I love watching the videos they’re always very informative and helpful. Id love if you guys put chapters in the videos so I can see reviews of restaurants I’m reserving for my next trip!
Perhaps a cool little series you guys can do is diet specific "best dishes" you guys can recommend... Like gluten free, Paleo, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, Halal, etc.
I have a HUGE soft spot for Hollywood and Vine. I went in 2019 to celebrate getting my degree. I had BLAST meeting the characters, and unexpectedly cried when Goofy hugged me. I was embarrassed and he just hugged me again and it honestly was a magical moment for me. I love the fact they give you tickets for seating for Fantasmic too.
I had a great experience at Mama Melrose’s! Very accommodating for allergies too. But, we had a Tower of Terror lightning lane reservation right after this meal…definitely wasn’t great on the stomach!
I went to ronto roasters for the first time when I went to Disney world at the end of 2022. I got the ronto wrap & It was DELICIOUS. Definitely a must for anyone going to Hollywood studios in my opinion.
@@treytison1444 why would you even feel the need to say that. Of course we know it’s not ronto. It’s starwars/Disney not reality. I was just commenting that the specific menu item is definitely a must try.
I’m so glad you mentioned that the Sci-Fi diner is more about atmosphere than the food! The atmosphere is very cool! Maybe not so much with 2 young kids like us! 🥴 but the food and service was not a great experience for us personally! Hoping we just hit it on a bad day!
Since I toddler visiting with my family, we've made a tradition of visiting the Sci-Fi Drive In Theater. I'm happy to report that, while taking my partner to Disney World for their first time, I continued that tradition. Love the atmosphere, and the food is no slouch, imo.
Brown Derby is so excellent! We've been twice in recent years, and it easily beat every other restaurant in that park. The second time we went, we brought my mother and aunt, who had been to '50s Prime Time and Sci-Fi back in the '90s when I was a teenager. I told them - this time, we're taking you to the best place in this park, and they LOVED it. (Of course, they also loved every hotel restaurant we brought them to, but I'll keep this to a theme park comment!)
100%. I've not been for a good few years now (based in UK) but it was always the only in-park restaurant that was an absolute must. And while very expensive, it really feels as though you'd be paying that anywhere - meaning that there's less of a sense of "Disney tax" compared to the other eateries.
Backlot Express is the absolute best! Indoor seating is a plus (if you can find it), but the absolute best part about it is that you can fill up your water bottles with the good ice and water before you head back out to the heat. Cast members are also usually pretty great there- any time I've been with someone with a "celebrating" button on they've always made our experience super awesome. Glad it's getting some love here
I know exactly what you are talking about at Woody's Lunchbox. I absolutely love the food there and "sweat" it out (no pun intended) every time. I wish they would expand the seating because the food is worth it but with a family of 5 it is hard for us to find a table.
I am a solo older traveler and i love Hollywood and Vine. Partly it’s because i’m a sucker for characters. But i enjoy the food too. There are plenty of options on the buffet for someone with a limited diet.
We did not enjoy Round up rodeo at all last May. Something in the spice rub was off putting and the meat was way over cooked. Not something we will repeat and very surprised to see you put it at number 2. I think they just down sized the side options too and those were the best part of the meal. The overall theme and atmosphere was great though.
The great thing about Mama Melrose’s is that there is nothing down by the restaurant, so the area tends to feel deserted. The Muppet and Christmas store is gone so it feels so isolated and empty.
I took my mom to prime time on our mother daughter trip because she loves restaurants that have a shtick to them. The section we were in was just like we were in a normal restaurant. No antics and shenanigans. Meanwhile the section over was getting yelled at, having to do little tea pot and my mom was like wish we were in that section. I felt so bad.
I agee, The Hollywood Brown Derby is the best. I am one of those people who would put 50's Prime Time Cafe above Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. It has been over twenty years since I've been there, so I am sure the restaurants have changed. My favorite park to eat is Epcot. I never had gotten to Restaurant Marrakesh. I hope they reopen.
