blending powders I've been dying to try. Thank you for sharing these. They were ALL great ❤
I Love the simplicity of theses card designs. It definitely makes me want to actually make cards instead of brain storming and starring at paper and "Saying what do I want to do with you"! lol Thank you Laurel
Just saw the accordion for the first time the other day on Maymay made it, and wondered how she made it,super great card, love the pop up one too. Thanks Laurel.

Oh yes how neat!
Love the fact that you don’t have to buy a bunch of mainstream products to make your cards, thanks for the inspiration and just love all your videos.
Thanks so much!
I love it when fun fold cards don't need dies. I don't have a machine or die. 👏🏻🥳
I love how you encourage those of us who can't afford a lot of crafting supplies. You show us how to use what we have. Thanks for the great tutorial.
