Hi Guys,
I thought I'd share my process for taking macro photography and videography with my micro four-thirds (m43) Lumix GH5 and Olympus 60mm f2.8 Macro lens.
I mainly make content about watches. In this video, I capture:
Grand Seiko SBGN001
Rolex Explorer 14270
Greubel Forsey HM1
Oris Pro Pilot X
JLC Gyrotourbillon

how to take macro photograph, what is macro photography, what does macro mean?, how to take macro shots of watches, how to take macro shot, best macro lens, best macro lens gh5, best macro lens m43, micro four thirds lens,
Can you do like a behind the scene video? I would love to actually see how you set up you camera and lighting as well as playing around with different settings and show us how it changes the shot. Great work, super interesting.
From someone recently getting deeper into watch macro photography, I really enjoyed listening to your thought process
Another superb video. That’s the mistake I made of shooting at 1.8 and 2.8. Now will try shooting at 7 and 9 as well and the lowest ISO. Many thanks.
great thoughts on this topic just getting into it.
Great tips and great photography 👏👏
Taken you long enough to do this 😉 as someone who loves photography I’m not here for the tips. But certainly am for you.
Haha. It did take me too long.
Finally you've open this channel! We needed it!
What about a lume shot tutorial? I found those the most challenging to get
Oh, Happy new year Jack, Cheers from Italy!
Hi Adrian, thanks so much for doing this video! My lowly channel only aspires to the sort of shots you get but this guide has been especially useful for composition. I am using an Olympus TG6 which has a microscope mode and can shoot unbelievable macro...the only challenge is that I need good light due to the small sensor. Anyway, thanks again and keep up the great work!
The content on both channels is great but would seriously love to see more here!
Damn, I remember joining bark and jack back when you did I think like top cheap watches and there was a seiko 5 in there, being on a small channel of yours feels like I’m back in the club of early birds
Great video with good tips. Thank you 😁👌
Thank you for the video.
I am conducting in-depth research to find a way to combine a MACRO lens with my ZV-E10 camera.
The goal is to create a channel about restoring antique watches, where I will be filming a lot in 4K during the process of disassembling, restoring parts, and crafting new ones, and then reassembling them into the movement. The channel will also feature macro videos on polishing with very high grit scales, which requires a high-quality lens.
There are many videos about macro lenses for cameras that focus solely on photographing insects.
So far, I’ve found a good Sony lens that offers 1:1 magnification, but it comes at a high cost.
If you could kindly share more tips on this topic, that would be wonderful.
I wish you continued success!
Hey Adrian, great video. I’ve recently got into macro photography of watches and learning all the time. This video has given me some really helpful tips. Have you tried focus stacking? I’ve not done this method yet but by taking several photos of the subject at the smallest aperture and moving subject at slightly different focal lengths ,then layering your photos will yield a much crisper image than taking just one image with complete subject in focus. Hope this made sense.
Hello. Could you be so kind as to tell me what your camera + lens setup is?
I'm researching what would be the best way to record videos and photos for a channel about watch restoration.
Thanks
Excellent and it is really not so as easy as you make it sound!
Hehe... sure isn't, but don't forget: practice makes perfect. Also, if you are using a digital camera... you don't have to pay for film or development... you can see n learn from your results in minutes! ;-)
I was actually just trawling through the video list on b&J and couldn't find these. For a min there I thought there was either copyright issues or something else with the videos and you took them down. Subscribed already and looking forward to seeing more Adrian.
Happy new year.
Cheers
Lloyd
Happy New Year !!!❤️🥳
Thank you, I've been struggling with my macro shots, especially video and was wondering, which step to take next (lighting/lens etc.).
I was suprised that the link to the Olympus Macro lens was missing in your gear description, could you maybe add it later on?
Superb. Thanks
this was great.
Nice! But why the Olympus 60mm lens and not the Laowa 65mm that has a 2x magnification?
What frame rate did you use ?
24 fps
30 fps
60 fps
Hello. I am using a Canon EOS 70D with a 50mm Prime lens attached to a macro extension. Is this gear too old to capture new standard stock footages.
Good info
can i use that lense on a sony cam?
Dude, this Lumix Ambassador I use to watch reminds me just of you and all his content is gone....is it you?!?!?! Haven't watched his stuff in a while!
Hi! Thanks for the awesome content. I'm looking for vintage macro lense... any ideas? I've a couple vintage lenses, but those seem to have a tint or hue/tone left on the pic. My reason is the cost... I can learn, n decide if I like it before buying an expensive lense.
Thanks, JoseTheVegan on RUclips
Canon m50 user here
New sub here 😉 I absolutely love macro!! However it’s not easy to execute, unless of course you’re Adrian Barker 👍🏼
What about focus bracketing for close ups. ?
Leica Q2 for 4k watch video. 300mbps or 200mbps sd card?
Uso o cartão SanDisk U3 de 200 Mbps e consigo ótimos resultados gravando vídeos em 4K com a Sony ZV-e10.
Perhaps this channel can focus on tea. Rather than coffee. 🤪
Haha.
eye eye
Entertaining video, 100mph.
Actually macro means to make something large, not to shoot something small :D
it's used in photography as in to make the SUBJECT large. idk why, but that's how it's commonly framed.
@@BuonCo that’s literally exactly what I wrote ? :)