Not sure that I agree that Sci-Fi Diner takes a lot of time out of your day to experience. It doesn't take any more time than any other sit-down, and the clips shown on the screen repeat about every 30 or 40 minutes (I think). Not that you're missing out for missing some of what's playing on the screen!
Roundup Rodeo dropping half the side dishes recently kills the restaurant for me. Super sad about it, but it was so nice to have a *different* option style of food. Now it’s the same old same old.
Hollywood Brown Derby served us completely undercooked Salmon and instead of making a new one they just essentially heated up the one they gave us more and brought it back. For that price and considering how risky it is to serve undercooked Salmon I would never go back. They also weren’t even that apologetic about almost giving us food poisoning. Definitely not a number 1 pick for me.
Oh good gravy...Woody's Toy Box's seating area is hell on earth if it's hot. There's already precious little shade in Toy Story Land and almost NONE of it is at the quick service. The food may be great but...yeah. AVOID in the hot part of the day for most of the year IMO. I felt dehydrated and sweaty as you were saying it, AJ! I have to disagree a LITTLE on Catalina Eddie's and possibly Pizza Rizzo - the gluten free pizzas are NOT the fluffy ones and they are quite good. That probably isn't enough to completely redeem them, but it was evening and cooling off - and we enjoyed it.
Hollywood Brown Derby is hit or miss. I had a great meal that a couple of years ago and couldn't wait to go back. We returned in 2023, the food was meh and service was downright bad. It's clear those servers have one goal: turn those tables as quickly as possible. That's it. Our server was quite 'short' with us and seemed annoyed that we were there. I'm not sure if we'll be back. Might try the lounge. As for Woody's, I've had good luck getting a mid-morning breakfast tots (delicious!) easily with lots of seating. Most of the food is available for breakfast, I believe.
YES the lack of seating at Woody’s lunchbox is the worst! When you’re hot and hungry and your feet hurt, the only open tables you can find are those small, standing tables! I just want to sit down!!!
We ate at the Ronto Wrap place and it was great for quick food. Also had Brown Derby and the food was really good, our waiter, not so much. Kinda brought the whole experience down a notch. He was short and acted rushed while at our table, yet talked and chatted up others around us.
Absolutely true, I got food poisoning too. I tell people I know who are going to WDW to avoid sci fi dine in like the plague. I had been so excited about going to it on my honeymoon but it was awful.
This is hands down worst restaurant in Disney. Excluding Disney springs. I can’t believe it outranked prime time. I’m in utter shock. This place is gross bland and not worth a penny.

It's just a place to "check out" for a while and goodness you need that in Disney sometimes.
Went on a family vacation a few years ago and we spent 1 day in Hollywood studios; when we got our food at woody’s lunch box later in the afternoon (not even peak lunch or dinner time) it was so crowded we were instructed by cast members to keep an eye on people who looked like they were finishing their food and sort of hover there to swoop in and grab their seats the second they left 😂
Can anyone tell me if they have visual menus at the restaurants? My Daughter is non verbal, and sometimes easier to figure out what she wants with a visual menu
Spot on about Woody's Lunch Box. The only shot you have at getting a place to sit is if you hover over someone and snag their spot the second they get up and leave. Its Disney's version of adult musical chairs.
Oh, trying to find a seat at Woody's Lunch Box is ridiculous. But the food IS great, especially the mini pop tarts! And did I mention I LOVE Sci Fi Dine In? So good. And I actually prefer the picnic tables.
I agree that ABC Commisary has improved. But the kids menu didn’t work for us so we had to get Pizza Rizzo and bring it to ABC. Would be great to have a basic like a hamburger or chicken tenders like it used to be in the kids menu.
It depends on the restaurant! Signature restaurants like Hollywood Brown Derby change their menus more frequently to reflect seasonality, but Quick Service restaurants should stay the same. Overall things should be the same with a few specialty seasonal options added on
If Syfy drive-in was number five and back lot, Xpress was fourth you skipped three and then put Roundup rodeo barbecue as two and brown derby is one. What was number three?
