One thing I'm realizing now after posting this video is that the looks I chose to highlight reflect my own tastes, which of course might not resonate with others, and that's totally cool. But putting looks together that work well ... the approach is really the same (as you point out) whether you aspire to cowboy workwear or satanic goth or whatever.
@ I appreciate your unique tastes in sauce tho! It’s all subjective. Since my wardrobe is way more in the satanic goth realm lol, my version of sauce is usually in drape, texture, silhouette, mood, geometry, asymmetry, maybe a minimal accessory.
Growing up in the 80s-90s through the skateboarding, punk, skinhead, mod, hip-hop, rave, and grunge eras has influenced my style Life experience+authenticity=sauce I also believe this equation can also work with tattoos that people choose to get as well
On the note of "not letting the clothes wear you", I think the thing that mentally strikes me the most is that I see the person before I see the clothes-- They look so effortless and at home in their style that it makes me want to ask who they are, and not what they are wearing. This was an excellent video! I never gave much thought to layering but now I will, especially with patterns. Pitti Uomo is someplace I've been aspiring to attend for years. One day I will get there 😀.
Some effective looks. Recently I was speaking with a guy in the elevator of my building who was wearing a beautiful camel coat over an off-white sweater --- reminded me how good that look can be, and he really pulled it off.

As someone who's been saying "sauce" for over 20 years. I think we need to shout out the Bay Area in California for the word's origin. Also, sauce and sprezzatura are pretty much interchangeable.
Don't get me wrong, I like people who are creative and try different things and have the confidence to wear that stuff like it would be a "normal" outfit but where in everyday live could you use many of those oufits with like 6 layers? During winter I even struggle with a normal shirt and jacket as it is way too hot in most offices those days and outside its still pretty cold so you need some sort of jacket/layer above your base layer. For me a good outfit is also something which you can wear in everyday situation without either freezing/sweating all the time.
After watching your commentary, I came up with a formula of suace. It's: (Item a+b+c+....+ physical attribute)/(# of items)*(authenticity + confidence + originality) Feel free to comment or correct it!

These folks look so out of place in Tuscany. If you are in Firenze on any given day the clothing is pretty calm. Most of the looks seem attention seeking and look ridiculous outside of a "fashion event." We know celebrities pay stylists, we know the truth about underpaid young people in the fashion industry. There is no glamour. Men with high end purses look silly, like they raided their mom's closet. The only time I like really crazy looks are older folks, 50s and 60s and beyond who either are professional artists or veteran fashion professionals. Cowboy Urkel? Uh no. There is a lot of projection in what you're guessing about these people. Workwear southwest vibe guy looks like every guy from San Diego to San Francisco. Even people in Reno dress like that. The fly fishing basket is, like what are you doing bro? Try less hard. Also rich people cosplaying as workers is just classist. Most of the sauce here is from a jar. We are entering the era of unfashion.
Sauce? Really? If you wanna talk style get off the labelling wagon. Pitti Uomo is a peacock parade; once in Florence, go to a museum, pay attention to the culture, enjoy the food and forget about Ego tripping.
