- Here's the PTB version of the new chase music and terror radius for The Legion in Dead by Daylight.
I honestly really like the new chase music, it really fits the legion, and the idea of them having metal music playing while they chase you, which the lore shows they're clearly fond of, is super fun and I'm excited that it's coming officially becoming a part of the game after countless of fan-made chase themes incorporating metal and rock instruments in their chase music.
I love too how depending on the add-on, the chase music actually changes, given that a different mixtape is being played. It's a super small detail that really goes a long way in my opinion.

Bc... most Legion players use the power which just immediately injure you after wasting almost a minute healing when not needed. Only heal if you're vs a Legion player who's not bothered about wanting to know where every healed survivor is.
Legion won't be a drag to face anymore with music like this.

Far- You’re in your bedroom, the windows are closed, and your neighbors are throwing a party.
Closer- You’ve decided to get out of bed and confront your neighbor, since it’s 2 AM and you’re tired. You’re in your driveway.
Near- You’re at their front doorstep now. You can hear the music barely being muffled by the door.
Chase- Somebody opened the door. Now, you feel like joining the party instead.
We can all collectively agree that the music changing with the mix tape add ons is one of the coolest things in dead by daylight ever

I actually love this music because of how it parallels the Legion, their lore, and who they are. People sometimes forget that they are a group of people, not just a single individual, and the layering and slow addition of instruments in this theme is almost akin to each member joining in on the chase as they get closer. I also like how Frank's mixtape largely adds lot more percussion since, in music, the percussion is often the foundation of a song, much like how Frank was/is the foundation of their group.
I like your analogy of Frank being the foundation of the group like the percussion of a song.
Additionally the description of Frank's mixtape adds that it is filled with percussive elements, and therefore it carries over into the music. Awesome as hell
Joey's mixtape sounds like when people make instruments out of buckets and other trash and other stuff, is there any mention of joey being a street performer or being like, poor?
@@thrandompug2254 In one of his cosmetics it did say Joey lived with his single mother, so it's a possibility.
@@thrandompug2254 Its description is "A mix of bangin' tracks and slammin' beats for chillaxin' when life's a bitch." also as Why Me WM said, he does live with his single mom. They also live in Ormond, which sounds alike a pretty nothing town that wouldn't have many rich residents as is. So it is likely they weren't very financially sound.
Julie: Adds a guitar to play along
Joey: Adds some kind of keyboard/electronics to the background
Susie: Adds a guitar just doing it's own thing
Frank: Adds drums
Fuming (The Entity): Adds demonic whispering vocals

I was pretty sure it was all these, the fuming I missed though. Very creepy and subtle.
Susie is lead guitarist i think(the person who plays solos in the band.). And Julie is playing rhytm guitar. The fumming mixtape adds bass to chase music.
For a moment I thought Joey's sounded more like a bass
Joey's is a guitar with a distortion pedal
there are two sides of legion players:
the ones that mix and match the mixtapes with other add-ons to create powerful combos and synergies
and the ones who just mix and match the mixtapes for the songs
A lot will become the latter, lol.
Then there is the third side like me that does both

@@ChunkyChungus Oh thats the only truly correct usage of mixtapes. And using specific mixtape on specific character more often is sweet cherry on top.
For me, Legion is one of the killers with the most personality. The simple fact that there are different animations for different characters that reflect their personalities is insane to me.
Now the killer is getting it's own theme that fits so well it's style, at the same time that helps better to differenciate the different characters.

@@shanegibson3281 Yeah, for example, in the lobby, if you pick the Susie skin, she have a completely original animation that looks shy and nervous, fitting her description from what they tell you about her in the backstory of Legion.

