Hasbin Hotel is more of the book of Genesis and Lilith is a figure from Judaism. She was known as Adam‘s first wife, but there’s a lot of story there’s like a lot of versions of it but one of them is that she didn’t want to sit beneath Adam during sex and believed, since they were made out of the same thing, they were equals so she fled the garden and had Adriel‘s children if she didn’t return to the garden, the angels that were signed to bring her back would kill 100 of our children every day she did go back so eventually she went back, but she realized what she saw. Adam had a new wife and in the middle of the night she got seed and became the mother of demons. later on, she became a figure for Jewish femininity, and before that she was what everyone blamed for miscarriages or child death so people would put swords underneath their child’s beds to keep her away
Unfortunately I didn't know about this story when I was starting my redesigns. I want to make a video dedicated to Lilith when we get more information about what she's like in Hazbin cause I have no idea how they're going to adapt that story
@@ajthewildwolf my personal headcanon is that due to Adam and Lilith both being designed to be rulers over creation, the two of them both had overinflated egos to the point that they were constantly quarreling with each other, neither of them willing to compromise, until Lilith either got fed up and left or was led away by a certain snekky boi, thus leading the Angels to replace her with Eve (and possibly make Eve a *bit* more compliant in order to prevent the same thing from happening again).

There was just so much material to work with these two it's sad we don't get to see more of it being used in the show😭 i know it's a re-imagination of the events of the christian mithology, but it doesn't change the fact that a LOT was just erased if not joked abt(like Eve being mentioned only twice and one of those times being a JOKE)
Let’s be honest, if they pulled anymore from the Bible while still keeping the main premise the same, the amount of backlash the show would get would mean it would never exist past the pilot :P

I have the same mixed feeling as you did. As much as I was surprised that Adam is going to be the villain, I don’t like how they butchered him. Like whenever I see him in Hazbin Hotel, I was like ‘This is not the Adam I know from the Bible’ plus the cursing part made me feel disappointed, ngl. I get Viv wanted to see another perspective of ‘Heaven is also bad’ but I would love to minimise the swear words.
I think Lilith was a whole character made from one line in the book of Genesis, correct me if I'm wrong , her lore is that she refused to bow down to adam , flew away , Adam was sad so three angels were sent to get her back , she didn't want to come back so they said they'd kill a hundred of her children each day and it gets longer and longer but it's the introduction

On one hand, he does look like a stock white guy. He's kinda boring. BUT! There is something compelling about Adam clinging to his humanity, that the first man to ever live keeps looking human, hanging on to that aspect of his identity so firmly, while every other virtuous soul in heaven has discarded it.
Love your designs btw, even if in my heart, I know Adam has a tummy. it can be muscle (think Laios from Dungeon Menshi) or a beer gut, but my heart knows it to be true.
Honestly, canon Adam's face has really grown on me. In different art styles I think he looks really cute. I kinda wish I had kept the tummy but I think in my AU Adam would get battle ready when Vaggie falls and the first angel body is discovered. If he had it his way though I think both he and Eve would be chunky. They're cavemen, being chunky to them is a sign of success

I also forgot to mention that I took the mouths off of their masks so the angels don't look sadistic anymore. I wanted to set a clear distinction between angels and the citizens of hell. Demons and sinners kill cause they want to, angels kill because they were ordered to. For them there isn't supposed to be any emotion in the action, it just is

Actually, technically speaking. Lilith was erased from the bible at some point, and when she was a part of the bible Eve was created from I believe one of Adam's ribs. So, Lilith has every right to be in this story. However, I do wonder if Eve ended up in Hell because of this one Lucifer quote, "Well your first wife didn't seem to mind what I had to offer... Or the second." So, while I can agree that Eve should have gotten at least a little more screen time, I respect Vivzie's take on the mythology.
I actually just found out that some people interpret a first wife as having existed before Eve from a very small line that goes "and god created them in his own image, male and female." Personally I don't think this means that there was another wife but I do find it interesting. I think Lilith should still be in the story, I'm just not a huge fan of the way she's in it right now and I'm scared they're going to pull another Stolas's ex-wife again.
@@ajthewildwolfthis is actually very true and it’s also the reason why the gnostics added Lilith centuries after the New Testament and millennia after the Old Testament, Lilith was never canonical in Talmud nor in the bible and she’s basically medieval fan fiction because the gnostics took that line from the Genesis literally instead of taking it as a Metaphor

Lilith is part of Jewish mythology, it is essentially just fanfic mythos. It isn't Actual scripture. It'd be like saying that, because some Jews made tales about certain demons with random names, that should be part of the Bible. Eve is explicitly the first woman in Genesis.

I'll be honest, I liked Adam being a bit fat, it was a nice change of pace. That said, your lore is much better, and the swearing is frustratingly juvenile
I do also like the idea of him being chubby. I'm thinking that maybe for the majority of his time in heaven he was chubby but after that angel was killed, he and his army trained up to be actual battle ready just in case

It actually astounds me how much bible fan content has been coming out recently. Not in the "you should convert" type way, just love letters to it and it makes me so happy. I love seeing my culture celebrated.

The best thing to come out of Hazbin Hotel is all the Christian fanart. I feel like our culture is finally being celebrated for the first time in a long long time. It's not that we've been oppressed or marginalized or anything, it just feels like there hasn't been room to be proud of our culture and history in a while

Yes. I don't mind the sex thing, the problem is that he's doing outside the bonds of marraige. Being married to whoever you're doing it with is literally one of the biggest and most important rules. Even taking lives can sometimes be justified but sex outside of marraige never is.

I like to imagine eve and Adam sing so close is that they refuse to be separated. Kind of like a paranoia that if they’re separated, something bad will happen to one of them. This could root from kane and Abel, the fact they were separated from them, and they don’t want that to happen again.

Yes! I'm making an animatic of them and I make a clear point of separating them when Lucifer comes to tempt Eve. They're horribly paranoid that if they're ever separated again that it will leave room for the devil to come tempt them

And for the Adam doing like countless sex things in heaven, he was designed to reproduce in incredibly fast details so I can’t blame that part of his personality. He was designed to be the first human and to reproduce quickly with Eve.

Agreed, from the limited parts of the episodes I watched on RUclips I did think it was a little bit odd that Adam had such a human face compared to the other angels. I like his redesigned face! It looks angelic and the scars make sense, Adam’s the first man and he’s been around for a really long while and he's also an exorcist so it makes sense for him to have picked up some scars over time. I love the way you redesigned his horns too, they look sharp and really cool, and the yellow rings instead of the yellow sharp tips look really nice!

I like your analysis of Adam, I did find it weird that Eve wasn’t brought up more, especially since she was supposed to be Adam’s wife(unless they're going to talk about her more in the next season), and all the sleeping around that Adam does didn’t make much sense. I understand that maybe that characterization of him was supposed to show us early on in the season that angels aren’t the paradigm of morality in the show, and how sinners aren’t always irredeemable. It could have been an attempt to early on show that the divide between heaven and hell had shades of gray and wasn’t just black and white, but the sleeping around didn’t really make sense with the god complex he had about the descendants thing(at least from what I know about the story, I still need to watch most of the episodes)
I like your rewrite of Adam and Eve, that would be really adorable and make a lot of sense! I like how you made them the perfect match for the other in both their design and in their writing, the wings being larger for Adam and smaller for Eve, and them not being able to have their wings out at the same time due to their fighting style is a really, really cool worldbuilding detail! Treating them as one character unified in purpose makes for a very interesting antagonist, and it would be really cool to see the protagonists have to figure out how to separate them to actually defeat them. (I love it when two characters know each other so well and care about each other so much that they seem like they’re acting as one entity, but it’s really just because they know each other so well.)
For the motivation, I didn’t think about that at first, but tricking Adam and Eve into eating the fruit is a really good motivation for them to hate Lucifer! Being tricked into bringing death to all humans to ever live would absolutely cause a grudge, and it gives the two of them a legitimate motivation to want to get revenge on Lucifer(with Charlie being caught in the crossfire of that grudge).
Cain and Abel! Even if it turned out that Lucifer in the show didn’t tell Cain to kill Abel, it would make sense why two grieving parents would blame him for it, even more so because he had tricked them before too. That gives Adam and Eve both a reason to hate Charlie because she’s Lucifer’s daughter and in their eyes Lucifer was the one who tricked their son into murdering their other son. I like the idea of them playing on the paranoia of Heaven has towards sinners and Hell because they don’t trust Charlie, instead of Adam just refusing to stop the exterminations because he’s a jerk.(and the idea of exterminations being a mercy killing in their eyes adds a whole new level of depth(and emotion) into their motivations. Imagine if they were to find out that sinners could be genuinely redeemed, I would guess that would be a *lot* for them to have to get through emotionally.)
I agree, I like Hazbin Hotel a lot and I am very interested in seeing where it goes in season two, but it definitely could be more emotionally complex than it is, and making the antagonists have more depth to them would make it even more interesting to watch the main cast struggle to redeem sinners and get past the paranoia Heaven holds for them. It would be interesting to see how Charlie would get through Adam and Eve’s extreme bias against her, and if she would manage to do it or if she would have to bypass Adam and Eve completely and go to the higher ups instead because of their grudge and distrust towards her(and then later on have to tackle their bias against her).

