100% agree. Mercedes/Sasha is an above average wrestler. But, imo, she has never lived up to the hype in WWE or AEW. She was a bigger star in WWE but in AEW she is lacking.
Mercedes can't work without writers. Hikaru and Willow cut their teeth on the indies so they were able to carry those matches. Saraya Luckily has been escaping that vortex. I think she's finally finding her feet again. IMO. Kamille is STUNNING! Look up her matches in NWA. Lets hope Jimmy Jacobs leaving will be an improvement!
Honestly, her segments on AEW always makes me cringe and I have to tune out. You can tell she is "playing a character" and it comes off very fake. You can also tell that beyond her character, she probably thinks she's a top star in the business and maybe she had that illusion in WWE but in AEW, she's not a draw and I don't think there is much interest in her anymore past her honeymoon debut period.
People see straight through her. The AEW crowd senses that she’s there because of the money and her heart has never been in AEW. She’s a forever WWE girl that had her relationship with Vince McMahon sour, NOT Hunter or WWE. Big difference. This actually happened to guys like Swerve, Adam Cole and Keith Lee. Keith Lee didn’t want it bad enough to be a star. Swerve took the ball and became a star, Adam is still up in the air. He’s been way too injured to call a career in AEW so far.
Adam Cole's relationship with Triple H or WWE didn't sour. Triple H had a heart attack and he left. Keith Lee, sure, he got fired when Triple H wasn't around. But Adam Cole, Swerve "Snitch" Strickland, and Keith Lee aren't even close to being "Stars" even in their own company
Imagine thinking Swerve Scott is a star, the guy is the lowest drawing world champion in AEW and he only won by using race card on social media until it became a thing.

Yes, Mercedes has been a bust. Especially as a babyface. Her heel character had potential but everything sounds so cringy & scripted. Her in-ring work has always been overrated & needs to be booked as a cowardly heel because her just beating someone’s ass isn’t believable at all. Since WWE is actually run as a business with the goal to profit, they were not ever gonna match AEWs offer in pay OR push. So Mercedes absolutely made the right choice.. TK not so much, as usual

WWE knew how to manage, market her, and portray her like a star. They knew how to get her over with the mainstream/casual audience which is more important than the hardcore wrestling fandom. But she feels so bush league in AEW. I would legitimately be interested in seeing how many people who followed her in WWE followed her to NJPW and AEW.
That's why WWE is striving and AEW isn't. WWE knows they need to get NEW EYES into the product because the "HARDCORE" fans are getting older so they know they can't fully invest all their resources on those Hardcore fans...Who are the money makers for their business? The kids, not the hardcore Marks..........WWE listens to all ages of their fans for input/interest while AEW focus on the sickos opinion only.....The people that are not sickos are the minority and they don;t have a voice because Hardcore sickos will call you out and say if you don't like our hardcore blood, dangerous spot show, then go watch PG WWE. The only thing that's a bust about Mercedes Mone is her CEO gimmick. Just have her be a heel without all the noise. I don't know why anybody sitting at home on their couch cares how much any wrestler gets paid. If AEW couldn't afford it then it wouldn't have offered it. Plus, her salary raises the pay floor for every other wrestler on the roster and gives them a higher target to aim for when it's time for them to renegotiate.

I'll give her credit, her last couple matches have been much tighter in terms of flow and much less robotic/botchy. She is finding her footing and with time see the promo work is improving as well.
Whoever thinks Mercedes is a bust isn't a pro wrestling fan. She was injured when she made her first appearance back in March. She is still one of the best pro wrestlers out there. The fans just call her "cringe" because of her entrance theme and catch phrase. You can't look at her that way. We have to look at her performance in-ring. A majority of the "haters" are upset WWE fans that she decided to sign with AEW instead of their precious WWE. She has elevated the women's division as a whole and AEW has really started to focus on women's storylines. As an example, look at the feuds of Thunder/Deonna on Collision, Stat/WIllow, Mariah/Toni just to name a few. AEW never focused on women's pro wrestling before Mercedes arrived. We would get the token 4 min match every Dynamite. Now we have complex storylines and the best feuds in all of pro wrestling.
Honestly i think she is, if eeports are correct the have creative control, that doesnt work for me brother, i know that they squashed it immediately but the can do a program between Saraya and Mone so they have something to sink in their teeth into, but if she has a big contract and limited days to work its never a a good combo

