Also, we don't need more bass from the ARC ( subwoofers can do the job) but a wider soundstage and a more precise center channel would be a welcomed upgrade... also improve mid range frequency for music listening..... making daisy chain use of multiple Era 100 or 300 would be nice... they should listen to their customers for inputs.

I’ve had an email from Sonos todays, saying there sorry for the new app failings and will be updating the app though out the summer months onwards to October 2024.
I had promised myself never to buy Sonos products again, as I have spent thousands on my system for it to crash or not link up easily with updates its frustrating/ time consuming. I for one will not update the app until all updates are stable (if possible) as I’ve just got it all working again.
Sonos also keep sending upgrade discounts on new products of 15%, (not unsubscribed?) Sonos need to concentrate getting owners previous equipment running smoothly before thinking of new products to give owners like myself confidence to even consider Sonos again.
Never give Sonos good reviews guys, perhaps they will get the message in the end.
We were there bread and butter, now being treated as S-T to buy more newer products to help them survive there mistakes think again Sonos.?

While I think it would be cool if sonos implemented that heart tech into all the speakers in the soundbar I bet they will implement it into 1 or 2 for the bass of the soundbar. If they implement it into all of the speakers I would think the amplification/power supply required would be too much to fit in the soundbar. That makes me wonder why more soundbar manufacturers don't have an external power supply. I would mind if it was external if it meant better sound for the speakers.

My Son works for one of our top HiFi shops in my country (JBHiFi in New Zealand) and he went to an internal expo (not for the general public) with all the other sales teams, and while there he went in the draw to win the Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set and won the full set for free (Sonos Arc soundbar, Two x Era 300 speakers, Sonos Gen 3 Subwoofer). As we speak, they are shipping it to him so he should have everything by the end of next week. Looking forward to hearing it. It makes sense why they have done this after watching this with the Gen 2 Arc soundbar about to be released soon, but still to get this whole set for free is a win win since my son up until now has only used his TV audio for gaming. This will be a huge upgrade to his bedroom sound and if he decides to upgrade to the Arc gen 2 sound bar in the future, he now gets 45% off the retail price for Sono's products anyway being a JBHiFi staff member and since he has done the Sonos training modules.

I agree, they won't get another dime from me either and I just feel cheated. I have 2 Sub Gen 3s, 2 ERA 300s, 2 SL1s, 2 Moves, and the Arc. The hardware is beautiful and powerful, but the software which ultimately drives everything is downright DISGUSTING! You are free to go right on ahead and pick up all of the Sonos hardware, if you want, but the software the system relies on is garbage. It's trash and it's not just because the UI and the UX are trash, but that the system requires that software in order to even produce sound. And the software is so buggy that you will spend hours trying to reconnect the speaker just because you changed your Wi-Fi password or Wi-Fi set up. Then when you get it changed and you think you have it connected then all of a sudden everything will disconnect and then you'll have to reset your Wi-Fi and you'll have to reset your app and you'll have to update your app and then you'll have to reset your phone and then you have to reset your phone again and then you'll have to reset your Wi-Fi again and then you'll have to factory reset all of your equipment (which requires you to go to each product and hold a button while plugging the product back in) and all of a sudden you decide I'm sick and tired of fooling with this and the next day you wake up and it works like you never ever spent the whole previous day trying to get it to work. But, trust me, you didn't really get it to work because it will absolutely crash again. Sonos software literally has me checking the Sonos app every DAMN DAY to see if everything is working properly. You don't spend thousands of dollars on a theater system, like I did, and not use it every single day! And every single day you're wondering what's going to be the New Sonos issue today!
You want to sit down on an evening after you finished work and a tough work week and just find a good movie with Dolby Atmos and enjoy the thousands of dollars you've spent on some of the best hardware out there to watch that movie and you simply can't watch it because Sonos software is garbage and that is not a dramatization!
I wish I would spend another dime on anything Sonos. As long as they have those 2 women running that software division, they will never get the software experience on par with the hardware. They need to be fired! And, I am down with any class action suit that gets levied against Sonos. And, BTW, I had to go out and by an iPhone to tune my system as well. 🤬 And, much of the software issues revolve around Sonos trying to make sure the software works with Android, but not with the Google ecosystem! Sonos has spent so much time trying to make sure that Sonos products don't work with the Google ecosystem that even using iPhone(their preferred connectivity device) equipment doesn't resolve the problems. It's bled over into iPhone setup with their equipment. And you can best believe that none of your NEW (2023 OR NEWER) hardware will work with anything Google, and the Sonos Voice Assistant is straight garbage!
I say buy at your own risk! You have been warned!
BTW, I love Peter's channel because he's definitely given strong support to keep my Sonos equipment up and running properly, but there's only so much he can do!
The Sonos software division is the truly deplorable culprit here!
    RANT OVER! 😂😭

1] they need to get their App in order.
2] they need better compatibility and codes.
3] their hardware setup needs to at least rival Samsung q990d. So more tweeters and woofers, more high and surround channels. If not just be noticeably better sonicly.
4] their DSP need to rival Sony HT9 for 3D sound.

