EDIT> IMPORTANT UPDATE W11 just sent these updates out 2025-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5050009) 2025-01 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 24H2 for x64 (KB5049622) Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display - 32.0.13013.2002 (if you have this) Performance increased in my system. Check yours! What do you think about the launch? Subscribe for more videos. Let me reiterate: I know this is EA. EA will have bugs, its expected. But theres two points that naturally come out of something being EA. 1 - If EA is supposed to be buggy, then the bugs need to be addressed, so should be the state of the EA itself, otherwise theres no relevant info for devs. Not everyone will be in discords or devs forums 2 - EA also means paid game. If its "full price" or not, its not relevant. The devs choose lower prices, not out of kindness, but as a way to balance risk aversion from consumers and bring them over. EAs essentially means, customers are paying beta testers. Things will improve, but will improve faster with relevant, fair and good faith criticism, which this video is doing. Cheers.
Its an early access, I like early access, I dont buy e.a., but I understand what it's for and the audience they're trying to attract, youtubers, they read the comments, and watch the videos. Unfortunately with that said, I think some have forgotten what an early access is, and expect too much. You did fine, and that's information that can be used to make improvements. When it comes to titles like Rennsport, who've done esports events, the expectations are higher. Then you got others like lmu who use early access only to be a complete game lol. Ac evo is doing it right, which is impressive. Others, I'm not so sure.
Not beeing able to use all content in terms of tracks and cars (of course multiplayer, special events etc. need to be online) is a big problem. But even worse is, there was no word about it to be found. I was sceptical (and didn't buy the game yet) since they announced it, because I also got disappointet in ACC. I mean, I love ACC but it's the official game for GT World series and we still didn't get all tracks and cars from the series. And as someone who was driving against AI a lot, it was a punch in the face, that they started changing things, without even bothering to add it to the patchnotes and than at one point completely ignored development of singleplayer content. I somewhat hoped, but also was afraid at the same time, they would fix the AI for EVO and let ACC die as it is, but at least they showed that in the EA Version AI is even worse.
That update also brings updated version of Microsoft Recall. It is spyware you can delete easily through CMD. RUclips search Remove Microsoft Recall, first 2:27 video.
I agree with your statement here but don’t we kinda already know all this about EA? I expect to see some issues & we clearly see them but the formula is clearly there imho. 2 main issues Kunos needs to fix immediately as promised at launch 1- Get online server in order to play proper as advertised 2- VR is something that should absolutely be working for those player bases. Other than those 2 main issues right now I’m okay with being a beta tester
pretty much, I knew something doesn't sit right to me the moment AC EVO first announced At least Nacon/KT Racing & Genki we're being upfront about what are their games are gonna be like (always online, MMO live service slop for TDUSC, and offline only experience for TXR '25)
Having recently replayed Gran Turismo 4, which had the very first multiplayer mode in its online beta, reminded me of how older titles used to have complete games in their offline modes, I was really hoping Kunos would go for something similar with EVO, as locking many features behind an internet connection really sucks.
I agree! A online timed leaderboard for example is ok, as it would be necessary, but ANY other content that could easily be on single player should be able to be played offline with no issues.
I think some of the irritation being reported comes from the fact that "Early Access" is now too broad of a term for what are several different types of Early Access launches, and people are getting a bit blindsided when they expect one and get the other. LMU for example was basically finished, just needed bug testing. DiRT Rally just needed more cars and tracks. ACEvo is a tech demo.
This. I don't only play simracing games so I experienced perfect early acces games like Satisfactory, Factorio and Manor Lords (1 dev ffs). Games that gave the players a nice playable and finished slice of the game and started adding content and/or modes to it. This is like dropping an alpha build into early acces and we have to be grateful for that (according to some fanboys). If they had given us only hot lapping right now on the 5 tracks and it worked great people would still be happy.
LMU had multiplayer from the early access ... even if it was broken for some people and wasn't for me, still doesn't invalidade this so called "early access" to make people pay for a game that isn't finished and can be like that for several years. Just like Rust that was on early access for several years. I got fooled with LMU but you can't fool me twice.
I dunno, as a VR user LMU definitely wasn't basically finished. I couldn't play it properly until quite recently. But - at least they didn't pretend VR was supported at launch unlike Kunos.
Given Kunos track record, I'd say go for it. They improve their games immensely over the years. But right now, Assetto Corsa with shader mod is better.
If it’s not good enough yet, don’t pay for it. I have no problem supporting them… once they pull out of the always online and “mod market” bullshit. I’ll buy every piece of DLC they ever offer under the conditions that they don’t force mods into their own paid market
I don't disagree with anything you've said in this video - it's all constructive feedback. That's what Early Access is really for and hopefully the devs at Kunos will address these things. Hopefully this will be the foundation of another great platform for mods like the original Assetto Corsa.
No early acces is not invented to drop off an alpha build. It is to present a working slice to the customers and then you start adding content/modes/features. People should stop mixing up early acces and alpha builds.
Thank you for mentioning the always-online requirement - not many people seem to be emphasising this. I was literally about to buy the game, then I read a few Steam reviews mentioning it.
I've had the pleasure of driving the MX-5 Cup car and damn, Kunos absolutely nailed the car. The suspension behavior and the braking feel is bang on, so I'm very much looking forward to what else they add as the game develops.
