He's just so perfectly shit and good at the same time.
YES! I live overseas and was trying to explain this to a mate the other day. He was like "Maaaaaaan, if his stats aren't good why would you like him? A player can't be goon and shit at the same time"! I nearly knocked the c*** out.
So much respect for Ameobi, you'll never see him in the papers for doing something he shouldn't, he is a classic model professional. Stuck with Newcastle from when they got relegated to now. Its a shame there aren't many players with the same attitude as Shola in football today. He is a very special man. Btw this is all coming from an Arsenal fan.

There is a lot of talent out there, but there is very very little loyalty. We can all relate to Shola because he plays for the club he loves. He is the only player in our team who understands the true passion of this club being both a fan and a player.

great vid. in 03/04 we had a guy who was developing really well and scored a decent amount coming in for bellamy. then we signed kluivert and he hardly got a shoe-in. not saying he'd have won england caps or anything but he could have been more. still, he's going to go down fondly in the history books. cult hero, love the bloke.

Im glad somebody put the effort in to produce this, it pisses me off when toon fans criticise Shola, Hes progressivley got better every season, fought back from injury, was massive in our promotion. and last season he was literally perfect. I watched every game and cant recall one error from the lad. SO so so so so underrated its unbelievable, even by his own fans. I always want him to do well aswell, because of his links to Sir Bobby bringing him through as a youngster. Sir Bobby is proud. RIP

You just have to love Shola Ameobi. Newcastle have had plenty of great strikers down the years from Alan Shearer and Peter Beardsley, and perhaps Shola's scoring record isn't too fantastic but for Newcastle at the minute there isn't a player more proud to wear these colours, and there isn't a player who will fight harder for Newcastle than Shola Ameobi

Shola is a better player than he gets credit for. Not a striker who is going to bang in 20 a season, but as a strong, support striker who is going to bully the opposition, he's effective. Good technically too.
Past his prime? Ameobi is currently in his prime. Everytime he comes off the bench now, he is fantastic!

Gotta give ameobi credit for sticking around aslong as he has despite never really being first choice except in championship. Also has he ever missed a pen? He's unreal at burying those maybe better record than shearer at converting them

His record when fit is pretty impressive, it's just a shame that he's had so many injuries throughout his career and specifically early on. He always gives his all, gets stuck in and can finish like a champ. A great man. It's unfair that he's butt of many jokes.

Wasn’t shown the level of respect that he deserved. Lovely guy who was happy to play his part. Behind some very good strikers in the squad so sometimes vilified for not being as good as shearer or Bellamy.
