Morakniv Kansbol Review (Absolute BEST Mora for the money?)

- The Morakniv Kansbol: could it be the absolute best Mora for the money? With Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, a hard 90 degree spine, a dual grind (Scandi to Flat) and a comfortable, cushioned, anti-slip handle that performs even in wet and cold conditions it certainly has a lot going for it right out of the gate. Add to all this a reasonable price tag of around $35 USD (closer to $50 with the upgraded MOLLE Multi-Mount Sheath) and it’s a whole different ball game. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced medium-duty companion knife built for daily use with strength to take some abuse (without abusing your wallet), you’ll want to watch this video.

Looking for a new Mora but you're on a REALLY tight budget? Check out our video on The Morakniv Basic 511! ruclips.net/video/2gYRv67LK-8/видео.html
I have several handcrafted blades who cost me upwards 200 bucks and yet I still finding myself carrying the Kansbol more often. A stellar knife! great review, subbed!
It has certainly become my go-to companion knife, and one I recommend often to hikers, campers & bushcrafters. Much like you it's the one that I just keep coming back to. Thanks for watching, and for the sub!
I own and use a Mora Kansbol, and I'm very impressed with it for its design, functionality and durability.
I have 5 Mora's already, now I want another one! Great video my brother!
Bema Seat Outdoors you’re welcome... or maybe I’m sorry... haha! Either way enjoy your new knife when you get one! 😉
Lol, I like that bass-line you had in the background while demonstrating this knife it really got my subwoofer jamming
Also mention the mora multi mount that you can buy with the cansbol and garberg
I have the kansbol with the multi-mount sheath, I like this knife, feels good in my hand
The Kansbol is the best knife for hiking and outdoor use. It is a great wood carver but also works great for cleaning fish or cutting food. And that profile grind is fantastic for so many things.
Have owned Bark River and Fallkniven but sold them all and kept my Mora 2000 and later the Kansbol.
Fun fact: the Mora 2000 is the standard issue knife for Swedish soldiers since the 1990’s. I don’t know if the army is switching to the Kansbol yet, but the green default colour of the Kansbol makes me think that is the case.
Great video! Well done. I’ve been a mora companion guy for years. Just started using the Kansobol it a joy to use! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for watching!
Great review. I think this the first review of this knife that I have seen. It looks good, it's affordable and I like the versatility of the sheath as well. I do not own a Mora but would like to pick one up some day so this is one I will definitely consider. Thanks for sharing.
NCA, If you're going to get your first Mora this is definitely the one I would recommend. A great all-around knife.
very cool knife brother . very important to have a good knife in the bush for sure . god bless
Yes the knive has a lot going for it .i like mine .all moras to.its goes well.
People who turn a perfectly good knife into a ferro rod striker and wood splitter need their heads examined . Spend weeks or months in the outdoors where ones life depends on a good butchering and wood tool making knife and you'll dump the idea of a sharp spine which is horribly uncomfortable for butchering and doing fine wood work .
IMO - If an individual can wear a fixed blade on their belt , they can wear a small pouch with contents for starting fires = common book matches - Zippo lighter and a ferro rod for backup .
I like your video and thanks from AK . Lefty
Quantum Mechanic
A common reason people use a ferro rod is to have more of a “primitive” experience, an experience that a lighter (which is of course a quicker way to start a fire) can’t offer. Sure, if a ferro rod is just for backup or emergencies, a lighter is probably more efficient. However, when it comes to a knife, some people just want to use it as a tool, while others enjoy polishing it and treating it like an edge. I’d say it’s two different purposes, and while I personally use a small hatchet for kindling, I have a knife I’d like to keep pretty, and another cheaper one I wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty from striking a ferro rod. Kinda like how you’d use a hammer for nails, but you wouldn’t mind using a less expensive hammer to bend something for a particular purpose.
One observation: that plastic clip on other Mora sheaths, like the Companion, won't come off your belt even if you tried to remove it, you often have to remove your belt to take the sheath off.
Very true. I struggle to unclip my companion sheath from my belt... takes two hands and some time.. no way will that unclip by accident, unless it was just clipped to your pocket
It's easy! Just ensure the 'ramp' at the base of the clip lifts over the edge of belt. Simple as that. I think it is perfect and would prefer if available on the Kansbol.
@@Surv1ve_Thrive Yeah, I like the fact that it's so secure, too, my point was that lots of people seem to (unjustifiably) think otherwise and consider it a poor sheath because it can come off too easily/accidentally - which is not true.
As for lifting the ramp at the base of the clip over your belt - that's common sense, BUT it's not as easy as it may sound - I have a hard time doing it and it requires both hands to do it - but I like it that way, I don't need to remove the sheath until I get home, and I prefer to know it's secure.
