    There's a much newer version of Mypal out now that was released back in August, which is version 68. Version 29.3.0 was the last release before the author was forced to stop by the people behind the Pale Moon browser, which is what Mypal used to be based off of. The newer version is based off of Firefox Quantum.

    The error is because IE 6.0 does not support SSL 2.1 and the certificates are expired.

    he user-agent is what it tells servers it is, nothing else. You could probably still set it to anything (within a limited length). A lot of servers filter or redirect based on it.

      I snatched an old emachine from ebay for nostalgia and it has an authentic key activated on it from the early 2000s I used to use an emachine in our trailer when Windows 7 was still in service when there wasn't a lot going on with intense modern gaming it can play SOME games because it has an NVIDIA GPU on it I turned my modern PC into a Steam Machine so I'm still getting service on Steam with SteamOS and I might make the emachine my main computer I don't care if it's EoL you can use it for a lifetime if you just want a computer for basic tasks and most MMORPGs also run off Windows still anyway without the embedded version of Chome you might be lucky to play SOME games from the early 2000s if you don't like modern games which are just remakes lately.

    Opera 9.5 or 9.64, or Firefox may still have legacy versions available .

    The only reason these browsers are more or less useless is because the security certificates are outdated. On the Commodore Amiga you can even still use outdated browsers because someone maintains the SSL certificates in a separate program which are released every few months.

    I have an old Toshiba Laptop running Windows XP. I use Firefox 52.9 to run websites. My recommendation is to upgrade windows XP to Service pack 3 (or 2) so it supports Firefox 52.9. This version of Firefox does support most (but not all) website formats. However, it tends to crash during the loading process (especially when using an ad blocker).

    Firefox works fine on XP, it tells you once it’s ancient and unsupported, click ok & off you go..

      I don’t know man, some of the websites I used with Mypal didn’t work with FireFox last time I had an XP machine up and running.

      Maybe in VM or in their ancient retro setup for nostalgia

      I would say most are using it because there are hundreds of great games from that era, I recently built myself a Pentium 4 machine that dual boots into Windows 98 and XP for that purpose. The reason why you would want a working browser is to access sites to download these games, useful utilities, and drivers. I don't think many if any would try using such a machine for everyday stuff like email, shopping, banking, social media etc, and for security reasons that's probably not a very good idea.

    How do you dualboot windows xp and 98 but both dosent had bootmgr.exe?

    • @pierangler
      @pierangler  Год назад +5

      The process starts with installing Windows 98. During Windows 98 setup you must partition the hard drive with 2 partitions. Complete the installation of Windows 98 on one of the partitions. Then, begin the XP install. During the XP install, you will be asked where to install the OS. Choose the other partition. XP will set up the dual boot automatically.

    You literally cannot even get on 4chan anymore with any XP era browsers. How is IE 8 perfectly sufficient for browsing a simple image board in 2009 but IE 11 isnt in 2022?

      Internet Explorer 8 used to be a solid browser for on the web before XP’s discontinuation in 2014. Though using it with the ActiveX controls was just as secure as using Flash Player.
