None of these cars were slow, but may May's speed and more importantly, control was stunning. Graves put up a valiant fight to block him for half of the track, but May May displayed a level of relentlessness only second to Juan Muerte, which speaks for itself about the quality of the racers taking part in this new tournament. Also congrats on the revamped track from Spoolhead racing, it looks great!

The last time I saw an episode, I was gobsmacked with your concept. I remember having a couple of items I thought might improve, but they appear to have been addressed and exceeded. Amazing narration, I am in awe with the Instant replay playback/commentary!! The streetlights! Such a massive improvement to the visibility! (Edit: upon checking back, dimming the background to black, is what made the difference) And just the lines the cars take; so realistic. The only things would be more camera angles, and maybe a 'colour commentary', but of course, that would mean more editing.... Amazing work. Subscribed!

Spool Heads really nailed it with the turn. I know Russell is really using this tournament as a test for more “on the job” data. The great thing about this turn is it can handle a lot of speed. Right? More of a Juniper Jolt, but don't you worry. I've seen some runs of the other cars in the tournament... and there are a few that would give Muerte a run for his money.
I can't think, nay *dream* of a better venue in which to debut the modular turns built by Spool Heads Racing. Couple this with the dramatic change of visual tone for the track and the arrival of the first group of modified cars at the Skyway and the results are nothing short of dare I say a new paradigm of racing experience. Top marks all round, from the host to the drivers 👏
So so honored to have the Spool Heads turn. It really runs great and i think made that battle in race three possible, keeping the cars on the track. Thanks for always digging the aesthetic choices. It’s the most fun. Glad you like the new look 🙏