To be fair, nobody was thinking about "always online" back then. It was a big negative surprise to us all. I think this is the only way to avoid the mess with mods. Yes, for normal people with a packed schedule and no free time, mods are bad. For us, dedicated simracers, we can deal with it. But overall, I think wild west of AC mods would, in any other scenario / game, chase more people away, than attract them. Let's all calm down, check back in summer, and see what will be the state of the game.
driving feel is amazing but fps wasnt good at first lmao had 3 crashes in 10 minutes then did 2 laps fine and as i got past timer on the lap bang 1-5fps no joke menus wouldnt load this will be fixed of course but going to need a new pc for sure lmao
I bought the game seconds after release, not a single crash, no bugs for me..🤷♂️ And im sold too! Graphics, sounds and handling!😃 Cant wait for the open world tho😄
driving is awesone, main problem is fps, stability, a tons of bugs, polish'. i hope in one month it will be playable at 60 stable fps on most mid range systems.
@@instinktd this comment really is just bullshit. You really think they would build a game for it only to be usable with the 5000 series with DLSS 4? Its been out a day and you already burn it down lol. Have some faith dude. This called an alpha for a reason.
@@instinktd the optimization right now is wack, but not THAT wack. I got around 40 to 55 fps (depending on rain and how many cars in the track) with a 4060 and that's a crappy gpu as far as current-gen cards go (my gpu is also limited by PciE gen 3). There's a LOT of improvement to be made on optimization even without DLSS. I expect the final product to at least be able to run on medium settings on a 3060 or 4060 or B580 just fine.
The online only mode is quite simply a deal breaker for me. I simply cannot accept a single player game gated behind someone else's computer, that can shut down at any point. Unless they go back on this decision, I will not buy it. It is the same reason I never bought FM8, despite actually planning to originally.
There are good reasons for this IMO. And the benefits, if done right, could be huge. Kunos effectively decentralised AC and found a bunch of people making money that didn't work for them and brought in no revenue. I reckon they plan to tap into it. If they do it well, there are some win-win-win scenarios. But there are traps that range from win-dont-win-but-dont care to lose-lose-lose. This is an ambitious project. It's quite high risk but potentially high gain. And I don't just mean for KS bottom line. Fortunately they remain independent, and haven't been swallowed by a larger entity, so shareholder value isn't a worry. Thing is, If I made a game I'd have the same plans as them. Let's see how it pans out
@@iceniracing I simply can't view it as a positive when the online component is required to do basically anything of the singleplayer content. That simply means I can't play my single player game whenever there is a server outage, my internet connection doesn't work, or when they decide not to run their servers anymore. By my standards that negates every single positive aspect, as I said, I consider it a deal breaker.
I feel like the critique presented in this video is the most fair I have seen. I've seen a ton of people completely shitting on the game, for missing content, having the attitude that it's a scam, and that the devs are lazy liars. On the other hand, there's a large group of people, who excuse everything and are basically happy that the game runs and works. I feel like the game's start is exactly as the title says. It's messy. People have a right to be angry, because they DID promise a bunch of things and DID NOT deliver. And it's 32€ for what right now is pretty bare bones. But, seeing as the game is in early access and literally on version 0.1, to me the performance issues are kind of expected. So is a functional, but incredibly hard to understand UI. As for the missing features, I suspect they'll be added in the coming weeks/months. What I think is important is that the engine works. We've got good FFB, physics are great, the car models look amazing. There's just a lot of kinks to buff out. But there aren't any game breaking bugs or crashes or massive problems. Adding extra stuff or tweaking small parts should be a lot easier than having to fix major problems with the game engine. Basically a lot of the issues that are present are down to this being early access. We're essentially beta testing for the 1.0 release. That of course doesn't mean that the issues should be ignored. We need to point them out and provide feedback and i think this video does a good job of that.
^this. This is the point of Early Access. Letting players test the game on a wide range of hardware and give precious feedbacks to the dev team. In return you get to keep the game for the reduced price of Early Access. I did this with the first AC, buying it for cheap in EA and playing it a lot with lots of feedback. Then I got to keep it when 1.0 dropped at full price.
To prevent people who pirate the game, make the game worse for the people who paid for the game. Seems like a good idea, with the best of intentions. What could go wrong ?
Reminds me of how publishers justify Denuvo, it's terrible for paying customers. I'd rather pay for DRM free offline games than this BS. (I say that owning EVO, hope they fix this)
Yeah, when the original assetto corsa was in early acess I downloaded a pirate version to test (had no wheel, wanted to see if it was playable with a controller) and that made me buy the game (version 0.8) and all dlcs on launch.
@@Sam-sg9bo Not a good example XD. But that's a case of the 2hr steam limit not enough to test early access titles cause more often than not setup takes more time than that. I had this experience in ark survival evolved, I bought the game joined an server and it took more than 2 hrs to download the required files and found my pc can't handle the server my friends were playing in and I passed the 2 hr limit without even playing the game lol.
The core driving experience is there. I had tons of fun with the driving model. With that strong foundation, it will be exciting to see how the game develops.
