DIY IKEA glass top vanity/dresser using IKEA Alex drawers & IKEA Komplement glass shelf and IKEA Komplement jewellery tray to make a customisable jewellery display
Tray, inserts & glass comes in 3 different sizes: 100cm, 75cm & 50cm
Measurements of holes to drill for glass shelf:
1st hole:
2.3cm down
2.4cm in
2and hole:
2.3cm down
24.9cm in
3rd hole:
2.3cm down
55cm in
Measurements of holes for jewellery tray:
1st hole:
8.7cm down
2.4cm in
From there you can mark where the 2nd hole needs to be, I cant remember what it was but if you line up the runner to the first hole you can mark where it needs to be drilled!

Measurements were spot on and looks awesome
I used the impressions vanity drawers and then the IKEA center in 29.5”. I paid $411 for everything including the mirror versus $1100 that impressions vanity charged! Thank you so much for this.

They came with the glass shelf from IKEA. Theyre L shaped shelf hooks. Im sure they sell them seperately in the parts section

So cool and creative !!!!! I was wondering if it could hold a computer keyboard and a mouse, and I am also wondering if the tray could hold my dj mixture its about 2-3 pounds and 2 inches in height. And by any chance do you where else I could get one in the USA.

I ended up using your idea for the slide in tray and added the Ekby Alex on top as opposed to the shelf.

I would say try it and have a look underneath to see the wear on the clips, if they are bowing then I would suggest finding sturdier clips like the metal ones! There's loads on Amazon!! X

Loved this idea but it has been taking me toooo long! The rail screws are too thick to get into the side of the cabinets! How did you get it in? I see in your video very small holes 😑

You can get metal pins from Amazon that would make it sturdier as the plastic ones aren't very! Im looking to change them to metal ones soon! ✌🏽

This looks great. I think for my height I just have to add some sort of casters or rise of some sort to the bottom and then I can make it work. as it is I think the tray is 22 inches off the ground and that hits right at my knees. How exciting. that shouldn't cost me much at all! thanks bae!

If it's the same depth (58cm) it should be the same measurements x

How did you get the glass shelf to fit perfectly? The IKEA drawer unit says it’s 36x70cm and the glass shelf says it’s 100x58 cm.
It's 36cm wide, 70cm high and 58cm deep. So they match
They have different size glass shelves on IKEA. She didn’t use the 100x58 cm shelf, but the 100x35 cm one I’m assuming. Because it didn’t fit my drawers and now I have to take it back.
Hi, the glass shelf I used was 100Wx58D and the Alex drawers I have are 36Wx70Hx58D. It's all linked below but I think the links might be different for US!
TFS...I absolutely love this. Your glass top & jewelry tray makes this the best on YT in my opinion. Unfortunately there isn't a Ikea close to me therefore I'm trying to hack it. The IKEA Komplement trays come in different sizes, my one is 100cm tray, I built obe for my friend with a smaller room using the 75cm tray and they also have a 50cm tray x

Hey, the middle bit is 100cm. IKEA have different sizes, a 50cm and a 75cm if you dont want it so big. The drawers are 36cm wide so 36+36+100=172cm xx

I wouldnt suggest screwing into it but Amazon have metal pins for this that would be more sturdier! 👌🏽

@@karls_w9125 where did you get the mounting hooks that screw into the side of the Alex?
I found out the glass top I got was returned so it didn't have the mounting brackets. Took it back and got a new one and viola! the brackets were included.

Yea the drawer comes separate from the glass shelf! It's just called IKEA KOMPLEMENT Jewellery tray. The grey inserts come with but you can also buy the tray without!

If there isnt any heavy direct pressure, ive used my laptop on it. Can have a mirror on it if it hangs over and the base of the weight is on the drawer tops x

Do you think this is something that can be done with Alex drawers on only one side, the 29.5" Ikea pull out and legs on the other side? I haven't the space to do the full size version as you show here but I really like it!
Not sure if that would work as the shelf needs to hook in or rest on something! The shelf comes in 3 different sizes, 50cm 75cm and 100cm x

I am having trouble getting the pegs to hold the glass shelf, it seems to not be able to handle the weight, perhaps my holes were too wide? Any tips on how to fix this?
Id say flip the drawers around and redo the holes! You can patch up the holes that will now be on show! 👌🏽
The pegs that come with the glass shelf should hold it! You want the holes relatively tight so you have to squeeze in the pegs so it doesnt move
What supports pieces did you put into your drill holes to hold up the table top?
The plastic shelf pins that came with the Komplement shelf from IKEA but you can also get metal ones off Amazon! Just search shelf pins x