People call me a hater because I wanna see em do better. I'm not impressed by Mercedes. She left WWE to go make a name on her own. She botched her new NEVER SEEN BEFORE FINISHER in Japan. She then went to a dying company and expected to be as big a deal as Britt Baker?! She done nothing great in AEW. She's just taking the place of wrestlers we actually care about and want to see. Example: Kris Stat, Anna Jay, Tay Conti, Dr Britt Baker D.M.D..... the homegrown female talents who made the company stay afloat. I never liked Sasha to begin with though.

I count myself as one of Tommy Dreamers biggest fans. I caught his bloody wristband he tossed into the crowd at the end of a house show, where he teamed up with Dusty vs Corino & Jack Victory. But boy is he good at saying a whole lot of nothing.
I think she’ll do great once in good condition again and a solid story is in place (just like anyone else would need). I do believe she got slotted into a high position way too early, as a fan I would’ve loved to see her run through the roster and become champ that way, instead of her 2nd match being a champion already.
Problem with that is just like WWE had in the late 2010's more people are tuning out than tuning in. What Tony sees as a "dream match" might not appeal to his audience. I get wanting to be different than WWE but you also gotta be a smart businessman too.

One of my favorite baby face promos of all time, have yet to find it posted on RUclips, Tommy Dreamer after having been beaten by the Great Khali on WWE's version of ECW. The rematch never happened and Khali was switched back over to the main roster. (At least that's how I remember it.)

Aew is Tony Khans video game hobby, not a business. So knowing that, the evaluation is completely different from Wwe, or even Tna. Mercedes is light years ahead on Aew because she's not injured, wrestles joshis regardless of skill, and doesn't miss matches like Britt.
Not only is she a bust (so far) but she's a good reminder that, sometimes, it's really as much about the environment a performer is in as much as the performer herself. Mercedes simply doesn't shine in AEW the way she does in WWE. You got the sense she thought she was hot shit when she left WWE- and she was! But a lot of it had to do with the way WWE made her look like a star (and hid her weaknesses). She'll probably return to WWE one day and pretend like AEW never happened. Hopefully she'll learn her lesson and be a little more humble/aware that it's not solely about her.

i think mercedes is a great performer/wrestler. I just think she is better with a director/match producer. she can get accomplished what you want accomplished but can do it better if she is given bullet points to hit in matches.
The easy answer is yes. She was supposed to be a transcendent piece added to AEW that would transform their women’s division. By all accounts, she’s one of the highest paid wrestlers on the roster. Fast forward to now, AEW’s ratings and attendance are in the toilet. Their women’s division still sucks. She was never going to make a difference when the booker has about as much knowledge as a person in this comment section when it comes to wrestling
Sasha Banks was never THE one at any level of WWE, and she can’t promo herself out of a wet paper bag. She wasn’t going to bring eyes to the product, and she doesn’t have a support system (competent backstage personnel) to prop her up.

No, Mercedes Mone is not a bust. She is on television regularly. She has held several titles. She continues to have significant angles. That is not a bust. Maybe she is a disappointment because she has not delivered more ratings, but she is not a bust. A bust is someone like Miro, who signed for big bucks from the WWE and has about 35-36 matches in total in four years without any significant feud or angles in four years. Miro has done next to nothing since 2021.

She's a bust in the fact that she didn't do anything to earn that belt other than sign a contract. She didn't prove herself, she didn't put in the grind to deserve the opportunity. She wasn't that good in WWE, yet she is beating AEW's best when she's not that good and the large majority of her matches are predictable like last night's. She's done better in her short time in AEW than her entire career in WWE but Tony's done Shida dirty and Baker too. On top of all that, her gimmick is just bad. It was bad when she took it to Stardom and still bad in AEW.

Yes, Mercedes has been a bust. Especially as a babyface. Her heel character had potential but everything sounds so cringy & scripted. Her in-ring work has always been overrated & needs to be booked as a cowardly heel because her just beating someone’s ass isn’t believable at all. WWE knew how to manage, market her, and portray her like a star. They knew how to get her over with the mainstream/casual audience which is more important than the hardcore wrestling fandom. But she feels so bush league in AEW. I would legitimately be interested in seeing how many people who followed her in WWE followed her to NJPW and AEW.

