I honestly cannot stop listening to this piece, Kenny Werner knew what he wrote 30 years ago. Greg Newman was absolutely phenomenal on the flugelhorn, and you can tell he had a blast playing this piece! What I’d do to see them at UNT or at UTD before I graduate!

andrew I agree - I would have loved all the trumpet section to have switched to flugels for the ensemble here, and a little more prominence to the French horn, because the piece is so mellow, but it was a fantastic performance anyway. Greg Newman, like Austin Ford and Josh Kaufmann from the same band (though not in this line-up) are three names I am sure will have great careers, if there is any justice in the word.

Does anyone know what became of Will Nathman (tenor sax) in this recording. Love his tone, ideas, etc. Would like to hear more of him.

Nice performance, but the trumpet solo killed it.... Sorry... Maybe he was to nervous?

I've heard quite a few flawed, nervous trumpet solos in my time; that was not one of them.

@@nolanmccafferty9932 I thought the flugelhorn solo was first rate - mellow, inventive and totally suiting the mood of the piece - I am really glad that more of us are supportive than the original poster