This track makes me want to see an animation in which every member of the Legion is hunting a group of survivors. The music is telling you that not only are you being hunted by someone who isn't working alone, but you're about to be hopelessly overwhelmed in style.

each of the mixtapes have meaning
Fuming: Obvious (Entity, similar to whispers)
Frank, adds more drums, the most impactful sound since he's the leader
Julie, a direct parallel/companion to Frank, adds guitar backing the main theme since she's incredibly loyal to him
Susie, much unlike Julie, adds a whole new melody with guitar since she was most opposed to the group's first kill that directly shifts away from the base theme
Joey, since he is the strong and stoic type, not quite as loyal as Julie, intense as Frank, or unique as Susie, his electronic addition represents a good.middle ground and baseline for the Legion's code of conduct
The fuming mixtape gave me chills, I love how you can hear the entity’s involvement in crafting this particular mixtape

This while adding to the angsty side of legion kinda takes away some of the "cringy" aspects of their character. I love it, so much more unique and lore-friendly. Also its nicely distincable what radius you are with the different instrument implementations

Whenever I’m chased by The Legion, I can’t help but bang my head the their theme
It simply goes hard.
People elsewhere mentioned that the slow addition of instruments mirrors how the others in The Legion join in as you get closer, but each additional instrument actually corresponds to a different member of the Legion, and their role in the gang.
Far: Julie's guitar, used as the backbone of the whole track as a baseline (or a *bass*line. I hate myself). She's the right-hand for Frank, and while he was the one who met Joey and Susie, she was the one already connected to, at least, Susie.
Closer: Joey's mix of industrial and electronic. Adding heart and melody to the track. Him and Susie were lead astray by Julie and Frank according to the original lore. Yet, it being the second-earliest to show up shows how he was willing to grit his jaw and stab the cleaner, leading to their status as a Killer.
Near: Susie's louder and more extravagant guitar, full of energy, more reflects Susie *now* than who she was. Removing the mask from her model shows her manic, brace-faced grin. The shy, naive Susie died with Frank forced her to help stab the cleaner. Now she welcomes the darkness within, and the guitar shows off the fury and energy that comes with the Legion as they are in the realm.
Chase: Finally, Frank's drums come in, and complete the track. Percussion is often the foundation of a song as others in this comment section have said, and Frank is the leader and foundation of the Legion. First to form the gang, first to stab the cleaner, and first to disappear into the Fog. His instruments being the last to show up show that even when not in a chase, his influence still leads the others.
And of course the Mixtapes make each instrument more prominent, with the Fuming Mixtape being the Entity itself making it's presence known.

I have had this chase music stuck in my head all day. I can't stop thinking about it. On the other hand, I gotta tell you Susie's and Franks mix definitely goes hard in my opinion. You have that shriek from the electric guitar and hardcore drum beat that just gets you pumped.
I like those too, my favorite is Julie's though.
Now there's always be the question - do I go with "powerful" build, or with "sick music" build?
I wanna hear Joey's with Susie's, Joey's with Julie's, and Fuming with Susie's.

I took guitar and bass lessons for years in high school and I love this so fucking much, Frank’s fuming mixtape adds that amazing sound of drums.
It’s amazing how music can get you hype in a game you were getting burnt out on, this patch is looking nice for killers though. I’m looking forward to playing legion again!

This is... beyond... this is just on another level and fittingly gritty, dark and a suiting theme to the Legion!!! I played Legion for an entire year 2019-2020. Boon meta wiped them out.

I really like this on so many levels. The music itself just slaps. I love the individual character of each tape, and how it fits to each Legion member. And it just gives playing Legion so much more character itself. No more bland stabby stabby guy, now we're really the edgy teens with a knife. Chases on the PTB were so much more fun.
Then it can only get even more fun once it hits live servers!

I wish the Legion's run animation was similar to wesker's, or even, the legion's run animation is the survivor's run animation. I don't know if this makes sense but it would be cool if the legion mimicked the run animation of the survivor their chasing. It would add to the whole "The Legoin are just regular people." The frenzy animation should stay the same tho :)

And just like that everyone got excited to face off against a legion. I always liked the menu music they have and now they have the best chase music! Interesting to make addons play different music when equipped but now I have a reason to use the other two tapes! Suzie and julie mixtapes were my favorite.

The base tune is gritty but pretty upbeat in a major key, but the mixtapes actually turn it to minor key and make it sound more chaotic.

i just realised, looking at the artwork, it would be so cool for ormond to actually resemble a ski resort terrain wise. I'd love to see a slope to the map and see mountain slopes like seen in dead dawg saloon. it would add so much life to it.