One overlooked but small detail I would love to see added is AI moving out the way to break slipstream and AI blocking you as a defensive move at the corners. The Geoff Crammond F1 games had it, over a quarter a century ago. Really can't see why they don't implement it in sim racing games today.
The "always online" feature is already proving to be a problem. If every time the server goes down we have access to the game content cut off, well, that will be a big problem to be faced over and over again. If it's offline now, it could be tomorrow, at any moment. They should postpone the launch if the servers are offline. Regarding performance, this is another big problem. In racing simulators we usually use VR, triple monitors, high refresh rate monitors (I have a 240 Hz one). 60 fps can never be the performance target. Racing simulators have to be lightweight. And I'm not so confident that they will be able to solve all the performance problems.
or worse, we're just straight up no longer have access to games once they're finally done supporting the game years down on the line (The Crew 1, Ace Combat Infinity, M.A.G PS3)
@@adlibbed2138 Exactly why I refunded it straight away. It reminded me of Simcity, which also had a "always need internet connection" method. And that was only focussed on single player. Servers are down now and you are not able to play it.
It's a brand new engine. It's going to be shit for some time. But it probably was the right choice for this game at the time it was developed. Maybe they switch tracks. Happened once before
@ Always needing to be online is not an feature of a All new engine. It's just a check if you're connected to their server. They can bypass that or completely remove that check to always say "true". So you can just play everything offline.
I've bought in Early Acces simply because of the experience I got with AC1. There I also got in when it was bare bones but to see the game grow, develop and get better was kinda great. Got high hopes for this one, truly hope they can deliver and perhaps even more 🤞🏻
This was already an obvious outcome when the devs were tight lip about alof of info on the game. With a 3080, I rarely maintain 60 FPS on low settings at 720p. Optimization is the worst I've ever experienced.
I'm on a 7900XTX and I can't get any good performance out of it. Triple screen 1440p puts me at around 50 fps no matter how I change the settings. I tried it on single screen 1440p and that maxes out at 90fps no matter what I do. FSR is totally useless and looks like an absolute mess. I understand it is in early acces but you would think these things were tested before early acces launch.
@willfudge8131 yeah I hope so to. The recommended requirements has the RX 5600 on there so you should expect to get atleast 60fps from a better GPU like the 6600XT.
The graphics look a little flat to me, the lighting seems off. But if it plays well would be worth it overall I think (I do love the original). I'll bet my 970 would struggle though...
I found that the cars also drive worse than ac when driven over the limit, the cars are way more snappy and drives more similar to automobilista than the original ac.
All I remember is how was the first public demo of Assetto Corsa, the one you got when buying netKar Pro: One car, one track, one game mode (time trial) and not great visuals and performances. But, as always, gamers are always ready to whine about everything, it's become a norm to have flocks of people complaining about every new game.
@@TheRaazberry I experienced it, and to this day I wouldn't wish vanilla AC on my worst enemy. Mods and the community are what made AC a legendary title, the game is subpar on its own. So that leaves ACC, and that was a bad launch, too. This is 505 and Kunos's 3rd awful launch. Regardless of whether or not things end up okay in the end, why do people not understand they are just shooting themselves in the foot? If this, one of the most anticipated sims in years, released with more polish 8 months down the road, it would have made absolute waves in the community. As is, once again they've released with a whimper and mixed reception and that is going to inevitably hurt the 1.0 release, regardless of whether or not it "should".
Make sure you test it on a few pedal positions and get back here to report it with video prove. For now I will keep my tests made yesterday as private....
A major advisory to update this games version of DLSS to version 3.8.1. It both looks 10x better by removing most of the really bad ghosting but also boosted the performance on my 4070ti at 4K on some fairly optimized settings going from 70-85 up to 100-120fps .
For the Early Access, I don't care about the UI, the content, etc. What I am disappointed with is the VR support/render performance & the AI, since these to me are big parts of the fundamental base of the game. What I am happy with is the feeling of the driving. FFB needs work but after turning off the damping and spring effects it feels quite nice. Physics feel are weighty during understeer, good over curbs & detailed at the limit, though it could do with being a bit snappier and is vague around center compared to AC.
I booted the game up after the first small patch and I had no problems. I'm running a 7900xtx, 5800X3D, Samsung 980ssd and 32gb ram. I had 120 fps on high settings. The only odd thing I saw was some of the signs looked like TV static with a barely visible advertisement at the right angle.
I agreed with what you said, I'm content with what I've spent but I believe they have a lot to fix. I'm really looking forward to all the updates even though update .02 just made my game unplayable and stuck and the menu without UI. Played for 3 hours before and was looking forward for more.
Many people don't understand what "Early Access" fundamentaly means, they often think it's just not feature complete when it's a Beta with many bugs, especially in the first hours. By all means, if you expect a finished product then wait for the 1.0 release later or at least watch some videos or livestreams before you buy it (or buy it and refund it if you don't like what's already there). Giving feedback in this phase is necessary but the tone makes the music.
Still unsure if locking away other 14 cars behind the online requirement and other content is part of the fundamentals of the whole "Early Access" sheanigans
The question is will it be "complete" on release. Did kunos made of asetto corsa a complete car driving experience? No, the community did many years later.