I was very surprised by ABC Commissary, the shrimp tacos I had were absolutely delicious and my fiancee loved her gf chicken sandwich, plus there were delicious seasonal drinks! I'll definitely go back! I will gladly brave the Woody's Lunchbox crowd for totchos every time 😅
Mama Melrose's looks like it is based on LA's Miceli's Pizzeria. An LA favorite Italian restaurant famous for their singing servers and not far from Disney Studios.
Me and my fiance love pizzarizzo. We love the salad you get and we genuinely like the pizza. Going disney again in May and I guarantee we are going pizzarizzo again
Putting Backlot so high up (ESPECIALLY over the new ABC Commissary menu) is a wild choice - especially when you wrap it up with “but don’t get the burgers” knowing that burgers make up a major portion of the menu, including those “more interesting” options you mentioned. Girl??? Hello??
Nostalgia hit. It's one of the only places left that feels like MGM. There, Indy and Mamma Melrose are pretty much all that's left now that give you a hit of what it felt like in the late 80s and early 90s and Backlot Express more than either of those gives a sense of something that was lost a long, long, long time ago: ie. The original Backlot Tour that lasted ages, the heavy featuring of Roger Rabbit, the sense of it being a real Studio. And as the video says, it's from a different era of imagineering ethos: the commitment is to authenticity of what it is supposed to be, rather than spectacle. I don't agree with the placing but I get it.
My prob with all the sunset ranch quick services is the squirrels that kept trying to get our food. They jumped on our stroller several times. Was cute at first then the cleaning staff had to help us with their brooms to shoo them away! Ha ha Maybe it was just the time we went? C
I’ll keep that in mind! I’m not vegan but I’m autistic and meat textures are a no go for me on bad days so I really do love trying vegetarian and vegan food! Just bumped this up a spot for me lol
i wanted to try 50s prime time soon but my question is about the fried chicken i've had chicken at hollywood that did'nt state it was spicy and it was, my question is does the chicken there have any spice to it or is it just plain fried chicken?
I gotta say compared to the other parks, even Hollywoods best seems to be lackluster to some of the other parks mid-tier. Maybe its because its hard for me to imagine eating heavy food in your typical Florida day, and BBQ, fried chicken, pizza, etc really seem to turn my stomach in the opposite way.
See I liked the food at 50s Prime Time a lot better than the food at Sci-Fi, but I do like the atmosphere at Sci-Fi better. I can imagine it's a personal preference. I'm planning to take my family to Mama Melrose in part because I want to get us the Fantasmic package and not have to worry about camping out later in the day, so I'm hoping we're there on a good day. Everything you post from there LOOKS good.
Sci Fi should be ahead of Backlot Express...in my opinion. We try for Sci Fi every trip, milkshakes take the show for the family! We have been to 50's Prime Time and although I enjoyed the food and atmosphere....kids did not!! I have one that doesn't like loud or the scolding and she prefers eating what she wants..no veggies on vacation! LOL When kids were young and Mama Melrose was new (the chef came out to greet us, and ask how we were enjoying our meal.. magical moment for us)!! The food was exceptional and a must go every trip!!! Sadly...later when we went again, it was AWFUL and we haven't been back (would LOVE to see this place go back to the way it was, because it was amazing!) Also...Skipper Canteen started off as a must visit and although the menu is the same, the food is definitely not!! I went solo there on my 3rd visit and got what my daughter had ordered last time (I tried hers and LOVED IT!!!)...NOT THE SAME DISH!! "Tastes like Chicken" Because it is! Dry, bland, and cold chicken strips now (was juicy flavorful breast 1st 2 times we visited) the rest of it was just nasty and the food wasn't hot....keep in mind previous visits were EXCELLENT!! When daughter mentioned to a friend what I said...her friend went in to get his favorite dish (the noodles) and he didn't like it at all, it wasn't the same as he had previously enjoyed!
