I heard someone who asked how do your parental rights to decide what your children can read trump mine? All the child predator stuff you thought you heard must have been in your head.
My father used to say that at the dinner table when I was a kid...teenager. I'd roll my eyes. It didn't take me long...I was literally in high school, before I began to see what he was talking about. Americans need to reinvent the public schools. Take back ownership as much as is practically possible. And localize it as much as possible. The public school system is definitely a political battleground and to not acknowledge this is to let strangers control your child's destiny.

She really wanted “to be seen” and feel “affirmed” in her strap on.

How so? She won the argument. Liberty Mom didn't even *know* there was an opt-out form. If what she really wanted was to shelter her own children, she'd have made it her business to know about such things. Instead, she joined a political movement aimed at erasuring the history of everyone who isn't Leave It To Beaver. She said the opt-out form was a "good start" but its the *entire solution* and solves the problem she claims to be after. So its not a "good start" its a thing that was already there before she even became a political activist. Her movement is irrelevant for any other purpose than passing around Hitler quotes in their newsletters.

It's very simple: if a school board is uncomfortable with a parent reading from a book available at their library at a public meeting, it should not be ALLOWED in their library. Nobody is trying to ban it outright. Joy and people like her are just pure evil.
The point is, the people reading these things at school boards aren't giving the full context of what they're quoting, and that it's unfair to argue for "parental rights" while actively denying those rights to parents who disagree with what you might consider inappropriate for children.

That takes away *their* parental rights to control what *their* child reads. And Joy is right, an opt-out form is a much more fair way to go about this, rather than sending a few dozen people out all over the country to spread fear that affects thousands of kids in school districts that they don't even have children enrolled in. Does that make it more clear?

One item I disagree with is the statement that most librarians have master's degrees. That may have been true 40 years ago, but not now. I am a teacher and all of the "library techs" in our district hold no degree at all.

So the bots activate around 9am EST I’ve noticed. Anyone else seeing that pattern here as well? It’s like someone hits a button around that time and they all appear with multiple likes instantly. Must be depressing knowing that this channel needs that to seem relevant.
They operate different bots at different times. They also steal accounts form those that destroy them in the comments.
