At 35:59 Richard picks a purple token to harvest resources, but claims he couldn't do an A action (pick value and harvest all resources with this value), because he had already done it. The token must have moved around the board, because he actually used the C action for hops before, which he is now using again.
Thank you Rahdo for the runthrough! I just got this game, read the instructions and also totally missed the difference between monk activation and monk trigger. This saved me a big mistake this weekend! Really glad you annotate!! Thanks Paulo!!
@34:00 When a shed "activates" a monk, it doesn't "trigger" the monk. Monk activation : 1 brewer movement on the track. Monk triggered : Activates all the tiles around the monk. It's a common but a very, very important mistake. The only way to trigger monks is to grab a monk scoring disk (and trigger all those types of monk). When a monk activates another monk, same thing happens : activation, not triggering.
You are completely right and this is a HUGE mistake that I was also making in my plays!! The rules aren't very "clear" if you don't know what to look for... they throw around Trigger and Activation around and it seems the same thing but they are different things! This changes the game a lot! Thanks for the clarification!!
This is strange because following the rule book, Rahdo is doing it correctly. And it also makes some kind of sense because then you can get a revenue from 5 spaces with the biggest building (4) by having an adjacent monk which would be impossible with your rule.
My rulebook is in french but I assure you, if you think the rulebook says this is correct, it's probably because of the confusion between "activating" and "triggering".
The french rule book says : "ACTIVE TUILES ADJACENTES", and sends you to the section of the rulebook ""ESPACE D'ACTIVATION". So the mistake seems to be more on your side. Unless, their is a mistake in the rulebook. Can anyone contact the authors of this nice game ?
In French : Ccompleting a shed means getting "Revenu" from the choosen adjacent tiles. So: "Activer" a monk : Get "revenu" from adjacent tiles. This only happens when you use a disk from an "Espace d'activation". "Revenu" from a monk : Advance your brewer once on the track. See : "Revenu des tuiles moine" and "Entourer un site de construction". ("Chaque tuile ressource et moine activee de cette facon rapporte son REVENU habituel") You can contact the authors, others have done it before. It works as I explained it here (and as the rulebook states)
In the 42nd minute, when Rahdo was correcting his goof of moving up his hops, he overcorrected and dropped his hops to 15 when he should have gone down to 16
it was already noted when he made the mistake of covering the number activation spot... at this point it wasn't an error taking into consideration the state of the game presented to him so no notes were made because no goffs were made here
42:18 He should be on 16 hops, he was on 11 before he wrongly added 10. Also I don't think he gave back the money he incorrectly took for moving over 20.
I assume Rahdo is playing better than "Jen", but that move to "not use the quick 12 money" seemed unwise to me, as you'd conserve 2 resources instead and seeing that you can generate money later on as you placed quite a bit of stuff in the shady side. Generally speaking, I like that Rahdo tries to do different stuff in his vids just to show the game off, but I'm under the impression that Jen won't have a lot of success in her attempts here. The game seems pretty interesting.
If my antennas work correctly, I sense a bit of a gripe here. Understandable, I'm on the fence myself. It's easier to film for RIchard, the pictures we get are stable and generally better focused. People who get "sea-sick" easily probably tend to like this better. BUT we only get to see part of the mess some games tend to produce on the table (--> harder to guess its footprint/whether it'd fit on our own tables), the typical rahdo-ish experience of "how playing the game feels" suffers, because with a static camera there's nothing that emulates the player's thought process and eye movement as well as a moving camera.
I appreciate it, and so does my ADD! ha. My best friend and I had the rahdo running dialogue often especially with Hero Realms Ruins... at the hotel lobby and several people joined in to watch and listen.
This is an absolutely miserable game. I’ve never before played a game the induced misery and nausea. After playing it a couple of times it ended up in the dumpster. Stay away from this terrible game.

actually, Paulo missed this as well, and had been playing the game wrong also! *gasp* :)

“Monks doesn’t provide fertility value. They are Monks after all” hahahaha Rahdo made my day once more 😂
I can't wait for this game to release now!
In the 42nd minute, when Rahdo was correcting his goof of moving up his hops, he overcorrected and dropped his hops to 15 when he should have gone down to 16
noted... thanks
36:20 he activated hops since according to him level 2 activation was already done, but actually it was other way around
it was already noted when he made the mistake of covering the number activation spot... at this point it wasn't an error taking into consideration the state of the game presented to him so no notes were made because no goffs were made here
34:00 the wood started at 1 and he gained 5, so he should now be at 6, not 5.
noted... thanks
The cards are super thick, I thought they were stuck together. I’m contemplating on sleeving them since they are so thick.
42:18 He should be on 16 hops, he was on 11 before he wrongly added 10. Also I don't think he gave back the money he incorrectly took for moving over 20.

Ducat is pronounced like bucket.
me too!
You mean Ghul Bucket? ;P

42:10 He should have 16 since he started at 11 and overshot the 20 by 1.
noted... thanks
why selling a card for 1 money, when using one of them gives you 12?
timestamp please
Another static cam game review... I'm gonna watch it later on a screen that is larger than five inch.
If my antennas work correctly, I sense a bit of a gripe here. Understandable, I'm on the fence myself.

Seems hard to grasp what to go for. So many choices. AP an issue here?
we didn't find it too tough, but there is a lot going on!
Tops on Hops Hilarious :)))))
Is it only me having the feeling that Richard is repeating himself over and over when explaining the areas on the main board?
i do tend to repeat myself, it's a bad habit i picked up from my mother
I appreciate it, and so does my ADD! ha. My best friend and I had the rahdo running dialogue often especially with Hero Realms Ruins... at the hotel lobby and several people joined in to watch and listen.
"Repetition teaches the donkey". ...and people with ADD (like me, too) :)

Lots of rambling, too little editing, should have been around 20 mins instead. Had to find another shorter, straight to the point video.
the rambling is the entire point of the show, but i hope you found something else more to your liking :)