Whatever happened to May May in that last run - the second showed some kick-ass pace and the third some kick-ass ass kicking. Steer away from silly accidents, and you have a potential winner i May May.
Group 1: My pick… John Alexander of course. I don’t believe I have the fastest car for sure but I think it is a solid race car with decent speed that will be hard to pass if out in front. Race 1: YAY!!!!!!! Perfect race. It’s clear that May May is fast but John Alexander did a fantastic job making all the right blocks to maintain both his position and keep his speed up. Really strong race. TURN WATCH (evaluating the Spool Heads Modular turn) While John Alexander nails the exit on turn four, May May and Uwe Steer both drift hard out of the turn. Steer was luck to cross the finish line. I’m really open to all feedback on the turn, especially negative feedback. So anyone reading this, let me know what you see as the tournament continues. It also looks like there might be a little gap on the top between the last 45° and 22.5° segments. Not sure if this is causing any issues in the racing. You might just check to see if the flat parts of the connecting segments need a touch of sand paper. Back to the racing. Race 2: That’s what I was afraid of. May May speed here is absolutely dialed in. What an impressive heat for him. John Alexander struggles here at the start to keep his speed up and gets behind Uwe Steer upon reaching the open track. While it is promising that John closes the gap and is right on the tail on Steer at the finish line, it hurts to be in the front lane and miss out on second place. I’m feeling quite nervous. TURN WATCH: This might be the fastest car to ever hit the modular turn. May May seems to struggle to find a line to take at the start of the turn and also drifts exiting the turn. He had no such issues on turn two or three. Interesting to see these data points. Race 3: We finished! Honestly after watching the replay of this, I think we would have gone off the track on turn four considering the contact and slow speeds entering the turn. TURN WATCH: As stated, I think this race shows one of the strengths of the modular turn. Having a relatively flat inside lane allows for cars entering at a slow speed to still make it through the turn. This felt like the last two cars of the race could have gone off the track on a crash racers turn. Is it more exciting to let cars fall or allow them a chance to finish? What do you all think? Also, while I am quite critical of the drifting that some cars do exiting the modular turn, this race is a great reminder that crash racers often presents the same challenge. It can be great to have some drifting as if every car exits the turns cleanly, the racing can be come a little sterile and less exiting. Too much drifting and cars loose their speed and too much contact mucks up the race. Thoughts anyone? Race 4: I can’t watch! I’d feel much better if John Alexander didn’t loose position and a point in race two. With May May possibly pushing Steer in the outside lane, John Alexander could end up in last place here if he is unable to get around Graves. (After race) What a stroke of luck that May May forgot to release the parking brake! John Alexander did just enough to continually pressure Graves without making any mistakes to allow an opening for Steer to catch up. Perfectly played. TURN WATCH: “Everyone takes a small drift” - Theodore Braves RECAP: What a great start for the Select Tournament. May May may threaten Muerte as the fastest Skyway car ever. John Alexander’s racing style feel very similar to Cannonball Clare. After seeing May May’s speed in race two, it makes John Alexander’s race one victory even more impressive with his ability to hold off May May. Can’t wait to watch the other groups! Thanks Skyway for the great entertainment. PS What’s Theodore’s dog’s name? Cute little guy.
What an absolutely exciting bit of commentary here. And I’m so glad you’ve got eyes on the turn as well seeing it in action. It really holds the speed of the drivers quite well in group two. I’d be interested to see if the drifting subsided if the grooves extend to the end of the ramps. It seems just be just enough flat space to allow the turn momentum to get the best of the cars as they exit. Just want to jump right to something you said at the end. The fact that JA stayed out in front with May May riding his tale is absolutely impressive. And really does remind me of cannonball Claire. Her power wasn’t necessarily popping out in front with big speed, but staying stable and gaining speed and being in promising positioning at the most opportune time all while being able to stay out in front of whatever speed demon is by her side, showing off her speed. I can’t wait to see JA in Round two. When it comes to drift or no drift, I agree some drifting is good, but I did notice quite a few cars even in group two did lose some speed and alignment in that small gap between grooves and straight track. Can I also just say how good looking that Huracan is. Really feels like the skyway was built for the super car. Your commentary is so in-depth, and the best part is the predictions based on weight and speed. How the front and back row reveal possibilities beyond just fast or not fast. But who will push who, and what can be achieved before open lane track. May May forgot to release the parking brake! That is storytelling! Love that. Watching JA in the last race, and you touched on this. You’re watching a performance from someone who doesn’t need to win, just to stay steady in second. It’s not about the Hail Mary for JA it’s about making sure he is precise and in control and that he shows up to the finish line. This kind of preservation: using only the effort necessary to complete the task and nothing more. It’s smart: Congratulations to you and your racing partner. A great build and I’m excited to utter the name John Alexander another day! Thanks for keeping your scientific process going regarding your turn. It’s a pleasure to be a test kitchen. Wait till you see group two… Turn Four gets to handle some heavy speed. Thanks for this commentary! Such a treat

Great start to the Skyway Select! I thought I recognized that corner from Spoolheads, going to be good to see how well it does but so far its looking good.
Spool Heads really nailed it with the turn. I know Russell is really using this tournament as a test for more “on the job” data. The great thing about this turn is it can handle a lot of speed. I can't think, nay *dream* of a better venue in which to debut the modular turns built by Spool Heads Racing. Couple this with the dramatic change of visual tone for the track and the arrival of the first group of modified cars at the Skyway and the results are nothing short of dare I say a new paradigm of racing experience.
Top marks all round, from the host to the drivers 👏

Whatever happened to May May in that last run - the second showed some kick-ass pace and the third some kick-ass ass kicking. Steer away from silly accidents, and you have a potential winner i May May.

