This comet was promoted as the 'comet of the century' for the last 6 months. Turns out, you really can't see it with the naked eye. This year, I got pictures of the total eclipse, a tornado and I experienced and earthquake. Was hoping for pictures of a comet, but as usual, the comet was underwhelming. I really needed a good telescope.
Great video Stephen. You did a great job taking the photos. Good luck for the next few days. This is very interesting. Always learning something new. Thank you very much. See you in the next one. Mildred. xxx
Yehh Stephen well done. Great catch. Congratulations 👏 on more subscribers too. You deserve it. Love all your vlogs, and looking forward to receiving my calendar. Thanks again you're a ⭐ star. Take care till next time.😊x
Evening Stephen, well done on that, thanks for the information, did you catch the spacex rocket launch and capture, amazing what they are able to do nowadays. Thanks again, cheers.
I think you’re a hero trying for the comet from Blackpool prom of all places! I was at the top of Aughton Hill and could see the Tower colour changes but, alas, no comet. Let’s hope for better weather, clearer skies and hope the full moon doesn’t spoil the fun. Astrogeezer, Southport
Some of our members of Croydon Astronomical Society, managed to observe it Saturday from RAF Kenley airfield which is quite flat 500 feet up. Afterwards they observed the aurora either on the airfield or at our observatory nearby. We had quite a few members of the public in attendance
I think I saw it yesterday at 6:09 pm, which was when I took the picture, so it was there for some time before I took it, and when I was going to take the photo, it was going down into the tree lines, it never did reach it, because after that, it quickly faded away. Today, at 6:25 p.m., I took another picture of something like the comet, and this time, it was going up. I took another, and then took a 23 second video of said thing in the western sky before Venus in the southwest and Arcturus in the northwes were ever visible. It was also facing the different direction. This probably was a jet, but both tails were full and didn't have any separation. When this thing was moving up, it didn't seem to fade into the horizon to a point where I wouldn't be able to see it anymore. That would have been a plane as it's easy to tell. It had to be the comet both times as it never stood in the sky for a long time. I went back inside, for quite some time and after it dissappeared. The first time it faded out right in front of me, something a plane would never do in a fixed spot in the sky, stars, the sun, and the moon will when we rotate on the Earth's axis and orbit around the sun. I'm gonna see if it's going to be the same deal tomorrow because it's to damn hard to think about. I was waiting to see Comet Ison back in 2013 on Thanksgiving night before it obliterated into the sun.
Hi there! I live in Greece and I managed to see the comet last night on the 13th. It is a naked eye comet but for me it was visible around 40-50mins after the sunset. However, as you said it is quite small. I shot it at 600mm with not good atmospheric conditions and it doesn’t look that great. I might try again but people should not delay that much because we are a few days before the full moon so the night sky is becoming very very bright.
wowzers .... impossible astroimaging conditions and YOU STILL NAILED IT. Most of us would look through our windows and say "nah... too windy , too cloudy and too rainy" and not even try to grab an image of a comet or anything else except ducks, frogs or stormy seas. WELL DONE mate....
Thanks Stephen, i took some pics Saturday night as I was off out, didn't see anything at the time, just gone over them again and lol, there it is, a faint smudge, but its there, thanks for posting the vid, which made me review them again 👍
It's Monday morning and I photographed it last night about an hour after sunset. It was more towards the North than they said it would be. It was also out later than they said it would be. I could make it out with the naked eye along with the tail. And I was able to photograph it with my phone. 3-second exposure in night mode on an Android.
Tried to spot the comet tonight (17th Oct) I tried at first (unsuccessfully) with the naked eye and then used a pair of 7x50 binoculars. This was at approximately 19.20 hours. I took my time and studied the sky in the area between Arcturus and Venus. Even though I had a clear view of the west and south west horizon with both Venus and Arcturus to act as guideposts, I just couldn’t see it. I can only assume that I was looking at the wrong part of the sky, or the comet has dimmed considerably since emerging in the evening sky. Anyone else managed to observe it tonight?
I think it could be due to the strong moonlight from the full moon. I couldn’t see it either, but we also had quite a lot of cloud in the way where we were.
Nope your vid doesn’t help me ! Im not a stargazer ! I live in North London , we’re do I look North south East west , at what time of day ? …. Sunrise / sunset ? ….can you advise ! .. if have binoculars… came across your vid by chance ! Anyway thanks for talking about it
Look west or southwest after sunset...use binoculars for best view. Theres a vid on RUclips somewhere showing each position it will be until around the 18th when it's not visible anymore but each night it will be higher in the sky. I'm going to try to look the next night we have clear sky.

Love the videos Stephen
We've had blanket cloud so far on every night so still haven't captured the comet on film. Great photos though, thanks for showing them to us. 💫

I did see that. Amazing.
Stephen have you captured something as well at about 2.38 into the video something shoots across the sky from behind the windmill . ?
Probably light flare.
Well done Stephen. Looks like it survived it's trip around the sun. Hopefully we we all get a good view over the next week.
Thanks Leon. We will wait and see.
Well done on getting that photo!
It's been solid cloud here near the horizon, but your story gives me hope.
Thanks Ruth.
Well done on catching the comet not an easy task in those conditions especially with those clouds around as well. Great shot.

You do see some wierd things in the sky if you watch look up long enough. I saw a whole bunch of Starlink satellites last night.
Thanks for this video Stephen, very interesting I’m learning a lot watching your videos …..
Glad you enjoyed it Peter
What an amazing picture having caught the comet makes it really special thank you Stephen 😀
That's great stephen managing to capture the comet
Thanks Stephen the information
I got the tiniest glimpse through my binoculars before the clouds covered it up in South uist lol. It's been cloudy since.
Thanks for sharing Stephen. Let's hope the weather is kind.
It wasn't very kind when I was attempting to photograph the comet. Hopefully more chances this week.
Well done Stephen, you should be proud of yourself. Xxxx
Thanks Jean.
Well done Stephen, I’ve been waiting but the weather in Horwich has been way too cloudy. Will keep looking out though, good luck
Thanks Brian.

Thanks for letting me know how you got on.
Weather has been terrible here in Bolton. Hoping I get a chance in the next few days to see it and perhaps grab some photos of it.

Thanks pal.
Definitely a great piece of "lucky Imaging" Stephen, you deserved that for being out in those conditions. Well done.
Thanks Kevin
Beautiful good job ❤❤❤
Fantastic photo, incredible, had love to do photos, but means going out, hi up,to even see any views, and wouldn't show up my camara
Same here in the states. Too windy and cloudy. I had my 600mm. I got nothing.
Lucky photo at the worst possible location and conditions.
Good shooting Steve.
Thanks Jay.
Very nice comet update 😄
Nice catch! I caught a glimpse through binoculars with clouds. Hopefully twilight clear skies this week. 🙂
Good to hear.
I saw the comet tonight it was quit bright but set 6:58 mountain time so still light out.

Excellent
Well done Stephen, you must be well chuffed.
Tonight was too cloudy for me, fingers crossed for tomorrow :)
I bet I won't see owt when I'm there next week lol
I love astronomy but I hate staying up late or getting up early . RUclips lets me enjoy it without the pain lol
It's no good if you are not an insomniac.
It is visible naked eye if the sky is clear. Thanks Stephen
Not sure, but I think there is a good chance if you catch it this week.
Recently subscribed, great video 👏