Also, I love the art! Adam and Eve in the final art are adorable together! They look so happy and your designs for them are amazing, Adam’s wings look so soft and pretty. The pink shading works so well with their color palettes, and their color palettes really compliment each other nicely. Both their body language and expressions in the final art show that they love each other, which is really awesome and really well done!

I'd argue Adam is *fairly* well written, if you view things from what his perspective may be. I don't quite think you really understand the points of the show, as when you said its worldbuilding is terrible such as Adam not knowing how he got into heaven, I'd say that's *good* world building, as it proves the corruption/confusion within even heaven itself, as the angels themselves don't know what gets them into heaven, allowing for deeper reasoning to be provided. As the first man and the first man to go to *heaven*, his hatred for sinners can be explained, as he sees that if *he* made it to heaven, and his *descendants* don't, they're clearly lesser than him and didn't deserve the lives they got. His god complex could be explained both with him being naturally prideful, as was Lilith (who didn't "replace" Eve, as she was actually a real character/figure within some versions of the bible, as Adam's first wife who disobeyed him), but unlike Lilith, whose pride came in the form of simply wanting to be treated as an equal, Adam's pride came in the form of self proclaimed superiority. For his god complex as well, it can be that, with a mix of him both being the first man, and being the first man *in heaven*, with him being in heaven giving him the automatic idea that "Oh, i'm in heaven, so I must've done *something right* to get here, right? I *must* be better than everyone else than.". And with him saying "I've never made a mistake in my f#cking life.", that phrase felt like he was being genuine to himself, as if he did believe it, which would make sense, as even though he's in heaven, he's done so much wrong, yet *being* in heaven gives him the idea that everything he's doing is *right*, since he's *still* in heaven, not hell.
Just my opinion though, I think Hazbin's worldbuilding is good (not great, but not 'terrible'), as well as Adam's character, as it leaves a lot to interpret, as well as a lot to ponder. I hope he gets brought back in season 2 or 3 as a sinner to join the hazbin hotel, not just for his funny personality, but for the possibility of expanding on his character, and him being genuinely humbled. He was so bad, yet viewed himself as in the right, so him waking up as a sinner would be a *massive* reality check, and if he really did redeem himself by the end, that would be one of the *ultimate* ways to prove sinners can be truly redeemed, as for Sir Pentious, he simply was *already* a pretty good guy, just misunderstood. For *Adam* to redeem himself, that would tell both Charlie *and* heaven, that not only are the angels not all perfect, but that not all demons are absolute evil.
I still disagree. I think the rules of how to actually get into heaven not being known is massively stupid. It literally contradicts the shows own description of heaven. We learn multiple times both in the opening narration and from Lucifer himself that they have a lot of rules. The reveal of there actually being no rules completely contradicts that and is mega dumb. Also, just being prideful doesn't make you kill people. Killing anything is such an extreme thing to do, you're not going to do it just because you think you're better than someone. Just look at any real world example of racism fueled murder. Thinking you're better than a group of people is only one tiny factor, you still need an actual motive like believing the other group of people to be a threat to you, the people you love, or society in general. An example of this would be bigots believing that trans people are predators and a danger to women. A lot of violence against trans people is done because of that belief. It would've taken an extremely minor amount of tweaking to make Adam kill because he thinks it's the right thing to do instead of just something he enjoys doing, but we didn't get that
@@ajthewildwolf The first reason, I'd still disagree, but agree to disagree, but for Adam, his reason to kill was the fact that he *already* viewed himself as superior, viewed sinners as disgusting, but beforehand didn't have anything to do about it, *until* Sera came to him with the extermination idea. Which it'd make most sense if she made the idea, as Adam would clearly not be smart enough to make that idea. So essentially, it's like giving someone with already bigoted ideas *power.* Now they have this hate, and they have the power to *act* on it. He had nothing to hold him back, no one to tell him he was in the wrong, and had all that natural pride mixed in. It's almost a Homelander situation.

