Their skill level is beyond belief sometimes. The background harmonies painted a beautiful backdrop to Austin's clear, powerful and gorgeous front and center performance, and Adam's beat boxing/vocal percussion was the perfect emphasis and accents to the entire creation. Great reaction. They do tend to take your breath away sometimes.
Their background harmonies in the intro was just perfect and set up Austin's opening, which just takes your breath away, and they maintain that momentum all the way through. And they never really let you recover. From his very first, "When a man loves a woman" until his closing high notes, you are just mesmerized. You are certainly not the first person to be blown away by their cover of this classic and won't be the last either. Just continue down this HF rabbit hole, there is a lot more to discover.
Austin nailed it. He gives himself completely here and also plays very well with the cameras. The great harmonies, deep bass and the unbelievably freaking good beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds finish it all off for me. I think it sounds perfect because of all the different beautiful voices. I grew up performing Percy Sledge which I already loved. Then came Michael Bolton's performance where I couldn't say it was better. But this one from Home Free certainly is.
This was filmed during the lockdown and they each were in their homes, I guess in a studio corner for recording. Except for Austin Brown. He was in in studio with whoever was at the control board and Austin's partner Amberly. Who do you think he was giving those flirt looks to? She appears with I'm in his solo number Take the Night Off and the the groups Stargazer Trilogy, which is three songs Austin wrote.
This is one where I finished the song, then realized I hadn't breathed in awhile! 😳 Austin absolutely blew this out of the water! 🤯❤👍 The background vocals were amazing, too, but the 2nd star in this (behind Austin) was definitely Adam and his vocal percussion! His drum fills were awesome!
Its funny you do this reaction today as i had put on the Quarantine CD of HomeFree while i was trying to pay bills and balance my checkbook. I absolutely couldn't concentrate when this song came on😂. Actually the whole album is fantastic and you just want to sing along . Love that Austins beautiful voice. ❤😊
I totally agree Red - these guys had such a top notch team keeping us all connected and encouraged during the "LOCKDOWN". They never missed a beat and kept us all from going crazy during some dark, dark times. I, like yourself, get totally mesmerized when I'm listening to them and just forget about anything else I'm doing at the time. You have a great channel and I so enjoy your reactions - especially to "the boys". Keep up the good work my friend! RichieC (from across the "pond" / Atlanta Ga)
One of my favorite songs by Home Free! Austin does a fabulous job of putting his heart & soul into this song. Could you react to Crazy, The Driver & Meet In the Middle(all Home Free)? Thanks!
Watching your hands shows rapt engagement. If you’re up for it Austin, Tim and Adam Chance have individual channels that have surprising individual and collaborative efforts. Chance likes folk, Austin, musical theatre including an operatic aria, Nessun Dorma, with Rob that is eye opening, Tim loves doo wop.
Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.
I think you just did the best reaction yet (as far as I've heard, at least) to this song. Thank you! 😀 I checked to see if you'd done a reaction to another one that I like a lot, too, and you hadn't done it, s.o I'm suggesting: Dierks Bentley/Keith Urban - Woman, Amen / Female (Home Free Cover). I think you'll love it!
You can tell Austin feels it in his love for Amberly! As a woman. When he’s looking in the camera, it makes me melt! Another great quarantine song by the best vocal band ever!!!😮
Yes, this was in what we call "quarantine" times. There are a series of videos they did in that time period that helped me keep sane and gave me something to look forward to every two weeks. The first in the series was called Quarantine and is a hoot. You may well enjoy it if it doesn't trigger too many bad memories...
I always love the late Percy Sledge's 1966 original (not so much Michael Bolton's - I thought it rather over-wrought). The writer of the original had just gone through a bad break-up and Percy sings "I gave you everything I had". Austin's lady was in the studio and he sings "I'll give you everything I've got". A slight but significant difference. I think Mr. Sledge would have approved of their rendition of his classic.
I've never really liked this song, neither Percy Sledge or Michael Bolton. Still don't really like the song, but they absolutely killed it. Amazing backing vocals, percussion perfection and, of course, Austin just flying off into the stratosphere like it's nothing.

Austin sang from the heart.
I find Home Free's cover of this song with Austin's lead is so much more hopeful and uplifting where other singers present a more mournful rendition.
Amazing wasn’t it ? Austin absolutely knocked it out of the park and Adam with his amazing vocal percussion so good.

Austin and Adam killed it. This was during Covid so I thought the use of tvs was clever. Good reaction Red!🤩
Austin shined so bright in this! Love your reaction to this one -- new sub for more Home Free, please

A great tribute to the original by Percy Sledge! I love to watch reactions to this! ♥️

Can they realease an edit without the main vocalist.