Would be great to see a upgraded version of the current Arc, at least for the people not wanting to add a sub. I am currently using the Arc combined with a sub gen 3 and two Sonos Era 300s. I’m very happy with my setup at the moment and do not expect to upgrade anytime soon.
And the complaints about the app… people please, give it time. They tried to innovate and take a different approach. It backfired, okay. They recently apologised and now we all have to move on and stop exaggerating, it isn’t all that bad.
There is no succes without failure, that goes for Sonos as well.
So people, please show some kindness, that won’t hurt, right.

It is the Sonos leadership that should show some kindness and appreciation for their customer base. They did the opposite rushing the app out. The launch of the app was one of the most disastrous decision a household brand has ever taken

    • @jb7753
      @jb7753 2 месяца назад +1

My personal experience is that the quality of the product is fantastic. I don't necessarily push my system for volume, more so sound quality and surround sound. My system is an arc, gen 3 sub, and 2 x Era 300's, which I upgraded from 2 x Sonos One's for rear speakers. That said, even at 25 out of 100 is plenty loud and it just goes up from there.
The upgrade to 300's from One's was amazing. I was then able to use the One's in another area of the house, and they have moved into that space beautifully.
Regarding the faults of Sonos, yes, for some people who use the app features more than what I do, it was BAD!!! and for the CEO to take so long to put out a statement was a bit poor.... Also, this is their second large-scale fault in about a year. But, they did fix them, albeit eventually in some cases.
I can't comment for other brands in this "soundbar" system space as I've only had Sonos. Previously, I used amp and big speakers, etc. I don't know if other brands send out regular updates to improve the sound, etc, but for the $$'s you put into a Sonos system it's good to know it stays up to date and you're getting the best quality. I was also impressed when they added support for DTS a few years back... It would be great if they supported DTS:X at some point...

Increase the trade in value of the arc v1.0 against the arc v2.0 to show loyalty towards your existing customer base , who are willing to spend money knowing that the current flawed app has restricted and broken functionality inherent in the previous versions.

I was gifted a Sonos Arc from my wife at my birthday. I immediately returned it as I am waiting for the 2nd gen. due to all of the rumors or a upgrade soon to come. I would be so sad to have spend such big money for a device that will be be outdated within a couple of months.
My wife clearly understood my thoughts and agreed that it would be better to wait for the next upgrade as we've been used to a TV sound for the past 10 years. So waiting a couple of months was no biggie 😄
Looking forward to seeing and feeling the revolution!
So do you expect the bass performance of the Arc gen 2 to be as good as the Sonos Sub? And you eventually have the same performance from a gen 2 towards the current going Arc + Sub? 🙂

It seems the Era 300’s have enhanced the Sonos soundbar system but the Arc is a few years old now and I’ve read it’s going to be replaced in late autumn with a new arc 2. I think if you are updating a product that hasn’t been changed in years you would expect a substantial improvement rather than a small incremental one. Having watched a few video reviews the general consensus is that the soundbar is the weakest link in the system with the Gen 3 sub and Era 300 surrounds. Not shabby by any means but could be better with dialogue and less artificial sounding.

I am one of those people that is holding back with Sonos till this new release will come out. Still the lack of support of DTS-X etc is a problem for me. Then there is the new Sony Bravia Theatre Quad that offers a surround sound that Sonos can't beat. I don't think this soundbar is going to deliver that because it's a soundbar and that can never be as immersive as a full surround set up. I was hoping Sennheiser would be releasing surrounds speakers but unfortunately that has not happened yet.

They can’t defy the laws of physics. Speakers move air for sound, so the bigger the cone, the more air=louder and more/deeper bass. They can move more air with long throw drivers or increase the cone size artificially with passive radiators. All of this has been done and all of these features currently exist on the current Arc. Higher quality drivers with a premium cone material, a longer throw and bigger magnet can produce more and better sound, but will cost a lot more. I think they realized they can now charge up to $1500 for a sound bar so they will use more premium drivers and amps in a similar form factor and it will easily outperform the Arc gen 1 as well as other soundbars currently on the market. Start saving!

Sonos don't need a newer soundbar. They should make it possible to use more speaker for their Atmos setup. Like a Beam G2 as Center, 4x Era 100 or 300 and 1-2 Subs. Waiting for Googles Atmos-Codec that allows you to setup any speaker to your setup.
Let's see what they cooked up for the Arc Gen. 2. At least 2- 3 HDMI inputs would be nice. Sound should be on the same level as the Sennheiser Ambeo Plus. If they had Rears I would have bought the Ambeo over the Arc for 100%.

For me the recent app issues have made me realise that something that is so app dependent is not what I want anymore. You can’t even use the aux in on the fives anymore without going in to the app to select it. Where’s the auto switching gone. For me I just don’t like the interaction with the app and products. Sometimes it would be nice to control volume or skip a track without opening an app on your phone. The Sonos controller was a good option.