Group 1: My pick… John Alexander of course. I don’t believe I have the fastest car for sure but I think it is a solid race car with decent speed that will be hard to pass if out in front.
Race 1: YAY!!!!!!! Perfect race. It’s clear that May May is fast but John Alexander did a fantastic job making all the right blocks to maintain both his position and keep his speed up. Really strong race.
TURN WATCH (evaluating the Spool Heads Modular turn) While John Alexander nails the exit on turn four, May May and Uwe Steer both drift hard out of the turn. Steer was luck to cross the finish line. I’m really open to all feedback on the turn, especially negative feedback. So anyone reading this, let me know what you see as the tournament continues. It also looks like there might be a little gap on the top between the last 45° and 22.5° segments. Not sure if this is causing any issues in the racing. You might just check to see if the flat parts of the connecting segments need a touch of sand paper. Back to the racing.
Race 2: That’s what I was afraid of. May May speed here is absolutely dialed in. What an impressive heat for him. John Alexander struggles here at the start to keep his speed up and gets behind Uwe Steer upon reaching the open track. While it is promising that John closes the gap and is right on the tail on Steer at the finish line, it hurts to be in the front lane and miss out on second place. I’m feeling quite nervous.
TURN WATCH: This might be the fastest car to ever hit the modular turn. May May seems to struggle to find a line to take at the start of the turn and also drifts exiting the turn. He had no such issues on turn two or three. Interesting to see these data points.
Race 3: We finished! Honestly after watching the replay of this, I think we would have gone off the track on turn four considering the contact and slow speeds entering the turn.
TURN WATCH: As stated, I think this race shows one of the strengths of the modular turn. Having a relatively flat inside lane allows for cars entering at a slow speed to still make it through the turn. This felt like the last two cars of the race could have gone off the track on a crash racers turn. Is it more exciting to let cars fall or allow them a chance to finish? What do you all think?
Also, while I am quite critical of the drifting that some cars do exiting the modular turn, this race is a great reminder that crash racers often presents the same challenge. It can be great to have some drifting as if every car exits the turns cleanly, the racing can be come a little sterile and less exiting. Too much drifting and cars loose their speed and too much contact mucks up the race. Thoughts anyone?
Race 4: I can’t watch! I’d feel much better if John Alexander didn’t loose position and a point in race two. With May May possibly pushing Steer in the outside lane, John Alexander could end up in last place here if he is unable to get around Graves. (After race) What a stroke of luck that May May forgot to release the parking brake! John Alexander did just enough to continually pressure Graves without making any mistakes to allow an opening for Steer to catch up. Perfectly played.
TURN WATCH: “Everyone takes a small drift” - Theodore Braves
RECAP: What a great start for the Select Tournament. May May may threaten Muerte as the fastest Skyway car ever. John Alexander’s racing style feel very similar to Cannonball Clare. After seeing May May’s speed in race two, it makes John Alexander’s race one victory even more impressive with his ability to hold off May May. Can’t wait to watch the other groups! Thanks Skyway for the great entertainment.

What an absolutely exciting bit of commentary here. And I’m so glad you’ve got eyes on the turn as well seeing it in action. It really holds the speed of the drivers quite well in group two.
I’d be interested to see if the drifting subsided if the grooves extend to the end of the ramps. It seems just be just enough flat space to allow the turn momentum to get the best of the cars as they exit.
Just want to jump right to something you said at the end. The fact that JA stayed out in front with May May riding his tale is absolutely impressive. And really does remind me of cannonball Claire. Her power wasn’t necessarily popping out in front with big speed, but staying stable and gaining speed and being in promising positioning at the most opportune time all while being able to stay out in front of whatever speed demon is by her side, showing off her speed.
I can’t wait to see JA in Round two.
When it comes to drift or no drift, I agree some drifting is good, but I did notice quite a few cars even in group two did lose some speed and alignment in that small gap between grooves and straight track.
Can I also just say how good looking that Huracan is. Really feels like the skyway was built for the super car.
Your commentary is so in-depth, and the best part is the predictions based on weight and speed. How the front and back row reveal possibilities beyond just fast or not fast. But who will push who, and what can be achieved before open lane track.
May May forgot to release the parking brake! That is storytelling! Love that.
Watching JA in the last race, and you touched on this. You’re watching a performance from someone who doesn’t need to win, just to stay steady in second. It’s not about the Hail Mary for JA it’s about making sure he is precise and in control and that he shows up to the finish line.
This kind of preservation: using only the effort necessary to complete the task and nothing more. It’s smart:
