Thing is that tariffs in US, imo, did not prevent anything so far. China ev manufacturers anyway wanted to "conquer" Europe first. So, imo, China ev would not come to US for next 5y anyway. And tariffs are also a bit stupid, cause US anyway does not produce cars for the masses, that China also does. There are no BYD Seagull size cars in US. Even ice cars of that size are not selling, cause they are a bit too expensive. Also, the global west did subsidized it's own manufacturers thru tax cats and subsidies, so it's not like China did anything else. Oh no, building factory costs. I can tell you that in Eu that is also heavily subsidized here as well. Countries compete for manufacturers to open production in there countries, so they basically give away land and infrastructure for free, they also subsidize pays for the employees...
Tariffs tax & sanctions (unfair) only hurts consumers & eliminates consumers choices, America should practice what it preaches "Free Trade" around the world. BTW Elon also backed by U.S. government.
Not going to be many consumers if the overall economy has been immiserated because all the best industries have been killed off by foreign competition (which got where it was due to heavy government subsidies). Simplistic libertarianism is the road to economic decrepitude.
Companies from various provinces and cities across China engage in fierce competition. This intense internal rivalry ensures that only the most successful emerge to compete on the global stage. This applies to industries such as solar panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles, batteries, semiconductors, smartphones, AI, drones, robotics, consumer electronics, home appliances, textiles and apparel, pharmaceuticals and APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), biotechnology and genomics, telecommunications and 5G technology, e-commerce and fintech, and rocket reusability.

Well, what can you do if you are the dinosaur that conquer the world for this long until you see the meteor approaching you fast? That's the feeling of the American automotive bosses right now.
China royalty was known for living lavish lifestyles enjoying the best of art/food/life during all dynasties. You still envision poor China during the century of humiliation. China is awakened today. Like all countries, China still faces many obstacles but is in a better position.
Chinese car makers are ahead in terms of bringing “ great “ cars but quality is not their forte Legacy car manufacturers have that edge of delivering quality if they wish to. And lastly EV tech hasn’t reached its epitome and EV cars are still a small in percentage compared to ICE cars, there is still so much time to develop the tech.
actually Made in China's quality is equivalent or better than made in U.S.A. today. They dumped quantity over quality about 10 years ago. That's why lot's of our smart devices r so dependable.
If Chinese EV's are low quality, tariffs are unnecessary because sales will equally be bad. Lada, Soviet ICE cars didn't last long in Canada they disappeared into oblivion, only few people remember them. My father owned a Lada Samara, I can confirm it was bad, the only positive comments I often heard about Ladas were "cheap and easy to repair". More recently Daewoo from South Korea also failed in Canada. Legacy brands can't compete with Chinese EV's quality for the price, the same way they couldn't with Japanese ICE cars in the 80's. At that period Japan was bullied until it capitulated in the 90's, stagnating its economy, which is still not recovering. History is repeating itself, only this time China is a bigger and more resilient competitor. Like in sports only the best performing athletes are threats to other competitors, ironically, fearful of the competitor, legacy car brands desperately resort to the " Tonya Harding approach" .
Don't trust the West - BYD is the Best ;) Top UBS engineers found that BYD Seal has top tech & 15% better value than Tesla, 30% better than the EU manufacturers. EVs are 83x safer than the ICE & even more than Hybrids (for fire)
Not for ev in case of legacy car manufacturer. Legacy car manufacturer only puts higher price to customer with lower quality over the time. As the name just legacy.
So the video starts with some guy pretending that 5 years ago, China did not have any normal cars (but only some small tricicle) and now has EVs. All the while China has still not ever invented anything themselves. It's all a copy, and at best produced in Taiwan (like the semi-conductors). People can continue to hype about "China Hightech" which will come to the west. Next year. Then the next. Then the next, etc... But it never comes, because it is not real. It's like taking marketing videos at face value and believing everything the manufacturer tells you is true. Newsflash - it is not.
Aside from being a, if not the, global leader in battery chemistry and production? Which is kind of the point of this video? Ford and GM both licensed battery tech from Chinese firm CATL because they haven't figured out how to do it themselves.
they won't allow Chino EV in U.S. bc Tesla is heavily backed by Americk's government, & other big corporate giant's investors, otherwise Chino EV b everywhere in U.S. for consumer to have choices. They say its a free trade / free market, but in reality that slogan only favors u know who. no wonder so many countries r moving towards BRICS. bc using sanctions, tariffs as a weapon will only push others away from the dollar.
As someone who lives in China, yeah some of these cars are nuts, insane quality too. Very cool stuff

"Wooo. Transition..." 😅
The problem is that their is no way to keep Chinese EV's out of North America.

Huh, I didn't realise this channel was this small... Now that I did, I can actually notice the lipsync 😅 Good video though

Better at spontaneous combustion!

And with the crappy cars they make, they 100% deserve it😂
I'll believe it when I see it, chine is NOT KNOWN for quality , never mind spare parts . Can't take over if you can service them.

If I can buy new cool ev for 11000$ full of option, I do not care if plastics squeak a bit, I am not paying 20k$+ for the same thing with no options.