I couldn't even get it to work on Fanatec DD Pro! And you should recommend to Kunos to bring back the Macca! Just show them the "please" 😊.. As soon as they get rid of the early access bugs, then we'll be racing Macca, Vs Macca. 👍👍👍
Am not meeting system requirements and running a hdd intead of ssd as required but Seems to be working well on my old i5 8600 bottlenecked by rtx 4060 .
Can you test if the car is glued to the road at very slow speeds? Like stop on a hill (neutral) and let go off the brakes, to see if the car rolls naturally
Ultra casual sim racer here. Mostly enjoy DCS world flight simulator. Was 50\50 on to buying into ACEvo early access or continue with AMS2. Looks like I will hold off on ACEvo. I have been playing with and enjoying a few of the new Custom FFB files of AMS2 1.6 and the free car Mods and tracks. I wish all the sims had better shimmer free AA. I have to use ReShade and SMAA with versions of TAA or CAA to blur out the distracting AA shimmer. I hate that shimmer.. I hate IT.. hate it... HATE IT! 😂. SUBSCRIBED.
I'm probably going to give it a few patches before I try it again. Triple screen just doesn't work properly for me yet, and it especially doesn't work with DLSS. Have to run it at DLAA to get it to display on all 3 screens and if you change the quality setting, the screen resolution decreases but doesn't stay full screen, just gets pushed off to the left side of the screen at what ever resolution its trying to display the game at
@randomcallsign hopefully they can sort it quickly. Seems like the DLSS is just displaying the internal resolution and not showing the full screen upscale.
There's a point I've seen very few people talking about: the engine sounds. I think they are very robotic on most of the cars and pretty disappointing if we compare them to the ones in ACC. Definitely the weirdest experience was on Bathurst with the S2000, the sound was fading a lot and then very loud in some parts of the track, it felt unnatural. All the other sounds though are amazing.
I’m not mad at these take on a new yet unfinished product, as long as this is communicated with the team at assetto corsa I support these needed changes as time goes on.
Quick takeaways from my short time on it last night Cars felt great( use of fanalabs with acc profiles was really beneficial and copying similar in game ffb slider settings from acc also helped dial in the feel) Quality of life features were nonexistent or broken (triple screen check did not work) ddos attack really killed their launch hype and that’s unfortunate but it also exposes the online only aspect that not many agree with. (Which is an old point as we as a society are always connected to the internet) Performance for me seemed okay, didn’t run AI yet on ultra default setting. Side note simhub updating quickly to add some minimal support really helped with the feel for me as I run bass shakers. I’ll need to dial in that still. ACC early access wasn’t great either and it became a very popular title. Going into early access should always be taken with a grain of salt and the hype was a bit overblown by other RUclipsrs/influencers and even the marketing.
Enjoying it a bit so far. Hoping that they add TrackIr support soon. Also hoping for the career stage 1 (and general online-ness) to be reactivated later today. Had some fun in the Golf though.
I feel like this is kinda close to what AMS2 was like at launch I don’t expect much from a game launch on Version 0.1. The devs really wanted the game to come out in 2024
yeah. and they could have another ddos at any time. how about the only content you lock behind an internet connection are the online multiplayer modes. fkn sick of this online only offline content bs. i thought better of kunos.
or worse, once Kunos we're done supporting AC EVO in favor to their next, shiny new genre defining sim racer, this game could ended up on the same inevitable fate as The Crew 1 and other "online required" games out there
@@adlibbed2138 exactly. its not good for gamers, or the artists that pour their heart and soul into games that cant be preserved. i still play plenty of old games, really old games. but only because someone else out their fought to preserve them. and luckily they dont require internet connections. im talking xbox 360/ ps3 games via emulators, im talking og xbox and ps2 games, ps1 games, n64 games, sega games, dos games. it sucks that a great game you paid for could be unplayable in such a short time because of artificially imposed limitations. software locks. paying customers should never have to suffer like this.
I did buy... It's a good deal for a sim that has a potential. My biggest disappointment at the moment... Damage model... The cars don't visibly dent, get scratched or show dirt build up. In my opinion that almost made me cancel. I want a sim that has polish and grit. For people with lower end PCs I recommend AMS2. It looks great, has tons of content, and runs well, and the devs continue to make it better.
I feel like this is favoring amd. My 6700xt is chilling, no fsr. Adjust settings you dont find necessry and go from there. Im at almost constant 60fps with a full roster of cars.
It's not a new graphics engine. They have taken AC engine and upgraded it. Graphics look very much like AC. It actually very disappointing in terms of ralism
they should shut down the online only stuff if they really want this game to leave any LASTING impression like Assetto Corsa. Otherwise, this game will vanish with the rest of the competiton
No, not exactly. Some games spend just a few months in EA, but lots of them spend years in it. It wasn't specifically designed for something. Expecially not that.
Thats right. But looking back at AMS2, LMU, and ACC early access it seems to me personally theat ACE EA is by far in the worst state at launch. Not to mention always online stuff.
