Nice job Andy! After 20 years of flat finishes on military aircraft and AFV kits, I think you've convinced me to try a gloss finish on a car kit.
Thanks for sharing this lovely model, excellent video quality as always!
Gorgeous kit! You can't go wrong with Tamiya!
great build and model. Love Ferrari and F1, I've gotta hit Circuit of Americas this year, just down the road for me.
Hello, I just wanted tell everyone the steering wheel has been fixed, just before filming I broke it off and put in what at the time thought was the right place. I realize it was to high and fixed it , but the video was already out.You can go to Mediocre modelers group on facebook and see the corrected position also join the group and show off your work .facebook.com/groups/1771720973126058/?ref=nf_target&fref=nf
Thanks for watching
Andy's Hobby Headquarters good to hear that. Awesome build sir, from your Malaysian viewer 😊
It looks really good Andy, I'll be in later this week to take a closer look. Thanks for sharing!
New Kit Details:
MSRP: $77.00
World Wide Release Date: Feb 20, 2018
Andy's Hobby Headquarters ...last time I used ts13 clear it attacked the decals and shriveled them up... How did you avoid that???
Richard By all means take Andy’s advice if different but the key is removing every bubble from the decals and to make sure they are perfectly flush. You’ve got to get the Mark Softer product. Works a charm. I’ve used TS13 on the 1980 1/12th Renault and none of the decals shrivelled up at all.
Jack Byrne, interesting point. I was under the impression that the decals were effected because the clear is hot..
I'll have to test it again..
Oh interesting thought. I had previously watched decals shrivel up when I first tried to apply TS13 (distressing event as you'd know well) but on that occasion I really didn't take the time to ensure the decals were super smooth, bubble free, and flush with the model. I'm sure you've thought of it but if you can try testing with some spare decals on spare pieces that would be best.
can't you beg them to put the kit out
Amazing job by Tamiya to give us a stunning kit of such a complicated machine. Beautiful.
The fit of this new kit is superb compared to older Tamiya F1 models.
Thanks for this video.
Build looks really good! Amazing detail! I can’t wait to build this!
Just stumbled upon this. MRC Tamiya makes THE best plastic model kits. Used to build them when I was a teenager. Glad you posted your project.
this is the first video of yours i have watch and wow ! i remember doing old 90's era scarlextric cars with water decals and how tricky they were to apply but you seem to be able to do them with ease so cool
Great build and a complicated one especialy the decals. I wanna thank you for trying different stuff because i was only building armour you made me want to try also cars and other models.
One of the Hardest builds! Very nice work!
Love the build.....beautiful! I'd love to see how you sanded the tires and polished between gloss coats though.
Awesome job! The Car looks amazing, and i love how the tires look! Forza Ferrari sempre!!!
Beautiful kit... I love it... Great job as usual Andy...
Amazing work and attention to detail. Phenomenal job sir.
The look on your face when the phone rang at the end of the intro.... priceless. =)
I'm a LEGO guy and I think what you have done here is pretty amazing. Thank you.
Hi Andy, great build of a great race car.
A heads up though, the over head camera should be all black on car number 5 and yellow/black on car number 7.
All the best and keep up the fantastic work you do!
So basiclly yellow for sebastian(no.2 Driver) and black for kimi
@@Vilphy37 other way around
well made ive been making 1/350 ship models with photo etched parts the whole time but im moving on to race cars !
It was so satisfying to watch, thanks man I'd unable to do this.
Absolutely beautiful! I like your hobby thanks for the video.
Oh Yes,i Love the new Kit! WOUNDERFULL Finish!!!
Definitely one for the stash and build collection this will go very well with my Ferrari F1 models .
You've nailed the passenger side decals so well, I want this kit
Fabulous finish. Nice work (as always!)
Omg this is amazing! Luv how you have scuffed the tyres :)
stunning detail - subbed :-) looking forward to going through your vids!
I’ve just finished this kit but with the 2017 Italian GP Ferrari 70th anniversary edition aftermarket decals with the new correct number, amazing kit and details even though for a model that does not have an engine
Nice build Andy,thanks for sharing.
Great build. Only thing I would mention is that Pirelli PZero f1 tyres have logos on both the inner and outer sidewalls.
the fin on the front is a pitot tube. It measures airspeed and is most commonly used in aircraft.
Great build Andy, that Ferrari looks great. I built Tamiya's Ferrari F2001 kit, it goes together just like the SF70H, very simple and fun to build. :D
Impressive!!! Help me look at this new F1 kits in a different light. They are intimidating, but you did a great job explaining the process.
Tamiya rocks they are the best in so many ways......that kit is absolutely stunning and I agree their sprays are awesome.....and in many cases you don't need to airbrush...even with their armor I have had great results.......
Awesome and super high quality video but I'd love to see more tamiya car builds
Wow, that is lovely, super build. Thank you
Amazing kit and build and awesome video! Also greetings from canada
I'm really liking the build, and it's a cool car.
Great build and video. You are a true pro.
well, I just bought one of these, hopefully it will come together as nicely as yours
fantastic job, well done.
Inspiring! Encouraging! Beautiful model!
Very well built! Thanks in advance by an italian modeler
Thanks Andy, more cars please!!
Hi Andy, great video. Looking forward to getting this model. Just on the large Ferrari decals on the cowling. On the top right of both decals there is a white line which is a continuation of the split between red and white on the main decal. When you take this I to account the decals match up on both sides, even though the instructions make it look like they don't match up. Pity there is no engine detail too; that would make it a complete model
Looks great! Thanks for making the video. Would like to see more video of you doing the work, not just recapping work done/to do. Like you did for the decal application on the rear wing.