The blue Mora Eldris would look good with that jacket.
It is a pretty close color match now that you mention it, haha! Thanks for watching! :)
It's actually a great little knife.
Had mine a few months now and am impressed with it, it was really sharp when I got it's now super sharp after stropping it and sharp enough to shave with. Good all round knife for those on a budget, I paid £26 GBP for mine.
The Kansbol is an awesome back up knife, I keep one in my Haversack kit. I seen lot's of reviews on it before I pulled the trigger, I've beat on this this knife( Within reasonable limitations) It did every task that was asked of it, and it might as well be full tang.
It's definitely still one of my favorites, just a nice, comfortable all-around camp knife. Even when I'm carrying a larger knife as well I find myself opting for this one anytime I'm doing smaller tasks.
I have always been using Swedish Mora for more than 30years
But i have never seen this knife before it looks pretty darn awesome
Extremely more efficient than all these Bowie knifes that weigh 500 + gram
Good for fishing,hunting etc
This is one of my personal favorite knives, and it sees the most use out of my collection. Thanks for watching 👍
This looks like it was a mighty fine knife for sure. And Mora has always made great knives for the money. By the way North Country Adventures sent me by and I have subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
2:35. That's odd. I have the orange color Kansbol. The side diamond pattern panels are not soft or squishy as the RUclips states in this video.
Another Great gear review! Sounds like a great knife. Thanks ! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Very comprehensive review. Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback, & thanks for watching! 👍
Great video. Really impressed with mora knives and nice to find an affordable knife not made in China. Got a 106 wood carving knife and companion with a Kansbol in the mail. The steel keeps a wicked edge. Think the other great thing about these is that it is a work horse and cheap enough to replace if you had to. Let's face it, why take an expensive custom damascus steel knife out there to potentially get banged up when a mora will pretty much out perform it and be easier to maintain.
I hear ya, thanks for watching 👍
looks like a solid knife forsure good review good job on the coffee as well
Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
One of my favorite knives. Mora is the best imo for value and quality.
Great video! You sold me with this knife!
No problem Joseph, it's one of my personal favorites and I certainly don't think you'll regret it if you decide to get one. Thanks for watching!
The Kansbol is the best sub $30 fixed blade currently available with the Mora 2000 a close second.
Yeah Kansbol and 2000 are the best. Sometimes I prefer the 2000 over the Kansbol. The 2000 handle is a bit better in reverse grip and the full rubber handle is better in very wet or slippery conditions. I also think the more polished blade on the 2000 is possibly more hygienic because it’s easier to clean. The soft spine on the 2000 is easier on the thumb when carving. But the Kansbol has a better sheath system and the sharpened spine has its advantages.
cabelas has them on sale right now for $23.99.
Nice 👍
I have to confess, I own a few other knives which are more expensive but the Kansbol is the one with me on most outings. However, I do not use it in place of an axe or saw.
Hope you get a chance to check out the GPS HK5 or Adventurer models. Great knives. Only ones I’d say that compare to mora in the bang for your buck department. More is still the king of that, but they are worth trying.
I have the Mora 2000 which looks like this knife with a different handle.
I have the 2000 as well and the Kansbol is no improvement . The 2000 is one of the best large and small game butchering knives . And no - I don't use mine for a freaking ferro rod striker .
That's my coffee of choice with the Hazelnut.
I’ve been wanting to get one of these for a while, but I can’t justify the price over the companion. I ordered a companion and craft line for less than the price of 1 of these... one day I may get it, but I would rather get 2 companions than one of these
When resharpening, do you leave the micro bevel or take it to a more true scandi?
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info and the Links 👍

Awesome, we're glad to have you! Thanks for watching!
One day their making LL Cool J and Samuel L Jackson hat's and the next their making cheap plastic blades with steel sourced from a Swedish furniture company.
This is the worst knife ive ever bought, its so bad.
Ok, but why tell us more
@@TanginaRubinstein of all the knives I've owned it's not truly sharpe. If anything its dangerous based on the fact it's not sharpe enough. I wouldnt reccomend it for fine work with meat or skinning hides and it makes a mess of fish cutting, The only thing I've found this knife to shine at is in brute tasks like to baton wood it works well, it chops basic veggies fairly well if you use it for cooking at camp. The handle could use some improving it does get a little slick when wet which can also pose risk of injury a better material for the handle or even a nice finger hold that would lock your hand in place better would help. Not a fan and wouldnt reccomend to a friend or hunter. I would how ever reccomend this knife for your basic Instagram bushcrafter
@@TineyGrouse thank you for the answer :)
ampedisthename
What? It’s a razor sharp knife and very easy to sharpen too. Fantastic knife for the outdoors.