What graphics do you recommend because I have a intel i5 9600K that I have overclocked and a RTX 2060 12GB that I have also overclocked I play on like medium-high and I get 70fps at least but when I do a race I get at least on average 45fps and that's with 9 opponents
I have a fanatec direct drive wheel. I was unable to bind the steering. The paddle shifters bound okay. I also have a set of heusinkveld pedals. I was able to bind the clutch and the brake. But it would not recognize my throttle ! So I was unable to do any driving all I could do was look at the menu very disappointing !!!!😢
you said you run a 4070, im on a 4070ti and in the lowest of settings I could not get it to even launch as I could only get 30fps. what are your graphics settings? if you are using a Fanatec wheel, can you also share the FFB setting? just so I can have a baseline. I'm frustrated at the moment.
They have a very potent game in their hands. Shame that they rushed the early access. I don't mind waiting a bit more to get at least what they promised in the beginning
How do you tell what type of transmissions the vehicle has? I was trying to figure that out last night because I wanted to try cars I could use with my h shifter. I eventually just figured the s2000 would and used that. But I’d like to be able to choose the cars based on what type of shifting I’d like to do
I remember I paid $40 to pre order the original AC, it was $40 in... 2013?? Didn't even get to play it until it came out. At least I got to play this one. And my data will be part of their development. And it was cheaper. I'm not angry about early access anymore. I signed up for it myself.
Good stuff For me - performance issues are scary with top of the line hardware struggling, modding kunos said might not be as open as ac1 and now people reporting that files are closed is disappointing, AI looks to be far behind ams2 or lmu level also disappoints.
i think this game have a lot of potential and its even fun on a gamepad but much better on a wheel, the main thing is in cocpit view the dash is kinda toy ish looking but that can only me.
For a early access racing game its mind blowing how good the actual driving is. They can fix the rest. If the driving would suck it would be a problem. Just needs a good multiplayer and mod support.
Looks like this is an identical launch as cyberpunk lmfao. And I was going to build a PC for this! I will stay with a more stable console game for a while. What an incredible disappointment. Imagine Rockstar releasing GTA with issues like this after years of promises LOL
they're R* so despite their most recent controversy related to modding, they have legions of militant fanboys ready to defend them from all sorts of criticism towards them
Don't you remember GTA launched without online and when online came it didn't work for months. Not only that but heists were not part of online for years so even rockstar have bad launches. Right or wrong, it's how even full release games release these days.
I mean this one's recently get a lot of flak online, especially by the fact that the vast majority of the content, including 15 other cars we're locked behind the online requirement, which having server problems rn
The FFB made me refund it. its terrible. T300RS (very mushy feeling) no detail at all. with core ultra 7 when i turned on dlss to qality it bmped up 20 fps at least. but yeah even with good physics and tire model its all pointless with terrible FFB.
just set all those in-game FFB damper/damping/filter slider to zero or near zero.... It feels alright with more powerful DD wheel, but for less powerful wheel and wheels with built-in mechanical damping (ie. belt/gear driven), it just too much and took all the response and detail away. I have to drop a significant amount of damping despite I'm using a 5nm DD wheel.
I must admit, i'm impressed at how smooth it is at 35fps, not joking, iracing at 35 is unplayable, here it's smooth. They should ad the possibility to lock fps in the menu, because it's making my CG way hotter than it need to be.
My take on the launch is the following: i am slightly disappointed. They announced certain features, like VR Support, Triple Screen Support, the academy, special events and economy as well as tracks and cars. The fact, that everything that comes with the online feature doenst work is sad, but something i can tolerate, as it is early access. Its annoying as the fun in the game is very limited right now, but i am patient and will wait for a solution. What i dont really understand is the state the UI is in. Its navigatable, but a pain in the ass to bind controls by device. I even have two tabs with the same name for my buttonbox, on one i have to bind rotaries and on the other i bind the buttons. Also when you announce VR Support and two of my mates with VR Headsets in the second they get into the main menu say, they have artefacts and 3 fps and cant really drive due to poor performance, expectations and reality are quite the mismatch. Graphically i am also quite underwhelmed. If i compare it to LMU, ACE is quite far off at this stage on my sytem. Overall the launch into early access was a bit underwhelming, due to unforseeable technical issues, the graphics/performance issues which are okay to be there in this state and the terrible UI/UX, which really should have been on the more polished side if you ask me. Lets hope they will be able to fix the server issues, so we can actually do something else than hotlapping. P.S.: Dont forget another terrible AI.
Great baseline for the game handling and force feedback wise, now imo they need to start first with fixing performance, then from there fix the graphical issues and other bugs, then actual improve AI, and then improve on what they have They better not go like Cities Skylines 2 devs, that kept on adding features and fixing bugs and performance stayed behind, meaning I get way Better performance on Cyberpunk than Cities Skylines 2
I get pretty bad frame time and stutter with a strange lag that slow the game at a point that its impossible to drive. I have posted a short video to demonstrate, i have a RX 6800 and a R7 5700x3d
soo a demo. We've all literally played free demos that are much more stable and playable. This should've been free with less content, and actually somewhat polished and playable. The amount of issues is just embarrassing, regardless of the early access labeling. Charging money for this was literally a fundraiser for them. They are, after all, a very small team.
Thanks for being honest with your review. I'm so frustrated with Kunos and game devs in general. They keep using DLSS to cover up their bad optimisations. You mention Jaggies. Which is funny because i noticed how we didn't see ANY OF THEM in their promo footage. Which set off my alarms. It looked like they used MFAA and a mixture of TAA. But now i know it was also DLSS. Which will produce it's on issues on sub 4k resolutions What have Kunos been doing all this time. They offer a sub par early access, then it's an unoptimized mess, with limit features, and janky UI's ect ect. I'm glad i stuck to my guns for EVO. This business model of drip feeding content because they haven't even done it yet is terrible. They want money from me but offer me a half baked struggle on my PC 😆 With the promise of a brighter future Why can't game devs build their product FIRST. Then come ask for money. All of this "help us generate money so we CAN build this game we told you about" is getting stale. And it just moves me to other games i have full access to. Including the 1st game.....
UI has never been Kunos' strong point. Even the UI in AC was shit, but I'm sure with some time, we'll get another content manager mod to speed up the process.
Never understood why a “unfinished early access” game is with a price tag…? If they want our feedback, just make it free or just 5 Euros or so… € 32 is not end of the world but losing money all starts with this mentality. If you count all the spent wasted money it adds a lot at the end of the day so I refunded because it was laggy as heck.
Because you then get to keep i for that lower price than final 1.0 release. I did the same thing with the first game, got it for cheap and kept it when it launched the 1.0 at full price.
Me personaly don't understand, why people are complaining about performance. I tested 20 car race with Mazda MX-5, my system is i7-14700kf and 4070s, on a 1080p ultra settings with DLAA i have about 90-100 fps. This is not so different from what i get from original AC or ACC. So for me performance is not that bad.
Once you get to the track, the game is quite fun. FFB is great out of the box. I've tried to change as little as possible to experience the game in its default state, but default gfx are not good on my mid range PC. Or not as good as GT7. Or even AC tbh. Not sure how, in this day and age, AI (the big thing lately everywhere) can be so trash. I mean, it's worse the AC and that's saying something.

Not everyone will be in discords or devs forums
2 - EA also means paid game.
2 main issues Kunos needs to fix immediately as promised at launch
1- Get online server in order to play proper as advertised
2- VR is something that should absolutely be working for those player bases.
Other than those 2 main issues right now I’m okay with being a beta tester
the server issues show why this online only stuff is bs
pretty much, I knew something doesn't sit right to me the moment AC EVO first announced
At least Nacon/KT Racing & Genki we're being upfront about what are their games are gonna be like (always online, MMO live service slop for TDUSC, and offline only experience for TXR '25)
Having recently replayed Gran Turismo 4, which had the very first multiplayer mode in its online beta, reminded me of how older titles used to have complete games in their offline modes, I was really hoping Kunos would go for something similar with EVO, as locking many features behind an internet connection really sucks.
absolutely agree. why should I be locked out of content I paid for when the servers are down?
I agree!
A online timed leaderboard for example is ok, as it would be necessary, but ANY other content that could easily be on single player should be able to be played offline with no issues.
Thought the same. Why are the squares black and white? I think is total bullshit they released it like this... i fell scammed
Yep, it feels like a demo for a game, not an early access.
But - at least they didn't pretend VR was supported at launch unlike Kunos.
tech demos are less buggy with better performance. otherwise spot on though and i get your point.
Isn't playing an Alpha early access or is that just earlier access
@ In this case it is too early acces 😅
Well said
Remember online only means data collection. Games have turned into a platform to vacuum data. Put these online only games in a vm and you will see.
Yup. Although what is done with the data is what counts. It remains to be seen what the full business model is...
Thank you for mentioning the always-online requirement - not many people seem to be emphasising this. I was literally about to buy the game, then I read a few Steam reviews mentioning it.
always online DRM = no purchase. simple as that.
I've had the pleasure of driving the MX-5 Cup car and damn, Kunos absolutely nailed the car. The suspension behavior and the braking feel is bang on, so I'm very much looking forward to what else they add as the game develops.
I think the RUclipsrs etc who interviewed Marco also dropped the ball a bit by not directly asking about the "always online" stuff.
I'll do what I did with ACC... wait a year and get it on sale on steam
I think I might just buy it this year. Super GT, Coach Dave, and Digit all give the title a thumbs up for it feeling like a sim and not a simcade.
The driving feel sold it for me. I’m not disappointed and don’t regret my EARLY ACCESS purchase especially knowing what’s coming
driving feel is amazing but fps wasnt good at first lmao had 3 crashes in 10 minutes then did 2 laps fine and as i got past timer on the lap bang 1-5fps no joke menus wouldnt load this will be fixed of course but going to need a new pc for sure lmao
@ I haven’t had any bad fps issues. I have a mid tier system so I never expect too much but it runs at a steady 55 fps which is fine for me
I bought the game seconds after release, not a single crash, no bugs for me..🤷♂️
And im sold too! Graphics, sounds and handling!😃
Cant wait for the open world tho😄
@@jaymillingtondanny-shineon2888 yeah the performance issues is like a loterry, I don't get it 😅
There's plenty of time for them to smooth it out. Not worried.
driving is awesone, main problem is fps, stability, a tons of bugs, polish'. i hope in one month it will be playable at 60 stable fps on most mid range systems.
month? more like year or maybe never for current systems, only for new gen GPU users on that DLSS 4 thing
I've seen alot of comments about low fps mines been fine with a mod range pc
@@ElShogoso Meanwhile ACC runs at a solid 120 locked on current gen cars with 50 AI cars. ACE can barely manage 40 with 4 AI.
@@iceniracingThe decentralized nature of AC also gave it immense sales numbers for Kunos
(I say that owning EVO, hope they fix this)
@iPuls3 I wish they change their mind, even tho I'm only interested in the multiplayer element of the game. It's just a bad experience for everyone.
Game was pirated in the firts hour lol
Always-online is egregious and has lost Kunos a returning customer.
I think the game started amazing. Its an early access . They addressed many things and will become so much better
Happened once before
@@adlibbed2138this game will need Kunos operated servers IMO, unless they decide to decentralise the serving of content somehow
Optimization is the worst I've ever experienced.
maybe because the earliest of early access was just released?
I'm on a 7900XTX and I can't get any good performance out of it. Triple screen 1440p puts me at around 50 fps no matter how I change the settings. I tried it on single screen 1440p and that maxes out at 90fps no matter what I do. FSR is totally useless and looks like an absolute mess. I understand it is in early acces but you would think these things were tested before early acces launch.
Getting less than 30 fps on a 6600 XT. Hopefully they will optimize for AMD GPUs.
@willfudge8131 yeah I hope so to. The recommended requirements has the RX 5600 on there so you should expect to get atleast 60fps from a better GPU like the 6600XT.
I average 120 FPS on the 7900xtx with a 5800X3d with a 1440 ultrawides on hight settings. Your bottleneck may not be your graphics card.
1440p on a triple screen setup is more pixels than 4k. 14,8 million vs 8 million on a 4k screen.
@ I know that triple 1440p is harder to run. That is why I switched triples of for this game and only use the centre monitor.
The graphics look a little flat to me, the lighting seems off. But if it plays well would be worth it overall I think (I do love the original). I'll bet my 970 would struggle though...
its the PPfilter being used. theres a few more to choose from.
I found that the cars also drive worse than ac when driven over the limit, the cars are way more snappy and drives more similar to automobilista than the original ac.
Old AC kept on a slide. Tyres react faster in this. the FWD are leagues above in ACEvo.
Weeeeeel... that's realistic. Cars gets snappy when driven over the limit, while being tame under it.
@ not nearly as much, I track my car it’s a mid engine sports car and I can drift it way more irl than the s2000 in ac evo.
I’ve been saying this too to people. I guess there’s only a handful of us that experienced AC early access back in 2013/2014.
@@TheRaazberrythis is for sure
It's always the loud ones complaining anyways, 90% of people are satisfied most likely
As is, once again they've released with a whimper and mixed reception and that is going to inevitably hurt the 1.0 release, regardless of whether or not it "should".
just based on one thing its not really properly simulated, the issue with gas pedal simulation is not fix since the first ac till now in Evo😢

AI seems better than AC, but not that fast indeed
vr support stages are included in the road map
Great video dude! I will try drifting the GR86 with Eco tyres today, thanks😊
This 100 percent. People already giving it shit when this is literally version 0.0.1.
Still unsure if locking away other 14 cars behind the online requirement and other content is part of the fundamentals of the whole "Early Access" sheanigans
It's not a beta, it's more like an alpha. Beta implies mostly completed but untested, I say this as a software engineer.
The question is will it be "complete" on release. Did kunos made of asetto corsa a complete car driving experience? No, the community did many years later.
@@iPuls3Pay 40$ to commit in alpha test? Great policy

Have to run it at DLAA to get it to display on all 3 screens and if you change the quality setting, the screen resolution decreases but doesn't stay full screen, just gets pushed off to the left side of the screen at what ever resolution its trying to display the game at
triple screen and VR should have better performcance in Release 2. The roadmap says its going to addressed next (hopefully its not too complicated)
@randomcallsign hopefully they can sort it quickly. Seems like the DLSS is just displaying the internal resolution and not showing the full screen upscale.
I have confidence it will be promising but im patient, so hopefully they dont just rush the actual release.
Quick takeaways from my short time on it last night
Cars felt great( use of fanalabs with acc profiles was really beneficial and copying similar in game ffb slider settings from acc also helped dial in the feel)
Quality of life features were nonexistent or broken (triple screen check did not work)
ddos attack really killed their launch hype and that’s unfortunate but it also exposes the online only aspect that not many agree with. (Which is an old point as we as a society are always connected to the internet)
Performance for me seemed okay, didn’t run AI yet on ultra default setting.
I’ll probably just come back to this game in October. I have hope

Hoping the DLSS issues will be fixed once Nvidia actually releases the drivers for it. Sometimes that can be the issue.
It's not a new graphics engine. They have taken AC engine and upgraded it. Graphics look very much like AC. It actually very disappointing in terms of ralism
nah, its a completely different thing
@@randomcallsignThat's marketing bulshit they want us to believe in. Reason plugins will be possible its because it is upgraded AC engine :)
no. its a completely different thing. AC does not render like this.
they should shut down the online only stuff if they really want this game to leave any LASTING impression like Assetto Corsa. Otherwise, this game will vanish with the rest of the competiton
As I understand it, Early Access was designed for something close to retail quality. What has been delivered is a Beta. Maybe I am misunderstanding?