Awesome.....hope to pick one up at the hobby show mid March
It's Oct finally have one on the way
The Ferrari GP car looks great,Andy. Tamiya leads the way in model engineering. I hope it's example gets model manufacturers to want to make and match Tamiya' s lead.
Great job and great model
Great build, should be number 7.
Andy, i love your ship biulding videos. And all of course. I would really likr to see you biuld the USS Missouri and the USS Arizona
Very nicely done
Looks awesome 👍
Absolutely love it. May get one myself. One thing I noticed: the left hand ray ban sticker is on at the wrong angle.
Thank you very much for sharing this. You’ve actually inspired us to start model building. Any suggestions for beginners on a quality product? We stopped at your video because of the Ferrari Formula One build.🎧
great stuff Andy!
Beautiful job 👍
It looks fantastic Andy, and I'm not even a fan of open wheelers. Would love to see you do a tutorial on using aerosols as my one and only attempt at trying them out many years ago was a bit of a disaster. ;) Keep em coming mate.
James C I too tried the Tamiya can many years ago with disaster being the result.....but.....I tried them recently on the Tamiya Panigale model and they worked wonderfully. The only issue was the fact that the aerosols do put quite a lot of paint out in a short period of time. Holding the can further away and painting in very short bursts solves the problem and the finish is perfect right out of the can. I know I would be hard pressed to get the same finish out of my airbrush without doing quite a bit of polishing. I guess the biggest problem is that the aerosols are VERY fumey. You do need good ventilation when using them and a mask.
trevorpom simple solution decant spray cans into 17ml plastic dropper bottles leave to deans then use in airbrush with mr Color 400 levelling thinner comes out beautiful and great coverage too 👍
Beautiful model and very well done! Ther's something strange with the steering wheel, seems a bit too high to me, it should almost disappear into the cockpit. Great model btw.
Very nice build
Beautiful!
Really nice! My only problem with this is that the steering wheel shouldn't pop out of the cockpit like that
i don't know what i'm here.... but it's awesome!
great, now i gotta get this kit and i haven't even gotten to my enzo still stuck on the f40 -.-
Smart move giving the price at the end Andy, lots of people would have bailed if you gave it in the beginning 😉 I'd like to build an F1 but, not $80 worth of like 😞 Nice Job on the build and love your channel 👍 Wish your store was in SW FL 😖
You have a nice hobby 👍
Прекрасная работа. Молодец.
Hi Andy, great video as always. How do you actually get rid of the leftover water marks from Tamiya Mark Fit Strong?
why it doesn't have Pirelli logos on the inner side tire? it looks off though
No build is over your head Andy!
Hi Andy question for you you painted with ts 26 ts 49 and ts 29 did you use any primer under the paint thank you for your help
I’m going to use your technique to paint my Tamiya FXX-K! The Tamiya number of the paint colors you used are the same callouts on the FXX-K instructions!👍🏼 Go figure. 😊
Hi Andy, loved your video on the Ferrari build. Can you do a video on spraycans, i tried to use a spraycan, but hopeless.
Great kit and great build as always.
Just one small mistake, Vettels car doesn't havê the yellow stripes on the top cameras.
Never miss one of your videos, thanks for taking the time and inspire.
Tommy Tosser In the box it was mentioned that it was Raikonnen's car if I'm not mistaken. I didn't watch the 2017 Formula 1 so I don't know exactly how the car looks, but that's maybe the reason why it has the yellow stripes.
It's No. 5, so it's Vettel.
Ah, my mistake then. Sorry for the lack of information on my side.
Good job
Very nice car and very nice build. The last good looking F1 Ferrari- before the Halo is introduced on March 25th 2018
Hi... Thanks for the video. I have a question for you. Can I use tamiya lacquer LP-7 or LP-21 instead of tamiya spray can TS-49?
Very cool
hi, just a question to ask,
how did you paint the floorboard or the engine cover? Tamiya Spray paint or Tamiya liquid paint with a brush?
Do the paints + painting instructions come along with the kit? Or is it jus your own undertaking?
I ordered some Marlboro water slide decals for my F2000 1:18 scale Hot Wheels, and was wondering if I should use Mark Fit on any part of the car? Some is diecast some is plastic. I didn't have plans on clear coating it because its going into an acrylic display case anyways.
How did you fix the step which was created by the thickness of the semigloss black paint over the red paint.
Great review! More cars, planes, bikes etc - please?
Colour - don't worry, colour balance on viewing computer screen affects.
No engine - so what? would only be disappointed if spec said it had one and it was not there.
These reviews certainly improve my skills and give a lot of help in choosing a kit to build.
Best of its kind on 'you tube'.
The led in the rear should't be red?
Can someone tell me which colors and so you have to order?
The three colors at the beginning of the video?
Great build! I'm looking forward to do this kit soon. How come there is no engine?
very interesting
awesome..
G'day Andy. Awesome video mate. One technique I'm confused by is how you apply more clear coats after you've attached the suspension arms? How do you mask off the suspension arms, the cockpit etc. because these are semi-gloss finishes yeah? Just a little confused about that process.
How would you approach the painting without an airbrush? With the bottom, just paint normally?
Hi Andy, thank for the video but too bad you didn’t demo to us how to use spray can to paint the car. At least we can learn some tricks from you.
Great video!
But I spotted a misplacement :P The steering wheel should be flash(height) with the sides of monocoque :)
The Scuderia ferrari logos are equal, bear in mind that on the right side of the logo there is a small arrow which sticks out, you cannot see it on the overhead shot.
Nice Build and job from you to put this together.
But the steering wheel looks a bit weird in his position. Usually the steering wheel is in the cockpit, not over the edge of the cockpit.
What tool kit did you use? What are all the required things for the build can you post links where to buy them. That will Really be helpful. Thanks.
Very nice. What do use to get the water marks off. After decaling.
