    I would love to see a video where you make a two part mold using Mold Max XLSII. I tried it over and over again using Ease Release™ 200 using all kinds of different methods but it simply does not cure on keys and other recessed areas. It seems impossible to work with and I can't find good info on how to pull it off. I'm using Mold Max 30 for over 15 years now and I never ever had any problems with it.

    I am getting ready to cast my Batman cowl after building a Mold from Mold Max. I am tinting with UVO Black. Will the finish be glossy? If I dust the inside of the mold with baby powder will it make the finish more matte? I need a matte black.

      @smoothon  6 месяцев назад

      Hi there! It will depend on the surface finish of the piece you made the mold from. That surface finish will transfer to the mold. This is a good question for our tech support team, can you send them a ticket here? www.smooth-on.com/support/ticket/add/agree/ Thanks for watching!

      @@smoothon sure will! Thanks! Yeah I painted the original and it is more glossy black. No issue if it is stuck that way. Just experience under my belt. It is not like I will not be molding and casting tons more stuff.

    Hi, good video. Im just getting started in casting as a hobby. I started using the smooth-on 300. The masters are a two part model that snap on and off of each other, created from a 3D printer, so even thin lines and walls are quite strong. Total weight is about 2oz. I was able to cast the items great, but the problem is that they are rather fragile. When snapping them on and off of each other, they tend to snap and break. Im taking care to make sure im mixing thoroughly, the 1A:1B mix ratio is exact, and that im giving it enough cure time. Can you give some advice?

      As it is a filled resin, it is not as impact resistant as some unfilled resins, but it strikes an excellent balance between lightweight and durability.

    Would you say this smooth on max product is the glossyist/shinnist finish you have for your silicone molds?
    (Im looking to start making my own molds for resin but I was a super glossy mold so my resin pieces are also very glossy)

    • @smoothon
      @smoothon  3 года назад

      The mold rubber will reflect the surface of the original model. If you have a glossy original, the mold made from it will also have a glossy surfce.

    Why do you guys make it so difficult to buy your products, I've been trying to buy crystal clear and cant get it from your website, or your amazon store... only through third party art stores! You can order Crystal Clear directly from us or Reynolds - Allentown. We require that you call us at 1-800-762-0744 or Reynolds at 844-294-1444. This is due to the fact that Crystal Clear resin should only be used in a shop or other properly outfitted facility by an experienced resin caster. Also, we are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM. Feel free to stop by! 😀 Thanks for watching our videos!
