Boost the stuff so it’s just slightly over so kiting skills come in to effect

Now we see the attention span of the average teenager. It'll be fine.

Hopefully next patch is just buffs

I suspect next week is going to be a busy one for Helldivers 2: new warbond coming out, possibly a big patch as well so lots of new elements in the game with people jumping on top of 'em, providing them with a whole lot of data (red: playtesting and slightly subjective opinions about the content via Reddit and Discord😅).

Why didn’t they just counter the nerf and boost them meet in the middle

Because they're afraid that making 10 adjustments instead of 1 (just numbers for argument's sake) will cause more ripple effects down the road.

@@SirStefanGaming so what. Even if you fail. You can use the difference and try again then again til you have it right. And just be honest. And over time may end up unbalanced with a glaring weakness. That’s fine. Balancing a game doesn’t mean that everything has to work the same.

Failing forward is in general never a bad thing, however about not everything having to work the same when it comes to balancing; that depends on what they are balancing towards; if the goal is to keep everything (mostly primaries and support weapons) on the same power level, (which they acknowledged) managed by pros and cons (backpack, no backpack, heavy hitter but low ammo ect) then this is what you get. When a weapon rises above ground level then they nerf it back down.
I think another problem they might have is how much capacity they have in the team to address balancing on a consistent basis. If they boost every weapon, then somewhere down the road other elements will have to be boosted too as a result (armor, enemy unit stats, enemy unit numbers, spawn rates ect) and then you end up in a power creep discussion. This all produces a lot of work for which I believe they don't have the time or resources.

in warframe many things are overpowered/unbalanced, but it's co-op PVE so nobody cares.

That's the weird thing; I feel like HD2 is being balanced as if it's PVP instead of PVE. I get their desire in wanting people to be able to pick whatever but some weapons will always have a preference from an efficiency standpoint. I always like having some outliers, then I have an actual reason to alternate approaches every once in a while.