@@ajthewildwolf Back, and while I still stand by my same opinion, I *would* do things differently if *I* had to write Hazbin. Instead of Adam, I'd give the personality they gave him to *Able*. I'd still keep *bits* of Adam's misogynistic personality, but I'd make it that it's less like he's outright evil, and more like he's just... from a different time, which makes sense. For Able, him having Hazbin Hotel Adam's personality would make sense, because I *doubt* Cain made it to heaven, so he's probably a sinner. As such, Able would see his brother in *every* sinner, explaining his distain for them. For his god complex, instead of being the first man like Adam, Able was essentially the favorite child of *God himself,* so that's a reason. And with it being that way, Lute could still be a character, but she'd work for Able, the lead Exterminator, while Adam could still have Eve, and probably *oversee* the Exterminators, instead of Sera.

@@huntersmith1943 I get that, I just don't think that entertainment value alone would be a strong enough motivation by itself for him to keep fighting after Charlie manages to actually hurt him for the first time. Especially when the show goes out of its way to characterize him as a bitch the whole time
@@ajthewildwolf after him getting harmed I can see the problems with motivation unless both wives went to hell and that motivation would explain why eve isn’t in heaven and why he would continue fighting after lucifer gets involved but that does require an assumption based on lack of evidence
@@huntersmith1943 Yeah that's what I think. He has so many potential motivations but they're all thrown away for jokes in the show. It would've been really easy to at least hint towards Adam caring about Lucifer stealing his wives on a deeper level than just as a threat to his masculinity but they didn't do that.
Also I feel like I've said this a dozen times by now, but I think that Adam's canon personality would work *so much better* if it was applied to Samson.
In the Bible, Samson was...well, he's practically 1-1 with how Adam is in the show. He's irreverent, he doesn't listen to his superiors very well, he's definitely the kind of guy who'd want to bed any woman he personally finds attractive, and he has a *bit* of a history of massacring sinners in life at the slightest provocation.
-he literally killed a bunch of guys because some dudes cheated to answer his riddle-
Heck, it'd even make sense for him to hate sinners so much because from his point of view, sinners did nothing but make his life worse.
it was sinners that cheated his riddle forcing him to give them clothes, it was sinners that caused him to be separated from his first wife, it was sinners that *killed* his first wife along with her entire family, it was sinners-including his SECOND wife-that tricked him into revealing his weakness, leading to his eyes being gouged out and him being forced to perform for their amusement, after which he brought their temple down on himself and all of them.
After all of this, he may very well view all sinners-and perhaps to a lesser extent, all women-the exact same way, and view the exterminations as justified if for no other reason than because of his perpetual desire for *revenge.*

