Finally did a Q&A for the channel! Watch as I answer questions submitted from this community and offer my small insight to working as a composer.

What's a undertone music means wrt Film scoring ?
Brief given to score a war scene was Music needs to be intense but at the same time it should be undertone.
That means the music shouldn't distract from whatever is going on in the scene. For example, if there's dialogue, it shouldn't take away from hearing or understanding everything that's being said. In this case, you're music needs to add a feeling of intensity without being big and distracting.

I'm curious as to what you think about everyone wanting to be film composers these days?
I mean, I feel like everyone has always wanted to be film composers. The only difference now is that, largely because of technology, there is just way less of a barrier to entry. And I'm happy about that! Who knows if I would have had the opportunities I have otherwise. I don't deserve this or have a right to this career any more than anyone else, and I think the fact that just about anyone in the world can take a stab at it is a great thing.
There is more content being created now than ever before, which means a rising demand for original, scored music. I think it's a ripe ground for new blood. I also think, just like always, the ones who work the hardest on their craft and all the other responsibilities you have as a film composer, position themselves in the right way for "lucky" opportunities, and crush it when the time comes will be the ones who push through the crowd.
Sorry about the LONG answer haha. I'll leave you with one final thing someone once told me that is true for every single person trying to do this: "Lots and lots of people can write music, but no one can write music just like YOU."
@@jessehaugen wow thanks for such a comprehensive response, I do agree with you there no matter in what profession you're in whether it be composing or something else if you are amazing at that then you do position yourself for lucky opportunities you're right.

Of course! Hopefully that cured some of your curiosity about the sample libraries. I have the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol 88 mkI. It's fully weighted, which I like! Don't think it's necessary, but it is nice to have some resistance.
@@jessehaugen thank you , so about libraries. I see that most of you libraries has a hollywood sound - EW , CB, PS , CSS. Its cool! I want to try EW , so many time ago recorded, will it actuale? And what do you think about VSL?
I've never really noticed that, but you're right!
The EW stuff is definitely old, and at this point I don't know if I'd start there again. But there are just so many things that are a part of my DNA from those libraries that I can't get rid of them. Never used VSL, so can't say really.