The only thing that's a bust about Mercedes Mone is her CEO gimmick. Just have her be a heel without all the noise. I don't know why anybody sitting at home on their couch cares how much any wrestler gets paid. If AEW couldn't afford it then it wouldn't have offered it. Plus, her salary raises the pay floor for every other wrestler on the roster and gives them a higher target to aim for when it's time for them to renegotiate.

I'll give her credit, her last couple matches have been much tighter in terms of flow and much less robotic/botchy. She is finding her footing and with time see the promo work is improving as well.
Whoever thinks Mercedes is a bust isn't a pro wrestling fan. She was injured when she made her first appearance back in March. She is still one of the best pro wrestlers out there. The fans just call her "cringe" because of her entrance theme and catch phrase. You can't look at her that way. We have to look at her performance in-ring. A majority of the "haters" are upset WWE fans that she decided to sign with AEW instead of their precious WWE. She has elevated the women's division as a whole and AEW has really started to focus on women's storylines. As an example, look at the feuds of Thunder/Deonna on Collision, Stat/WIllow, Mariah/Toni just to name a few. AEW never focused on women's pro wrestling before Mercedes arrived. We would get the token 4 min match every Dynamite. Now we have complex storylines and the best feuds in all of pro wrestling.

I count myself as one of Tommy Dreamers biggest fans. I caught his bloody wristband he tossed into the crowd at the end of a house show, where he teamed up with Dusty vs Corino & Jack Victory. But boy is he good at saying a whole lot of nothing.
I think she’ll do great once in good condition again and a solid story is in place (just like anyone else would need). I do believe she got slotted into a high position way too early, as a fan I would’ve loved to see her run through the roster and become champ that way, instead of her 2nd match being a champion already.
Mercedes needs to work with the Aew talent more. I think the next time her and Brit go at it will be a lot better

Problem with that is just like WWE had in the late 2010's more people are tuning out than tuning in. What Tony sees as a "dream match" might not appeal to his audience. I get wanting to be different than WWE but you also gotta be a smart businessman too.

Aew is Tony Khans video game hobby, not a business. So knowing that, the evaluation is completely different from Wwe, or even Tna. Mercedes is light years ahead on Aew because she's not injured, wrestles joshis regardless of skill, and doesn't miss matches like Britt.
Not only is she a bust (so far) but she's a good reminder that, sometimes, it's really as much about the environment a performer is in as much as the performer herself. Mercedes simply doesn't shine in AEW the way she does in WWE. You got the sense she thought she was hot shit when she left WWE- and she was! But a lot of it had to do with the way WWE made her look like a star (and hid her weaknesses). She'll probably return to WWE one day and pretend like AEW never happened. Hopefully she'll learn her lesson and be a little more humble/aware that it's not solely about her.

i think mercedes is a great performer/wrestler. I just think she is better with a director/match producer. she can get accomplished what you want accomplished but can do it better if she is given bullet points to hit in matches.
The easy answer is yes. She was supposed to be a transcendent piece added to AEW that would transform their women’s division. By all accounts, she’s one of the highest paid wrestlers on the roster. Fast forward to now, AEW’s ratings and attendance are in the toilet. Their women’s division still sucks. She was never going to make a difference when the booker has about as much knowledge as a person in this comment section when it comes to wrestling

No, Mercedes Mone is not a bust. She is on television regularly. She has held several titles. She continues to have significant angles. That is not a bust. Maybe she is a disappointment because she has not delivered more ratings, but she is not a bust. A bust is someone like Miro, who signed for big bucks from the WWE and has about 35-36 matches in total in four years without any significant feud or angles in four years. Miro has done next to nothing since 2021.

She's a bust in the fact that she didn't do anything to earn that belt other than sign a contract. She didn't prove herself, she didn't put in the grind to deserve the opportunity. She wasn't that good in WWE, yet she is beating AEW's best when she's not that good and the large majority of her matches are predictable like last night's. She's done better in her short time in AEW than her entire career in WWE but Tony's done Shida dirty and Baker too. On top of all that, her gimmick is just bad. It was bad when she took it to Stardom and still bad in AEW.