while i like the show and the villains in particular too, your redesing does show the problems vivzie has with characters and story telling, while i disagree with the world building part since viv does built her worlds but most of the information that we have about them is from viv's tweets and livestreams some of which can be highly outdated too and of course helluva boss, of course we arent gonna get much information on heaven, adam or the angels in HH and HB since their focused on hell so i cant really blame that on vivzie, is like expecting an author or creator to have infomation about all little things on their shows or books, or my likely take on that vivzie didnt want to reveal too much in season 1 since the show was picked up for a second season, and for me thats when we are gonna get more info about heaven and the whole of the pride ring since the focus of the first season was the hotel and the upcomming extermination which they handle well for the number of episodes they got which aint much
I'm not on Twitter so I don't know any world building that isn't in her two shows. If it's not in the show then it doesn't count meaning the world building is still bad. It really doesn't matter how good your concept is if it doesn't come across in the actual art, which is unfortunate.
@@ajthewildwolf most of the world building vivzie did where on her livestreams, like saying hells got a no hurting kids rule like a jail, things that could appear on the show and things that may never appear on it, for me is like a comic or game for a popular franchise a spin off too, like we see with said star wars the clone wars, which is cannon to the old movies, or with transformers prime and the preschool show they would do that are cannon to the shows, not every author or creator can fit their whole idea of world building specially not in 8 episodes if we consider viv wanted 3 seasons at min to tell the full story

I'm not going to go hunting through the cesspool that is twitter to found out worldbuilding information about the show that is necessary to understand it properly. That's not good writing.

Okay i can understand why you put the horns because in the original they had horns on their helmets but that was to show the angels are the truly evil ones in the show and stuff....but why didnt you at least put a halo to keep that more angel look and to seperate the angels and sinners further (im loving the art im mostly just curious and wanna understand the creative choice for it) no hate so please dont hurt me lol
Gonna be honest, I totally forgot the halos. I remembered them in the final art piece but forgot for the concept art.
I made both of their halos gold. The both get a floating bit on either side of the halo, and Adam gets an extra two decorative bits on the top side on either side of the larger bit

They both ate the apple and they were the only two people that existed at the time. They'd make it work. It was them against the world. A relationship can get through just about anything if both parties put in the work, even if it'll never be the same.
Scripture actually says that Lilith was Adam's first wife who was cast out because she refused to lay beneath him, saying that they were made from the same earth and thus they were equal. Eve was then made from Adam's rib to mitigate that issue from happening again.

Lillith is not real. She's as much of a bedtime story as Santa Claws. Still a perfectly valid and important part of culture, but she's not a true religious figure

2:15 Respectfully hard disagree on that, we know that Adam's massive ego came from bieng the first ever human and he is meant to rappresent toxic masculinity and all that bad stuff, and also he has a motivation, he want to keep the status quo because that's what benefit him, he want to keep the status quo because that's what benefit him, also him looking like a normal guy is the point, he is just an average man that thanks to his privileges he think he is superior to all the rest of human kind, the mask that he wear is a metaphor for how he put a mask of ego to hide how he is just like any other human, also yeah Hazbin Hotel is not accurate to the Bibble and that's fine, the show just choose to take this characters and rewrite them to fit their narrative, that's fine, Dante also did it, also in episode 8 it's easy to understand that on of the reason that Adam does the genoic3 in hell is because he also hate Lucifer, so that's also in the show,
I see where you're coming from but I still think it's a massive waste of potential. I feel like that's the most shallow and boring way you can take this character. I wish they would've done more with his wives both leaving him for Lucifer, there's so much potential there to explain all of his actions and mindsets because of the pain that would come from that but they make it into a joke instead

@@ajthewildwolfI love your AU but I think a lot people are forgetting that Hazbin hotel is comedy at its core yeah it does have plot but that’s not their first priority. This happened with the sister show Hellua boss people just completely forgot that this is a comedy some people even admitted to not being here for the comedy but for characters development it’s up to you if you think the comedy is good or not. This AU will be good at more serious retelling of Hazbin hotel.
@@nunusthoughts If I were actually writing my AU to be a full story like an AO3 or comic or something, I would want to keep the tone light-hearted. I love that Hazbin Hotel is a comedy. I think angst hits hardest in comedies that usually have a light hearted tone and that's what I would want for my AU. Unfortunately its really hard to get across what the actual feel of the show would be like through these types of character summaries since I'm laying out the meat and potatoes immediately. Maybe someday I'll write out an actual script for an episode or two and do a reading but I wouldn't count on it.