Brown Derby doesn't have the free range chicken ala king anymore hasn't for quite awhile it was the best and I miss it keep changing the chicken dish and nothing has come close!
I was wondering if PizzeRizzo would like to do something special for the 45th anniversary of The Muppet Movie and the 10th anniversary of Muppets Most Wanted. I am a hardcore Muppets fan
I love 50’s prime time. It’s the best sit down. In general, I find Hollywood to be my least favorite park. It’s way too hot in the summer due to the lack of shade. I do love Mickeys railway.I wish this ride was in the magic kingdom.
Mama Melrose is just not good. Been twice, and the food is so bland and just not tasty. Service is also very inconsistent. I would never eat there again.
I would more to have you tell us all about the food and rate only on the food. If you’re in Disney you should EXPECT CROWDS AND lack of seating and HEAT! As much as I love your videos they confuse me because I have watched one where you like a restaurant in another don’t. Please don’t take this as rude just feedback.
I may be of the minority, but I find the lunch box tarts at Woody’s Lunch Box to be very dry and boring. The tachos were really good but my family was unimpressed with the tart.
I know it's explained as to why it's not included, but I think you can really make a big snack/small meal out of several of options at Baseline Tap House. Just don't want anyone watching this who hasn't been to HS to look that over as an option!
Yikes wouldn’t put sci fi in top five. Ate there and the food was horrible and made my husband and I sick. Also they stick you with strangers which I’m not at all comfortable with. Prime time and mama Melrose would be in top five for me.
I love watching the videos they’re always very informative and helpful. Id love if you guys put chapters in the videos so I can see reviews of restaurants I’m reserving for my next trip!
Why would she do that? She’s paid literally the longer people watch
oh look they added chapters...............@@BeeDenver

8:53 the Poke bowl was not it. I wanted to be 1000% immersed in Galaxy’s Edge but no thank you. WAY too under seasoned
We LOOOVE Backlot express lol
Brown Derby doesn't have the free range chicken ala king anymore hasn't for quite awhile it was the best and I miss it keep changing the chicken dish and nothing has come close!
They also quit serving what I considered the best item they've ever served - the oyster brie soup. That stuff was to die for.
Love me some Backlot Express!!!
I love 50's PrimeTime! I can find my birthday on one of the calendars (including the year!) -- and the food is OK too.
Sci-Fi is the only place I've ever had an Oreo milkshake (yum!) or even seen one on a menu, and the video is great nostalgia!
Totally agree on Brown Derby. I would go to Studios just to eat there...
Since I don't ride the scary stuff anymore, it's a half day for me.
Aj is totally right on Woodys Lunch Box. Midday, all of Toy Story land is just PACKED and very hot.
I must be a kid (not surprised really) because I like the 'puffy' pizza :D
Basically if you wanna get a good meal without breaking the bank go to Backlot Express
I had the worse meal I have ever eaten at the Hollywood Brown Derby. We waited 2 hrs to be seated and we had reservations. It was awful. Never again
hey, I liked the meatball sub. YOU DONT HAVE TO GET A PUFFY PIZZA!
I love puffy pizzas since I am a crust lover!
Hollywood and vine is the only character meal where breakfast isn’t worth it.
Mama melrose is ..deidre hall??? Omg 😮
📝bring food.
I know it's explained as to why it's not included, but I think you can really make a big snack/small meal out of several of options at Baseline Tap House. Just don't want anyone watching this who hasn't been to HS to look that over as an option!
"Lady, you said it all."
Yikes wouldn’t put sci fi in top five. Ate there and the food was horrible and made my husband and I sick. Also they stick you with strangers which I’m not at all comfortable with. Prime time and mama Melrose would be in top five for me.
Was it just me or was there only a Top 4 rather than Top 5? Did I miss something?
Lmao ABC and Backlot are way toooo high!! No way!
9/10 for Backlot? The same burgers and fries you can find all over Disney? Come on live a little.
The atmosphere, and the little bit of decoration there is what makes it better than others. Its way more than burgers and fries
justice for pizzerizzo