What about that true force FFB setting? Does it work?
maybe for true force wheelbases
you said you run a 4070, im on a 4070ti and in the lowest of settings I could not get it to even launch as I could only get 30fps. what are your graphics settings? if you are using a Fanatec wheel, can you also share the FFB setting? just so I can have a baseline.
But I’d like to be able to choose the cars based on what type of shifting I’d like to do
I've had the game since release and haven't been able to get Online yet.. up in Canada if that matters
I remember I paid $40 to pre order the original AC, it was $40 in... 2013?? Didn't even get to play it until it came out.
At least I got to play this one. And my data will be part of their development. And it was cheaper. I'm not angry about early access anymore. I signed up for it myself.
happy to drive manual mx5 again after iracing made it into sq and removed ability to drive stick mx5
I like it so far. I'm able to play with my controller. Miles ahead of acc and ac 1 imho.
Good stuff
For me - performance issues are scary with top of the line hardware struggling, modding kunos said might not be as open as ac1 and now people reporting that files are closed is disappointing, AI looks to be far behind ams2 or lmu level also disappoints.
i think this game have a lot of potential and its even fun on a gamepad but much better on a wheel, the main thing is in cocpit view the dash is kinda toy ish looking but that can only me.
my shifter and handbrake didnt work
For a early access racing game its mind blowing how good the actual driving is.
The graphics look about as good as AC with mods 3 years ago.
Without all the jank! Worth the wait just for smooth experience. Ac1 is jank city, normal people don’t have time to endure the jank.
@@speedgoat7496 Wtf are you talking about "jank"? Complete nonsense
As long as it handles realistically it can look like Gran Turismo 4 for all I care.
Actual delulu, like wow
@@polesetter_01not really
Vr have huge quality and performance issues, triple also.
One positive is controller implementation is great, i test it in a hand held pc.
with gaming these days there is no such thing as a good laungh
I'll wait till the game is worthy of a purchase ..
I must admit, i'm impressed at how smooth it is at 35fps, not joking, iracing at 35 is unplayable, here it's smooth. They should ad the possibility to lock fps in the menu, because it's making my CG way hotter than it need to be.
Thank you. I am tired of game developers releasing paid betas.
If they had followed a similar UI approach to AC CM that would've been a real power move.
Somehow i get the feeling this won't be 100% better than AC
Great baseline for the game handling and force feedback wise, now imo they need to start first with fixing performance, then from there fix the graphical issues and other bugs, then actual improve AI, and then improve on what they have
They better not go like Cities Skylines 2 devs, that kept on adding features and fixing bugs and performance stayed behind, meaning I get way Better performance on Cyberpunk than Cities Skylines 2
My man how do you not have a more powerful PC with all that sweet very pricy sim equipment?
Why should I have it?
I get pretty bad frame time and stutter with a strange lag that slow the game at a point that its impossible to drive. I have posted a short video to demonstrate, i have a RX 6800 and a R7 5700x3d
It's Early Access/ beta testing!
soo a demo. We've all literally played free demos that are much more stable and playable. This should've been free with less content, and actually somewhat polished and playable. The amount of issues is just embarrassing, regardless of the early access labeling. Charging money for this was literally a fundraiser for them. They are, after all, a very small team.
@TheoFortin-e8j true. But, these people will get the full game when released.
I returned and got my money back. That’s what most should do if they complain that it’s so bad.
i like it so far, i think it will be very good when finished and mods come. But the rain effects don't do shit for me, i race only in dry weather.
Which will produce it's on issues on sub 4k resolutions
What have Kunos been doing all this time. They offer a sub par early access, then it's an unoptimized mess, with limit features, and janky UI's ect ect. I'm glad i stuck to my guns for EVO. This business model of drip feeding content because they haven't even done it yet is terrible. They want money from me but offer me a half baked struggle on my PC 😆 With the promise of a brighter future
Why can't game devs build their product FIRST. Then come ask for money. All of this "help us generate money so we CAN build this game we told you about" is getting stale. And it just moves me to other games i have full access to. Including the 1st game.....
I know it’s a very early version of the game, but it does feel ‘rushed’ in a way
I use DLAA and it looks great
The fwd cars are so fun
Give it time. It'll get there.
Well I'll let you know how it goes I have a ryzen 5 5600 G and radeon 5500 .... downloading it now
good luck playing haha
@Antidepressiva1980 wouldn't load a track .... 99% gpu usage under lowest settings
@ no surprise tbh
I've set the graphics same as yours on a 32:9 1440p screen (intel 10700k and 3080) and only get 40 fps. not great.
@ Clever move but how more expensive will it get you think ? Now 32 Euro and release how much …?
Thanks for the video
Me personaly don't understand, why people are complaining about performance. I tested 20 car race with Mazda MX-5, my system is i7-14700kf and 4070s, on a 1080p ultra settings with DLAA i have about 90-100 fps. This is not so different from what i get from original AC or ACC. So for me performance is not that bad.
Same here but 3440x1440 / 4070ti was hovering around 120fps high settings on dry track. Rain needs optimized, same race and settings 60fps.
It's just random, same configs can have different perfs, it's a typical new game problem and will be solved for sure
How will they make this operate on consoles though? I mean, I would fork over for a pc but if it runs good on console then no thanks.
you have a 4070 super and were only getting 90-100. damn time to upgrade for my 6700XT
