- Tips for house siding. This home has two types of siding, shiplap cedar wood siding and T1-11 panel siding. We pre-stain the siding before installation, especially the shiplap, we also prep the nails and vents.
Of course before installation first you want to Wrap the house with Tyvek,
We have two teams working on the house siding. Team one is working on shiplap siding, One man is focused on cutting, while the installers give him measurements. The grooves in the shiplap siding, those are to prevent warping or cupping during the board's expansion and contraction.
What's great about shiplap siding is that individual boards can be replaced if need be without having to take them all out as you would with tongue and Grove siding.
When installing, start from the bottom and work your way up. Make sure your first board is perfectly leveled, without any crowning or sagging down the middle.
Do not overdrive your nails, set your nail gun to the proper pressure, finish off with a hammer if needed.
In regards to the T1-11 panel siding, Z metal flashing is used in the seems when the panels are stacked.

T-111 is super underrated. I love that stuff.
When I see a remodel that has Tyvek there is usually mold on the low areas. I don't think it lets enough air through to allow drying from bad weather.
What do you think about that?
I wonder why isnt the wall ventilated?
I agree with the owner. I like that light grey color it’s beautiful.
Wait…. Did u put the ship lap over one layer of tyvec paper and nailed directly on the paper??? Uhhh 😬
I see all sorts of issues here.
Hater?
